Insurance help needed, please
juliegeraci replied to imsusie0929's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't know the cost of surgery but because lapband is a specialized surgery they may take your claim out of network. It is worth a shot. Mine was out of network. good luck. -
Praying for a band soon :)
juliegeraci replied to panda's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Panda, I hope your new insurance covers your surgery. I had to jump through hoops as well and they finally covered it out of network. It was well worth it. Most doctors do take a payment plan so hopefully that will work out for you. Good luck. -

Hi Becca, welcome to lapband forum. There is a ton of information on this site so have fun surfing. You will do great in surgery. Yes, the old food habits may be an issue. But if you eat small quantities and make sure you get your protein in you shouldn't have any problem losing weight. Good luck. -

Hi Anne, welcome to lapband forum. It sounds like you are in the right place. I think your attitude is great. You have given dieting everythng and that is why the band is so great. I wish you the best of luck on your discovery and your surgery. -
This surgery is very noninvasive. The only thing that hurt a little bit was the incision sites. You will do fine. Best of luck finding out more information. Its a time to really learn about the band. Good luck.

Hi Rene, welcome to the lapband forum. You will be fine with the 10 days off. In fact, you may get bored! I was only off for 4 or 5 days and was ready to get back into the swing of things. Have fun the next few weeks before surgery. Once you are banded it will be a whole new life. Good luck.

Hi Kim, you are doing great. I had some weight gain early on as well. A fill should help you. Good luck. -

juliegeraci replied to Minniegiggl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I drove a few days after surgery without any problem. I took a out 4 or 5 days off of work and was back into the swing of things. As far as having the port removed this is uncommon. You can live with your band (provided it is healthy) for a long time. Good luck. -

Wanta Know About Reflux Problems
juliegeraci replied to patsygrn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My band introduced reflux pretty bad. I took Pepcid AC and it subsided after about 2 weeks into surgery. You should be fine if you stay on your medication. Good luck. -
Hi Dee, I'm 5'9 and weight 252 lbs right now. Prior to surgery I was 282. I had lost about 40 lbs on my own. You sound like you can get into really good shape. The best shape I was ever in was when I did martial arts as well. I'm so out of shape the most I can do is 30 minute workout at Curves. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted on your progress.

2 weeks old in my banded life
juliegeraci replied to makemelean's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did the same thing and was balled out by my doctor. Please be careful and follow the doctors diet as you can slip your band. Particularly since you are in the healting phase. Don't be hard on yourself. Just get back on track. Good luck, you are doing great. -
Mosytif, welcome to the lapband forum. Good luck with your weight loss.

Newly banded and looking for new friends!
juliegeraci replied to mamamanikay's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi There. Welcome to the lapband forum. I remember getting my first fill. I was up a few lbs so it was perfect timing. As a cautionary measure, make sure your doctor uses a numbing agent before he inserts the needle. Some do but some don't unless you ask. I hear it can be quite painful particularly if they have to stick you more than once to find the port. Hang in there, you are doing great. -
First of all, you can have restriction at different periods of the day. My band is very fickle. Sometimes I can eat quite a bit (1 cup or so) other times I can't get 5 bites down. So what you are describing is normal. Regarding eating at work. It sounds like you need to slow down a bit. You should have pressure before you PB. There should be a signal. Regarding the 45 minute PB. That is a long time. I usually vomit once or twice then move on. You may want to ask your doctor about that. good luck.

I'm 6 months post op and I get the growling in my stomach big time. I do feel hungrier. This has just happened recently. good luck.

I chose lapband because it was noninvasive. The thought of the other surgery sounds much more difficult. On your case, if you have so much to lose just remember this..the lapband takes more time than the bypass. You can lose 1-2 lb a week once you hit a certain mark. I like the fact that the lapband is up to me in some regard. I can still eat sweets and drink alcohol. I also heard that the malabsorption is a problem with gastric bypass. Getting the right nutrition will be very important. Good luck with your quest.

I went to Curves again today. I love it.

Hi Rubyjade, welcome to the laband forum. Sounds like you are doing well. Don't worry too much about that 20 lbs. It will be off in no time. Good luck.
-
Mel, if you don't get a response here add it to the "complications" forum. Dr. C always checks there.

Does this Sound like a Dilation problem?
juliegeraci replied to juliesam's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like you need another fill or 2. I didn't have restriction until my 3rd fill. What you are describing is an empty band. You should only be able to consume 800-1200 calories a day. Good luck.
