Annie Wilson's lapband what happened?
juliegeraci replied to diva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I saw her in concert the Summer before last and she looked good. She definitely had lost weight but I'm not sure how much. -
Good luck with your surgery. It is an exciting time so be good to yourself and make sure you follow all the doctors orders.

Hi Melanie, I really believe the exercise is the most important factor. I am TRYING to start my routine but its been an uphill battle. I am really hoping and praying that I can get motivated soon. I was banded on June 6th and so far I'm down about 12 lbs. I feel sluggish to say the least.

Problems swallowing calcium capsules?!
juliegeraci replied to Stephanie MG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Stephanie, I agree with her. YOu can go to chewable via another route. If you can't get chewable then get a pill type so you can split them. I have been splitting my meds and so far I haven't felt them go down. Good luck. Welcome to bandland. -
Hello, yes I had the same feeling and it was acid reflux. After using Pepcid AC one night and Zantac the next it was gone. It is probably some swelling as well. Make sure you follow the doctors diet to the tee because anything outside of what he/she wants you to eat you can get into some trouble early on.

Can we say fill? That is what you need. If you don't feel the restriction it is easy to cram a cheeseburger down your throat. Schedule a fill, do some liquids for a few days to drop the 3 lbs and you'll be back in action.
-
Am I doing this right??? Restriction question.
juliegeraci replied to Poodles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor said that I wouldn't have restriction until after my first fill. I was banded 1 day after you and I can easily eat a can of soup. I think you are okay. Liquids go down and don't fill the pouch so try and gauge when you are fill. But I know that is difficult if you can't feel the restriction. -
:clap2: I was on a plateau for about a week or so. I upped my calorie intake and whala....I am losing again. I am down to 268 which I haven't seen in 10 years. My pre surgery a year ago I was at 320. I've lost 13 lbs since my surgery. I get a fill on July 17th. I'm excited again and I'm glad I have this forum to share it.

Back on the losing side again - excited!

I just upped my calories by eating another small snack/meal during the day. I am also trying to get more protein in. We'll see in the next few days. I am hitting the gym tomorrow. I need to get my butt moving. That is my next goal. -
GNC - High Performance Product (incl protein shakes) on sale!
juliegeraci posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just went into GNC and their High Performance products are buy 1 get the 2nd one 1/2 off. I use their High Performance Soy based protein shake. It has 25 grams of protein before the skim milk. They are HUGE size bottles of 55 servings. Around $41 a jug. So for $60 you can get 2. Also, if you have a GNC Gold Card you can use it tomorrow for a week and save an additional 20% off. Its a great deal. Time to stock up!:clap2: -

With skim milk the soy based High Performance is just around 200 calories, give or take. -
Glad you posted this thread. I have started to hiccup as well. Now I know I am not losing my mind and its my body telling me to stop.

Hi JJ, I was banded on June 6th and I'm down only 12 lbs. I think 15 is fair. A lot of people have lost a ton really quickly. I am going in for my first fill on July 17th. So if what I have read is correct, we should see continued weight loss after our fills. Good luck. Julie

Carbs are my worst enemy. They really play havoc with my blood sugar. Once I get started with carbs it is difficult for me to stop. I try and avoid them at all costs.
-
You are doing fantastic. I can't wait until I can report how my first year was. Keep up the great work.
-
I get my protein from soy. I am using the performance products from GNC. I really like them. One scoop give me 25 grams of protein. That doesn't include the skim milk. I like being able to just blend in the a.m. and it sets me up with protein for the day. Good luck.

I'm Offically 100 pounds down!!!!
juliegeraci replied to Jammin & Losin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is exactly what I need to lose. You look great girl! -
My surgery was easy. In bed I slept pretty much on my back the first week or so. I was a little uncomfortable but was able to move to the side about 1 week later. No recliner needed.
-
I saw her on Larry King last night and she finally admitted to having surgery. He said to her that losing this much weight was not due to normal diet and exercise and she said back then you make the conclusion that it had to be surgery. That is the closest we will ever get to saying it.
-
I took mine off about a week later. I couldn't stand them anymore. My incisions were fine and it let them heal faster.
-
I understand your concerns. The surgery itself was a breeze for me. Probably just a few days to pick up the Grandbaby, most likely on the lap. You will do fine. Its an exciting time so I hope it goes well for you.
-
just think of this as one more experience. We are all tempted and will continue to have things like this happen to us while trying to stay on our programs even banded. YOu will do fine especially if you are able to do the liquid stage! Good job.
-
Yes, ours is once a month. It is great hearing from other bandsters. It really helps.
-
Good job. I can't wait until I can report the same success. Way to go!
-
Good for you. I was banded on June 6th and without restriction it is difficult for me. I am getting my first fill on July 17th. Looks like there are folks like me who struggle prior to the first fill. Good job.
