I am so happy I got the band. I have never looked back. I know sometimes I think about food and wanting bigger portions but that is quite normal. I'm just really happy. I don't remember a time when it was as easy for me to lose 30 lbs as it has been from the band. I thank God every day that I found the band a such a wonderful Doctor. Thanks for the post. Julie

no family support for having surgery..lots of guilt though
juliegeraci replied to misltoe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Misltoe, Congrats on your decision to take control of your life. I know it must be difficult not to have the support around you. This forum should help. Good luck with your surgery. You will not regret it. -
I feel like I can eat anything and there is no band!
juliegeraci replied to Betsyjane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, you have to heal first. I think my doctor waited about 6 weeks before my first fill. It might have been a month I don't remember. You will feel a ton better after 1 or 2 fills. Good luck. -

Betsy, like the other responses. The band doesn't work until you get your first fill. You will be okay after that. I've had 4 fills now and the weight is really coming off. Good luck. -
Denise, way to go girl. Isn't it exciting. I just got into size 22 myself. I haven't been that size for at least 10 years as well.

Jumping through the hoops
juliegeraci replied to sprintman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Sprintman, You will find that you are far more satisfied after surgery. It is true that you can only do 3 meals a day. Some days I even have trouble getting those down, I'm not kidding. What you are feeling is natural. Good luck to you -
repost:were you sure you wanted surgery?
juliegeraci replied to Kaydotrn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Kay, I was to the point I had tried everything. I think I've done Weight Watchers at least 10 times. I love my band and I would never go back to my old ways. It is so nice to have less hunger and be satisfied so much sooner. Life is good. 30 lbs down without dieting. Its wonderful and I would never look back. Good luck. -
Hi June Bandsters, Hard to believe all this time has gone by. I'm right on track while losing just over 30 lbs. My doctor is thrilled. I do feel like I am a slow loser but 1-2 lbs a week I am right on track. I went down 1 size already which is a miracle. The first time in my life I haven't dieted and it feels so good to be in control. Good luck to everyone.

Nathalie, I remember when I was approved. Its such an exciting time. This is the first time in my life I've ever been able to lose 30+ lbs without dieting. It is a miracle to say the least. Good luck in your lapband adventure. You will love the way you view food when its done. Less hunger, more fulfillment. I'm happy for you. Good luck.

I'm doing great since my 3rd fill. Down 30 lbs now. -
Thanks for the vote of encouragement. Its nice to look back and say to yourself how happy you are with the results of being banded. I too am happy. Funny how I look at food so differently now. That is what I enjoy most. Good luck on your continued success.

I was banded on June 6th and I've been slightly discouraged that I have only lost 25 lbs. My Doctor said that I am totally on track with the 1 lb a week. Well today I went in for a visit and I was down another 5 lbs for a total of 30 lbs. I am really excited.:clap2:

I went through the same thing. I even gained before a fill! I am now down 30 lbs. You should only lose 1-2 lbs a week so you are right on track! Keep with it.

Did you question the surgery or were you sure?
juliegeraci replied to Kaydotrn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sorry.....I never have lost 30 lbs without dieting. This isn't a diet. This is a lifestyle that goes with you wherever to are. Your band is your friend! -

I was very nervous the week of my surgery. I knew it was my last ditch effort. I definately am not looking back. Best of luck. -
worried that my lap band is not working
juliegeraci replied to ottertail41's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like you need another fill. If you have the bigger band I believe they can put a ton of saline in it. You may be 2 or 3 fills away from where you need to be. Good luck. -
Ruby, you are doing great. I am a slow loser losing 25 lbs since June. Congrats on your success to date.

I want a Big Mac in a bad way
juliegeraci replied to fitzgerald's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Funny, if you ordered a big mac and fries you would probably only get 2-3 bites in! Good luck. -
2 Weeks after surgery, need advice!
juliegeraci replied to LDM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Purtynailz, you are lucky. My doctor said that the band isn't activated until the first fill. I guess there are some that don't need them. In her case, she probably does. You are lucky! -
Why can I still eat alot????
juliegeraci replied to alicat3924's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need a fill. You will feel much better after that. Good luck. -

Just remember that your band isn't working until your first fill. You will naturally be more hungry until that time. Good luck. -
I eat even when I'm full
juliegeraci replied to permapms's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The band works. If you over indulge you will throw up. I think your thoughts around food will definitely change. Good luck.
