    Surgery Thursday!!! EEKK!

Ditto on that. I can't believe I can actually survive on such few calories. I'm on the post op 2 week liquid phase right now. I get to start mushies next week. There is something magical about not being hungry after surgery. They say the first 6 months is the easiest. Don't fear. We all had the same feeling prior to going in. The surgery, from my side, was a breeze. Now its just a little swollen stomach with a "ball" feeling. I feel great otherwise. Good luck!

I am starting to wonder about my choice.

Hi Dovie, I reached the conclusion that the risk outwayed the % of things happening. Sounds like you have done really well on the pre op diet. Its exciting. I was scared leading up to surgery myself. I am 7 days post op and I'm so glad I did this. The weight is already starting to come off. I am not hungry and you too will do great!

    prayer requests for LBT'ers

Thank you all for your prayers. We are one step closer to selling the commercial property. I am awaiting word on the counter offer today. I send all of my thankfulness to this support group and God.

    Anyone know???

Typically the doctor advised that you should wait a full year before proceeding with cosmetic surgery. Probably because you are still losing and feel closer to goal. It probably depends on how close to goal you are. If you are 72 lbs your body will move even further so I would wait if you can. P.S. I'm in the same boat girl. Flab, flab. I plan on waiting until I lose 80 lbs which will bring me just under 200 lbs and 25 lbs range of goal.

What does everyone do for a living?

I am a Program Manager/Project Manager in High Tech in Silicon Valley. I telecommute full time which, believe me, is not a good thing at times. Go for the new job when you are feeling better. Its great to get outside of the house. Good luck.

    Please help me again!

Sherri, I felt the very same. I had a complete meltdown at least 2 days before my surgery. Its an emotional roller coaster. Thinking about why, how, what if, etc. I had my surgery last Tuesday and I'm doing fine. Just let the emotions run their course. Cry all you want. This is going to be a new life for you. I have about the same lbs to lose as you. You will be fine. Let it all out then the excitement will hit when you get closer. Good luck.

    prayer requests for LBT'ers

I am in need of prayers. My husband and I have had a commercial property up for sale for a year. We are close to having it sold. I need Christ to help us through this transaction as the outcome will greatly affect our family. I am suppose to hear today if the loan can be assumed by the new buyer. If so, it will greatly increase the chances of selling the property easily. I pray that God's hands will guide us through this transaction. I really appreciate your support and prayers. This is a huge issue in our lives right now and will greatly affect the outcome of our financial stability. Thank you.

    Upcoming surgery questions

Hi Heidi, My surgery was a breeze. I didn't have any gas pain. Just about 2 days of a sore neck. Kept on my liquid advil caps. The liquid diet is easy. I drink a protein shake in the a.m. s-l-o-w-l-y and then fill in the day just a bit with jello or creamy soups. I am 6 days post op. The incisions do stay a little sore. The one that stays the sorest is the port incision. I took off all the bandages yesterday and I'm healing nicely. I am a little tired at time, probably because of the few calorie intake. I drink plenty of fluid though. Just basically its just taking care of yourself, resting and not over doing it. I am ready to drive today and I'm back to work at a desk job. In all truthfullness, the hardest thing was the sore throat from the anasteasia (tube down the throat). That lasted about 2 days. I can't believe how easy this surgery has been. Getting my tubes tied was 10 times more painful. Good luck!

weight loss during the liquid phase

I am 6 days post op and have lost at least 5 lbs. Looks like water retention and I can tell in my face. Not thinking too much about the weight right now. It just feels good not to be hungry! Liquids aren't so bad after all.

3 rd day in Bandland, I'm lovin' it!

Hi MaryAnn, I am 6 days post op and the scale has moved at least 5 lbs. The liquid diet isn't so bad. I can see the lbs in my face. Water retention loses first. Its exciting. Hope you are feeling good. I feel great and this is the best thing I've ever done. No hunger. Taking advantage of that big time. Good luck!

    Who Did You Tell?

I told my family and my close friends. I'm losing quickly though so it will be easy to tell I am doing something!
  12. I went back to work today and had surgery last Tuesday. I have a desk job. Not on my feet, no lifting, etc.

    I made it...

Hi Regina, Congrats on your surgery. I got banded last Tuesday. Just a little sore still and a bit tired. Already down 5 lbs. Feel good. Good luck!
  15. I was banded last Tuesday and I'm back to work tomorrow. It helped to have assistance with the kids though. You mostly are tired and a little sore aftwards. I'll be ready to drive tomorrow. Just a littled tired still.

Thank you...this site is a real help

Welcome to the site. I found this about 2 months prior to surgery. I was just banded last Tuesday and I couldn't live without this site. It is great. You learn so much about how others are doing, handling surgery, problems, issues, good news, etc. Keep looking at the site and good luck with your surgery. I feel great 5 days post op and down 5 lbs.
  17. gjray, have you tried 1/2 a protein shake a couple times a day. I use a good soy based on from GNC. I have no loss of energy and I feel good. That may help with your blood sugar level.
  18. I had lapband surgery on Tuesday. It feels like there is a ball in my stomach and its hard to swallow. I've been taking my medication chopped up really fine. It feels like something is stuck and I don't know what it could be. Do you think it is swelling? The doctor said I have no restriction and will not have any until my first fill in a month. Still feels like a ball is in my upper abdomen. Thanks for the input
  19. Thanks Cookgal. Sounds like you are doing fantastic. I feel great. I'm shocked that I feel so good so soon. I go in for my post op next Thursday. I know I have lost at least 5 lbs so far. I love not being hungry. Looking forward to everything that is to come.

    It finally seems real

Good luck on your journey. I remember every step before surgery. Downpayment, insurance approval, phsycho eval, nutritionist, etc. etc. I was banded on Tuesday and I feel really good. Keep the faith, it will be worth it.

Poodles, my doctor said the port site would be sore at least 2 to 3 weeks after surgery. I've been trying to avoid sleeping on that side but I do find myself a few days no post op feeling less pain. *** Barbara 12375, my doctor only had me on 1 day liquid prior to the surgery and I'm fine.
  22. I take Lexapro and Wellbutrin together in the a.m. I use a pill crusher. If you are on Wellbutrin however, you need to make sure from your doctor it can be crushed. One of the Wellbutrins cannot so he changed my prescription. I also take Geodon at night. I asked my doctor if they would go down and he said yes so those remain in capsule form. So far no problem with meds, but I haven't had a fill yet so we'll have to see.
  23. Thanks Poodles. I am feeling better today. I'm just on Advil liquid gel caps which seem to be helping the stomach swelling. Lots of liquids. I don't feel weak so I guess my body is working off of stored fat at this point.
  24. Thanks everyone. Yep, he said the band isn't tightened yet so I don't have restriction. Sounds like this "ball in the stomach" feeling is normal. I have no hunger. Did you force any liquid supplement down (protein shake) or just liquids like juice, broth, water?
  25. Thanks Poodles. I think it is normal, just a really funny feeling. When I get the "ball" feeling I think it is the point of being full. That is how I am working it now.
