Don't know what to title this

Sherri, I'm not quite sure what to say because I don't know the history of your relationship. My husband and I were near divorce about a year ago and we sought out marriage counseling. You shouldn't have to put up with the verbal attacks. Those can hurt more than physical. Just surround yourself with friends and know that this forum is to help YOU get through your surgery. I really hope that things improve because I have the sense that after surgery he may throw more in your face if you are not losing fast enough. I really hope it works out for you. Have a supportive spouse is really helpful during times like this. Take care of yourself because after surgery it will all be about YOU for a change. Best of luck dear.
  2. Thank you for the information. I am watching everything I eat and hopefully within the next couple weeks after my fill I'll be back on track.

    Calling all treadmill walkers....

I heard about that from my aunt this weekend. She said it was really difficult and very good exercise. I need to get my butt moving so I'll check that out at the gym.

    Anyone with acid reflux

Thanks everyone for the feedback. The acid reflux is gone with only 2 days of anti acid meds. I feel like a million bucks! 14 days post op tomorrow!

help i am brand new at this!!

Hi, my BMI was 40 and they took the BMI only on my first appointment for surgery. They then weighed me, at the hospital, the day OF the surgery. I wouldn't worry too much about that part. You can be successful at BMI 40. I have 75-100 lbs to lose so good luck to you as well!

Am I Doomed To Fail w. Band?

Hi, yes I fight with that too. I don't have control. Now that I am more hungry I am fighting wanting to fill myself with "bad" choices. So the trick for me has been NOT to have any junk in the house, NOT to go thru a drive through (unless its for pinto beans at taco bell) and to just be good to myself. The old habits die hard. It will take some time. I know its a lot of work. The band is just a tool so keep the faith and know the decisions you make are the right ones for you. Good luck.

I am officially below 300 pounds!!!!!!!

Good for you! I know the feeling. I weighed in (prior to my lapband) at 320 at one point. It felt great to be below that. I'm 269 now and that is the lowest I have been in a long time. Keep up the good work, it will all come off. Good luck!

    Help!

Yes, do call your doctor. But for reference I had 2 weeks of liquids, 1 week of mushies then onto solids with caution. You do have a lot of swelling so it took me a good 10 days to even be a little hungry. I still have a little hunger but this works. The diet is for healing and a barrier forms around the band. So PLEASE follow what your doctor says. I ate something one day when I shouldn't have and it scared me that I may have done something. So make sure you heal. Good luck.

    Scared

You'll be fine. Remember the post diet, I hit a glitch and my surgeon was not happy. Make sure you follow the rules because the healing stage is critical. Your stitches can come lose, etc. Be good to yourself. We ALL are scared at some point, that is only natural. Good luck!

    Nausea since Surgery

I had nausea about 9 days post surgery. I use the anti nausea liquid med my doctor perscriped. If you don't have some I would call him. It helps a lot.

    Hi everybody

Welcome. I have 2 children, 14 and 5. The surgery isn't too difficult so you are up moving around pretty quickly. I had my youngest watched for a few days by my mother so that made things easier. Don't be afraid of your "drastic" decision. I was scared and had a major meltdown 2 days before, that is natural. Take care of yourself. We have all been there. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for the help re: acid reflux

Thanks Kathy. I thought I was going to die with the reflux. Now I can report to my doctor on Monday that I feel much better. Thanks again!

    Allow me to introduce myself...

Thank you Dr. C for answering my question. I feel better today after taking Zantac and slowing down on my liquid consumption.
  17. I was only on liquids 24 hours prior. Good luck!

    Allow me to introduce myself...

Hi Dr. C, I have a question for you. I have acid reflux and one of the bandsters told me aloe vera juice and prilosec work well. Is it okay to take zantac or pepcid ac? I took a pepcid ac last night and I feel so much better today. I think it is because I may be drinking my liquids too fast. I am 11 days post op. My doctor is doing a swallow test on Monday to make sure things are passing through okay. I have no PB just a golfball feeling and it runs into my esophogus so I thought it was acid reflux or swelling. How long does swelling take to go away. I am on liquids only still.

    Why is this happening now?

Sherri, that is the beauty of this support site. I've had only acif reflux and I'm only 11 days post op but down 12 lbs. I am thrilled with my band. My recovery has been painfree and I would do this again in the heartbeat. I am so grateful for not being hungry. My doctor said that was one of the best effects of the band. Its good you are questioning why, what, etc. so keep the questions coming. Its good if you are scared or need to vent. We are here for you. This forum will be very educational. Slippage and erosion are rare but its good to hear about all angles. Good luck!

    Anyone with acid reflux

Do I get the aloe vera at the health food store? Is Prilosec a medication?

    Hi, I'm new here

Hi Cris, I had my surgery last Tuesday so I am 10 days post op. I was in the hospital overnight but now my doctor does them outpatient. The worst was the anastetic. My throat was really sore from the tube. You are a little sore from the incisions as well, especially the port area. I can sleep on my side now but it was tough for the first 5 days or so. I have no hunger and I'm down 12 lbs. The only thing I have is a "ball" like feeling in my stomach. I don't know if its acid reflux or just the "full" feeling that I'm not use to. I'm on liquids currently. I have a swallow test on Monday to make sure everything is passing through okay. I'm going to ask him again what is the issue with the "ball" feeling at that time. Good luck!
