chicken or beef???
juliegeraci replied to housecatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Beef goes down better for me, especially a nice filet mignon. -
Hi Kathy, Great to see you again on the boards. I'm down about 25 lbs since June 6th. I am concentrating on the NSV and the other day I finally go into a size 22 jean. I was thrilled. Best of luck to our slow losers. We have to keep the faith.

Zet, you are taking the right attitude. My family knows I had the surgery and its nice because now that I don't have a big appetite there is no more food pushing. Best of luck with your insurance and happiness with your band!

I'm down roughly 25 lbs since I was banded in June. Prior to that I had lost 30 lbs on my own. I started in a size 26 on the bottom and a 24 on the top. Today I went to Lane Bryant and bammmm....I'm 18/20 on the top and 22 on the bottom! I've been discouraged that I haven't been losing fast enough but now I feel like it is paying off in a non scale way. Thank you for all your support.:faint:

I would up your calorie intake by using protein shake supplements. I have one from GNC that has at least 20 grams. YOu drink 3 of those a day and you have your protein intake. Good luck.

I am thankful that I love myself enough to get banded and to start living the life I deserve. I am thankful for God in my life. I am thankful for my family and the 2 beautiful children I have. I am thankful for my supportive husband who forgave me after I had an affair last year. I am thankful for good health. I am thankful for my life in general. Thanks for the thread.

Go to the seminar by yourself if you mom is not willing to support you. It will change your life when you are banded. You will view food totally differently because your hunger will go down. I had a protein shake this a.m. and 1/2 of a chicken enchilada for lunch. I can't eat anymore so when the food pushers in my family come around there isn't a way to even try. You will throw up if you overeat. Get the support through your doctor. Some have support groups. Mine does. In addition, keep in mind that you most likely will have to meet with a nutritionist and a phsyciatrist before surgery. They leave no stone uncovered. Hopely the nutritionist you see will have some experience with banded patients. Check with your doctor, they typically have a list. Good luck!

Hi There, I drink a little with meals but I'm really careful to slip slowly. Most of the time, I try to drink beforehad though. I've been lucky. I don't burp anything up since I sip just a bit at a time. Don't be nervous about the surgery. Its worth it. Its the first time in my life I've ever lost 25 lbs without dieting. Its well worth it!

Don't give up. The band isn't working for you yet. Once you get a fill (s) you will not have the want to to eat desert. You will be stuffed after dinner. I took 4 fills until I had the best restriction. There is no way for me to eat desert. I think you will be much happier after you get some restriction.

Good for you! I'm glad you stuck it to that Doctor and did the right thing. He should have known better!

Super easy. They ask you about your dieting history, your life in general, meds you are on, etc. Its hard to be denied. An example of a denial would be someone who was unemployed using their life savings for example. That was the only denial my Doctor told me about. They don't pry too much, they just want to know you have tried everything possible to lose the weight.

Love the repost. It reminds me again as to why I am doing this and to be patient with the fills and weight loss. I'm losing a lb a week and so far its better than gaining. Thanks again.

Banded over a year ago, no luck so far!
juliegeraci replied to bkgrandma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If it were me I would definitely go under flouroscope for a fill. The band works but right now your band isn't working because you have no fill. You should keep the faith and give it a chance. A fill is super easy and the stuff you have to drink is like a chalky milkshake. Not too bad. I had to do that because my doctor caught me cheating early on and he wanted to make sure I didn't slip the band. Good luck. Keep the band faith. -
My doctor says I am right on track losing 1 lb a week. I'm down 23 lbs. I have been discouraged. The hardest part for me is giving up the alcohol. I need to constantly remind myself why I did this. I need support.

Anyone out there have trouble with consumption too much alcohol

I'm banded since June 6th and I think the empty alcohol calories hurt me. How about you. -
HELP...Is this the right thing to do???????
juliegeraci replied to April's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was freaking out too. You will do fine. Keep the faith. -
warm liquids seem to help me most.

I feel like I have struggled from day 1. I was banded on June 6th and I've lost about 15 lbs total. I finally have some good restriction so I am hoping this will help . One of my biggest issues is alcohol consumption. I am trying not to drink too much but sometimes I want to drink so the calories are empty.

Finally! I had my 3rd fill and now the weight is finally coming off. I've lost 3 lbs since my last fill. I am so happy!

How long did you keep your stitches covered?
juliegeraci replied to ginger's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I took mine off fairly quickly without any problems. I would say you are safe to remove the bandage. -
Its been a really big up and down road for me with the band as well. I was banded on June 6th and so far I'm down about 15 lbs. I am getting restriction finally and hope that I will continue to lose weight. Its just been difficult without having restriction.
-
The first fill I had went away fairly quickly. Its because of the fat around the stomach. I would get another fill as soon as you can. I've had 2 fills and I'm ready for another. Don't be shy.
