Hi Giantangel, glad your surgery went okay. Sounds like you have the post op diet down which is very important. Congrats on your weight loss already. Remember that the first 6 weeks or so are the time to heal. Don't worry if you get a little hungrier. Chances are you will not though. That is the amazing thing about the lapband. Did you know when the new pouch or stomach is created there are sensors in your stomach which tell you you are not hungry. That is why with our new pouches we have less hunger. Its amazing. Good luck to you!

Hi Geoff, sounds like you are doing really well. Your weight might come off faster than mine has. I am definitely a lb a weeker. I've lost 30 in 6 months. Better than gaining but it can be a slow process. I am going in for my 4th fill today. I think I'm at around 4ccs but I'm not sure exactly. I have been able to eat larger quantities so I'm ready again. Best of luck.

New to this awesome site!
juliegeraci replied to Dandy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Mandy, I have 3 incisions about 1" long. Funny sometimes I wonder how he actually got the band in! About your recovery time. I would say a week is ample. I took off about 5 days and was fine. I am not on my feet all the time though so you may be a little tired when you go back to work. You should be fine to pick up your son soon after surgery. I would check with your doctor. Just make sure he doesn't jump on you as you will be sore. Best of luck. Let us know how you are doing. -
Hi Sal, I sure hope surgery works out for you. Its amazing how time flies and our weight can go up. My high was 320. I am now down to 250 range. I had lost 40 lbs before surgery cutting out sugar and carbs and just trying to get my healthy in general. I sure would like to hear more a out your success. I really pray you get the help you are looking for. It takes a lot of courage in your circumstance to come out and ask for help. I hope you can become more mobile through this experience as well. Keep us posted.

Hi Connie, I have been banded for 6 months. The post op diet is important to follow. My doctor recommended anything that could pass through a straw. Start with you liquids then move to soups and then creamier, heavier soups. I also ate yogurt and pudding post op. Good luck to you. -
Hi Anna, welcome to the lapband forum. Congrats on your pending surgery.

I'm 6 months out and have only lost 30lbs. My meals flexuate. I find it hard to get in my protein. I've had restriction issues. Sometimes I am tight and other times I can eat well over 2 cups. I am feeling down and discouraged. I joined Curves and that seems to be helping. Anyone out there has had a hard time I would greatly appreciate your input. I guess I need to level set my expectations about the band. I just thought it would be easier for me. That is all.

Hi Lauren, hope you are doing well. My surgeon explained everything to me and showed me what the lapband was made of. Generally speaking I would assume your appointment would be similar. They also talk about diet. He may put you on a presurgery diet beforehand. Good luck. I'm anxious to hear your progress.

I have 3 incisions about an 1" each. You can definitely see them. -
Hi Wendy, welcome to the lapband forum. Isn't it great! I hope your insurance approval and everything else goes okay with you. I had to go out of network but mine was covered, thank God. Good luck.
-
Hi Elmo, sorry to hear your circumstances. I wish you had the lapband surgery as we would have more to talk about. Not sure how to get you out of the funk. Are you able to walk or join another weight loss forum? I know it sucks when you have tried everything. I hope at some point you will be able to experience the benefits of the band. Good luck.

Surby, isn't restriction the best! I'm glad you can finally feel it. I have had 3 fills as well and I had restriction up until a few days ago. I go in for tune up Monday. Good luck.

Alexandra, glad your husband is okay. The only thing I can say is get rid of all the junk that is left in your house. Recommit to the band and go get a fill. That is a lot of food to consume. Hopefully in the future with a fill you will be left with just 1 taco and not the rest. Good luck.

I haven't had to have a fill taken out but I did have reflux pretty bad after surgery. I would suggest Pepcid AC or anything over the counter for reflux. I felt 100% better and it hasn't come back since. Good luck.

Anxiety waiting Going NUTS
juliegeraci replied to coltonwade's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Mindy, sorry to hear about your waiting game. I remember how excited I was having my surgery. I know time will fly for you but try and have patience. Hopefully the job your husband is on will pay in time for you to move forward rapidly. I love my lapband. I'm a slow loser as I have lost 30 lbs in 6 months but I feel better. Good luck to you. -
Need a fill or pouch stuffing?
juliegeraci replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the input. I've been scared the last couple of days. I was able to eat 2/3 of a big filet mignon last night and today I was able to get down an entire 6" subway sandwich, bread and all. I just hope my band is okay. I go into the Doctor on Monday. I am really looking forward to speaking with him. Thanks fo the input. Glad to know I'm not alone. -
I am finally joining the club.

Elaine, welcome to the lapband forum. One of the things you will find with the band is your hunger is gone. It may take you a fill or 2 but mine was just after surgery. Good luck. -
Paige, good luck with whatever you decide. It sounds like you have been through hell. I don't blame you for wanting the band out. I really hope you find what you are looking for and you feel better soon.

Can't Really Feel my Fill from Yesterday...
juliegeraci replied to ssmanzo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with Barbara. For some reason sometimes the fill takes a little time. Good luck. -
My doc pefered 8wks before 1st fill, but......
juliegeraci replied to AngelaT's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My first fill was at 4 weeks. I think it was about 1.5cc but I'm not sure. I need to find out what size band that I have. I have no idea how much it holds. My restriction is gone completely after 3 fills. -
Turner, don't worry too much about that 6 lbs. I gained about the same before I had a fill. You will be fine. Good luck.

Lap Band Talk Newbie Here!! How soon did you get your 1st fill post-op?
juliegeraci replied to mamamanikay's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine was at 4 weeks. that sound perfect. -
Frogger, what you are feeling is completely normal. It may take 2 or 3 fills to get to a good restriction level. When they give you a fill they have you sip water. You should feel a girgling sound when it goes down. That will show you what level your restriction will be. Good luck.

My doctor said the bite size should be no more than the tip of your pinky finger. Hope this helps.

Congrats on your new bundle of joy. I had surgery with Doctor McKeen as well. Sounds like you are doing well. Good luck with the remaining lbs.
