BPM, my trainer is $70 a session when you pay for 10 up front. This includes weighing, measuring, body composition, meal planning. He checks my measurements each month and we weight once a week. He also talks about nutrition and supplements. In the past, I have had this free service but not every trainer offers it. Not sure if it is because they just don't, or they aren't eduated enough to. Having a trainer is a nice luxury, but well worth it. Today we met and after he weighed and measured me we only had 30 minutes to work out. We did a lot of floor work including lunges and squats. He does interval exercises which means he lines a few up and it is non stop. The theory is that if you keep moving it is aerobic. Some trainers have you lift, wait a minutes and do it again. I like the idea of doing several exercises at a time using different muscles. Good luck with your own discovery. He said I can lose 8 lbs a month. Being banded the food part is easy, its just a matter of moving. I am working out with him twice a week and I intend to do aerobic activity ie. walking on treadmill, aerobic class, water aerobics 1-2x additional during the week. Good luck.

Congrats. I know what you are talking about. Just to fit in a theatre seat is a big deal without having to put up the arms. The best part is when you no longer need seat belt extension on an airplane.

Congrats. You are doing great. Keep up the good work.

let the beer sit out a bit before you drink. When the fizz is down it may help.

How do you handle sweet cravings?
juliegeraci replied to MonaLisa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Try glucosamine. It is used to make your blood sugar levels balance. It also helps with cravings. I use the power from GNC and put it in my protein shakes in the a.m. Good luck. -
Are your protein shakes whey based or soy based? You may be allergic to whey or soy. I would verify that then switch. I use soy based because I can't do a lot of dairy. That could be the issue. Skim milk doesn't bother me but if I had lactose based plus skim it probably would. Good luck.

GNC has some wonderful soy protein products. I would highly recommend going there and checking them out. The protein I use is soy based and has 25 grams in only 1 serving. Good luck.

I worked out with my personal trainer for the first time today. He took my body comp, weight and is working on a meal plan. My body comp fat ration was 140 lbs to lean muscle at 127 lbs. 52% fat. This means that if I lose the target of 70 lbs, it will put me at 25% fat and exactly where I need to be at 195. I am right on course. He said I can lose 2 lbs a week safely. So my goal is to continue to work with him over this next year. Its tough, especially the squats! Yikes.

one week after joining bandland!
juliegeraci replied to Magical_Me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats. As far as feeling full, I ate a lot of jello and protein shakes. For the most part, I wasn't hungry. Good luck. -
This a.m. I am working with my new fitness trainer for the first time. I am really looking forward to it. I love to work out with a trainer. The fittest I ever was is when I worked out with a natural body builder. I am down another 2 lbs. Thanks for the info. Telly on how you treat your band. Yesterday I treated it like I had restriction and cut my meals in 1/2. It worked and I'm down from my plateau. The funny thing is that I wasn't really hungry. My first fill is Monday.

Yes, yes, yes. When you build more muscle you burn more fat. Its the best. Go for it.

I do'nt have anyone else to talk to....

I am sorry to hear about your challenges right now. One thing I have learned is that you have to take care of yourself first. Try and be really good to yourself. If that includes chatting with us, exercise, journalling, getting time away by yourself, seeing a friend, asking a friend or relative to take the kids one night...do it. You must come first in this world. Often times the bombardment is because of the lack of time we actually give ourselves. Be your own best friend. I understand about your husband. Sometimes they mean well but they don't get it. Just try and cope the best that you can. I go to a Physiciatrist as well and it helps to be on medication. That has really pulled me through the rough times. Good luck. Be good to yourself. -
Congrats on your 1 year. Be proud of yourself, you have made huge strides.

Hi Elisabeth, the weight loss has stopped for me. I just ate 2 turkey tacos and still have no restriction. I am looking forward to gaining that Monday. Thanks! -
How soon after surgery did you feel hungry?
juliegeraci replied to div95008's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine took about 2 weeks. Sometimes I still don't feel hungry until much later in the day. Its hard to gauge when to stop eating as well. My first fill is Monday. -
Who does your fills? (What type of health care professional)
juliegeraci replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgeon does the fills all the time. My first fill is Monday. -
You may want to post this on complications or support/general becuase you got no answers. From my experience, mind you I'm a newbie, that sensation you are getting sounds like restriction and your body is telling you to stop eating. 1/4 c is not a lot of food. Good luck.
-
Glad to hear. I have my first fill next Monday and I'm a little nervous too. Thanks for the info.

Make sure he goes back on the doctor recommended diet asap. I was balled out by my surgeon as I had a piece of chicken in week 2. It is very important for him to follow the post op diet. I had a swallow, barium, test and it was fine. Good luck.

Can You Slip an Unfilled/Never-Been-Filled Band???
juliegeraci replied to danaclark2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It might be a doctor C question. If you post it to "lapband complications", she will answer. My guess is if you take care of yourself and don't vomit too much you should be fine. Good luck. Wow, what a surprise! -
Did you lose weight before your first fill?
juliegeraci replied to sleepyjean's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost 12 then I quickly gained back 5. So now I am just around 10-11. My first fill is Monday and boy I can't wait. -
Just an update. I have been on the prayer thread for quite sometime. My prayer was answered and my husband and I sold our commercial property which was up for sale for a year. We are in escrow and it should close in early September. Thank you ALL who had us in your prayers. I do believe prayers are answered and I really appreciate them.

Leila, thanks for the insight. I know I am trying to rush things but the scale has been jumping around like a yo yo. I am SO looking forward to my fill on the 17th..you have idea. Thanks Leila!
-
Carrie, you have done beautifully. Have you always lost consistently or did you have any trouble at the beginning. Mine has been very slow.

I agree. I checked it out this a.m. and it would be fun to just chat. No one was there unfortunately.
