Hi Dr. Shulman, I had a tummy tuck on 4/21. The surgeon did lippo too. I still have quite a bit of upper abdomenal fat. Is this common after a tummy tuck? I can't have lippo revision for 6 months. The swelling has gone down all that it will so its not swelling. Julie

What you are experiencing is reflux. Reflux is definitely a sign of being too tight. I would get .3 removed and go from there.

What you are experiencing is normal given the fact you haven't had a fill yet. You will feel better once you start to get fills. Good luck. -
It is a sign of being too tight. If you can't take Prilosec and it doesn't help you will need a slight unfill. I would start with .3ccs. Good luck.

Steph, I am not sure if I'm happy with my tt nor not. I do still have some upper abdomenal fat. I know you said you have the same. My pannus is completely gone however. If I were to take my hands and pinch the fat on my abdomen I can gather probably 1 1/4 inch still. How much do you have? I am thinking about a lippo revision in 6 months. It will cost me $3k.

That is totally ironic. I am really glad you were able to take that. It is so worth it. Good luck!

Getting tighter, gurgling, reflux and regurgitation at night. HELP!

Apry, girlfriend, you are too tight! I can bet my life on it. I would get a slight unfill of .3 or something along those lines. -
i am so confused.. about foods and fullness

Hi there. Restriction is a really sticky subject. I would get a fill if a. you are hungry within a couple hours b. can't lose weight c. have no restriction. With good restriction you really can't eat more than 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food at a time. Good luck finding the right level. It takes months sometimes. -
You have to temper it. If it hurts going down I wouldn't have it. I drink champagne on a regular basis without problem. You need to just try it to see if it gives you any gas or backup problems. Enjoy.

I think that 3-4ccs is really good. I would push for that. -
Great fill. Congrats.

You can eat anything that fits through a straw. I would move to a creamy soup. You have to make it with milk so it will give you some extra protein.

11 Days Post-op and Hungry!!!
juliegeraci replied to HotMama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kris, you are on the healing stages until you hit the 6 week mark. That is when you can get a fill. Try and stay to 1 cup of food per meal, lots of protein. You will start to lose once you gain restriction. -
Teddy, it sounds like you are too tight. If you have reflux and are PBing you are too tight. Can you get solid protein down? If not, you are too tight. With good restriction you may only eat 1/4 cup of food. But if you PB you are too tight. Good luck trying to find the balance. I too have 15 lbs to go. Its tough finding the right fill level. Good luck.

Beth, the lapband works 2 ways. First of all, with good restriction you will feel full longer. Second of all, you will not be able to consume big servings of food. Restriction does take some time but it is well worth it.

Stick to these boards where you will get support. Its the only way to go. Good luck. -
Wendy, congrats on the weight loss and restriction. Isn't it great?!
-
My doctor has me wait 2 weeks in between fills. I would definitely move your fill up. I too have a 4cc band. I don't get restriction until I hit 3 ccs. Good luck.

United Health Care and Doctor's recommendation

I have UHC and I believe my plan had me to be BMI of 40 with no comorbesities. They approved the surgery without a 6 month diet as well. -
If I Had Known Then What I Know Now
juliegeraci replied to Abrandnewday's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I knew how long it took to get good restriction. It took me over 6 months to get good restriction. I have probably had 15-20 fills and unfills over 2 years. -
Would you belive it! 1 year later and my family
juliegeraci replied to VegasGrace's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is fabulous news. Who would have thought that it would affect your entire family. That is great. -
Very negative comment from fill doctor.

The say that RYN is more successful is just wrong. At year 3 the lapband and RYN is the same at 65% of excess weight loss. Its 85% at year 2 with RYN but most gain back at least 20%. Seeing that the results are the same, I would pick lapband over RYN. Good luck. -
Just facial stuff here....

Hi Terri, my surgeon wanted $1500 but I talked him down to $1k. It turned out better than my tummy tuck. So glad I did it. -
It took me about a week to be able to go back to work. Take your time and recuperate.
