I've only PB'd once so I wouldn't worry too much about it. You will know when to stop eating so you will not push yourself. Continued PBing is only when you push yourself. You will be fine.

How much time off of work and other restrictions
juliegeraci replied to samos's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sarah, you will be surprised how fast you recover. I would say you probably will be dying to get back to school within a week. My recovery and back to work was under a week. You will be a little sore but hopefully nothing more than that. Some people take flights home, etc. without any problems. I'm sure sitting in class would be fairly easy. -
Where is your port?

Mine is left side just under the bra line. I can't feel it at all. -
I have low profile and he can find it fine.

Does anyone have a scale addiction?
juliegeraci replied to Kirsten117's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I weight myself every day. Yes, it can be addicting. I don't think it is a good idea but it puts me in touch with what I am eating as appose to just eating and waiting. The doctor doesn't want me to weigh as often so I'm not sure if its good or bad. -
Miper70, sounds like you are just like me. When you get that stuck feeling that is when we are suppose to stop. I push the bands capability if I wait then continue to eat. I think it would be smart for both of us to use the band the way it was intended and slow down and let it work. The stuck feeling is when we should stop.

You have to check with the pharmacist to see if the pill can be split. I split one that is bigger than the other but don't have problems with the one that is about the size of an M&M.

Hello all, Have you ever gone off of your program and eaten a little too much and bam..the weight just heaps on? Do you know why that happens? Is it because we limit our calorie intake and then when we eat like regular again or add a small meal our bodies don't know what to do?
-
I am bipolar and I had no problem getting the band. When I had my psycho interview I told him I was under meds and seeing a psychiatrist and I went through fine. Good luck.

I'm going in for my 2nd fill on Monday. My first fill only lasted a couple meals. Now I am back to the same portion size. Looking forward to it.

Does Lap-Band help with emotional eating?
juliegeraci replied to SarahinTyler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It helps but you still can have "head hunger". An example is that you've just eaten and because you can't have more due to the band you still want it. It happens to me all the time. That is the tough part. Good luck. -
Well stated. It was 3 lbs in about 3 days so I was really suprised. I guess it is because I don't really eat very much and then my body said "lets have a food party". It will come off fast. Thanks for the info.

Drugs - What am I doing to my body?
juliegeraci replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I understand about addiction. Have you ever thought of joining NA? It might be a good place for you to share your ups and downs with people. Just a thought. -
Just ignore that person. There is always one that is willling and able to send a flame a gram to you. You are doing great considering your obstacles. Follow your doctors orders with the knee. Sorry this happened to you. You don't deserve it.

That is what my thoughts were too. I'm back on program today. Funny how a few drinks and a little more food will make you gain 3 lbs. Ugh!

You will not have restriction until you start to get fills. Good luck.

Why no drinking during meals
juliegeraci replied to ChristopherNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Make sure you check with your doctor. There is misleading information out there. Typically they have you stop when you eat but up until meal time it is okay. I like to drink with meals so far I haven't had any issues. -
Hi Gang, the scale is moving again! I'm down 16 lbs since surgery. I had my first fill on Monday. What a relief. It is so good to have some restriction and not have the hunger creep up again. Whoo Hoo!

I worked out with my fitness trainer again today. We focused on resistence training. Boy did he kick my ass. The scale moved 3 lbs this week so I am really happy.

Yes, potassium. I would take a supplement or eat more bananas.

I'm down 15 lbs since surgery . My current goal is 10 lbs which would bring me to 253 from 281 at surgery. I just got a fill on Monday and so far so good. I feel great and its nice to have a little restriction.
-
Hi Beth, welcome to bandland. You don't have restriction until you receive fills so it is normal to be hungry or normal to eat a little more than you think. Be patient and just follow the doctors diet and you will do great. Congrats.
-
You need a fill. My doctor gives fills 4 weeks after surgery. When you get a fill you have more restriction and the hunger isn't as intense. I would call your doctor to see if it is time for you to have a fill. You will feel far more in control. I had my first fill on Monday and have completely turned a corner. Good luck.

What do you or did you look forward too?
juliegeraci replied to Arkgl01's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am looking forward to wearing shorts and feeling good about myself. I am also looking forward to wearing size 18 or stretch goal of 16.
