Marc, you are not alone. I am a working professional making a ton of money and the obesity is the one thing in my life I couldn't control. That is when I prayed for an answer and I received the band. The isolation in your case hopefully will diminish once you feel better about yourself. Getting out more and not working as many hours will be key. Taking care of yourself must become for front. I applaud you for taking the first step with the band. I love my band. I've been banded since June 6th and this is the first time in 13 years I am at the weight I am at. Obesity has been with me my entire life. Up until the birth of my first son I had managed my weight very well. I ballooned to 320 after the birth of my 2nd son. With my own dieting and with the band I am now down to 263. An added bonus in your case is your story that one day you can share with your obese patient. My OBGYN mentioned bariatric surgery to me but it took me 2 years to finally reach out. If I had an OBGYN who had gone through it as well it would have helped me a lot. You have the gift of knowledge and strength in your brain and your hands. This journey with your weight and the band is nothing more than positive. I really hope and pray that you will grow to love yourself throug this journey. The outside world is just a minor part of who we are. And in your case, you have been blessed to have a career that fulfills you at some level. You will do great and I can't wait to hear about your results. Good luck.

Be good to yourself. 25 lbs is nothing to balk over. I know how it is when we face the mirror and especially when we try and buy clothes. Try and think of the positive changes you are doing. The weight is just there and its hard to face. Don't let this discourage you. When we think of ourselves only as fat and "bags of potatoes" it destroys what weight we have lost and the self esteem. Just try and relax, pick a dress that looks the best on you and go from there. Love yourself. Good luck.

You should be okay. If the fizz starts to bother you, you can tell. Carbonation is okay as long as it doesn't bother you.

I plateau or even out my weight loss at least once a week. You are correct on the sodium in the soy sauce. Drink a lot of water. Also, if you are exercising a lot your body is rebalancing lean muscle to fat. Lean Muscle weighs more than fat. I would think within a week you should see some movement again. Goodluck.

Tearby, relax and go take a nice walk. Remember why you were banded in the first place and set the future that way. Don't live in the regrets of what you haven't done. Live in the now and you can get on track. Just use the restriction and avoid the bad foods like sugar and carbs. You can do this.

If it can fit through you are okay.

I June Bandsters. I went in for my first fill on Monday and let me tell you....sigh of relief. It is so nice not to be hungry again and to feel full. I'm down 14.5 lbs since June 6th. Not as much as I had hoped for but I am happy with myself. Its the first time in a long time I have yo-yo dieted. I'm down to a weight I haven't seen in a really long time. It is so nice to have support and to be able to lose without dieting. I love this.

Up the exercise. Do you know how many calories you are eating? If you aren't getting enough calories in, up the calories for a day then go back. Your metabolism will rev up due to the extra calories and you may break your plateau. Make sure you are eating enough and exercising.

What do I do with all these feelings?
juliegeraci replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is all natural. I remember 2 days before my surgery I had a complete meltdown. Why did I let myself go that I had to have surgery, etc? It will be okay. Just let the fear and feeling come and afterwards you will be fine. Its the best thing I've ever done. I'm down 14 lbs in 6 weeks. On Weight Watchers I was yo-yo'ing so I am fine with that weight loss. Good luck. -
Joint decision. I just had my first fill on Monday. He injected me w 2ccs then sat me up to do a swallow test to see how tight I was. He then adjusted it down to 1cc by taking some out. I'm sure that is the way your surgeon will handle as well. Good luck.

I took mine with a protein shake. I had to split one of them. I wait a min then do another. Make sure you check with the pharmacist or doctor if you can split a pill. Due to chemistry some do not allow you to split them.

Positive Life Changes since Banding?
juliegeraci replied to jgandg's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My biggest positive change to date is exercising more. I am back to the gym working out with a fitness trainer and I do cardio 3 days a week. That is huge for me. -
Thanks Telly. The scale is moving South again so I am really happy.
-
Yesterday did 20 minutes of cardio. Today I worked out with my fitness trainer.

Which side is your port?
juliegeraci replied to CanadaSunshine's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just had my first fill and I finally know where my port is. My doctor is a genius. I would have never know. -
Liquid protein and sugar free jello. You don't have restriction until your fills so if you are hungry eat. The protein shakes are the best resolution. Good luck.

How long after real food do you start to lose again?
juliegeraci posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I am noticing going to mushies the weight loss has stopped. How long before my body recognizes the new calorie count and loses again? What was your story regarding this? -
Your body is turning fat into lean muscle mass. That is why you don't see the scale go down but you see the sizes. If you turn 10 lbs of fat into lean muscle you may see a size or 1/2 size difference. Understand?
-
I just got back from my first fill. Originally he put 2 ccs in then he has you do a swallow test to see how long it takes to have water go down. He had to take 1cc out. I do feel restriction as I just had a protein shake and feel full. Good luck with yours. Let me know how it turns out.

Had my first PB, whoo hoo I'm a real bandster!
juliegeraci posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, I learned. I'll slow down and take smaller bites from now on. I had a piece of sushi and it got stuck. I didn't know what to do and I could hardly breath so I took a sip of water and ....up it came. It was interesting but I had a good laugh thinking about all the other friends out there that have "lost it" in funny situations. Boy did it come up fast and whooo slimy. Anyway, I guess its official now. I go in for my first fill on the 17th so I'll be ready and S.L.O.W.I.N.G.....D.O.W.N. Thanks for listening. -
Are you banded? If you are make sure you stay on the doctors recommended diet for sure. That is for you to heal.
-
My decision was made purely on the invasiveness of gastric bypass. I didn't like the thought of my insides being rerouted. Good luck on your decision.
-
Best said, plastic surgery is up to the individual. Unlike gastric bypass you don't lose as quickly so you do have less lose skin. About fills....if you have insurance they should cover a portion of that. In my case my doctor asks for $50 deposit then they bill the carrier. Because he is out of network I am sure it will cost me a bit more. Good luck.

What has been your "Wow" moment since you started your weight loss journey?
juliegeraci replied to ousooner's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Since I am new, my wow moment was my first post op appointment when I was down 12 lbs without hunger. That was a wow moment for sure.
