The Countdown Begins!
juliegeraci replied to SeattleEbeth's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wouldn't worry too much. If your doctor doesn't have you on a preop diet I would indulge until surgery. So what if you gain a lb or 2. Lapband is for life and the changes will come. Enjoy. Have a 6" subway for me please. -
3-days after gasx feels much better
juliegeraci replied to Scorpio's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Scorpio, I would avoid chewing the meat. I would try and eat around it. Best of luck. -
The is one of the benefits of the band. I didn't feel hungry at all. Hopefully you will feel the same.

It actually sounds like you are at the right fill level. If you aren't PB'ing after you eat a 1/2 cup of chili it sounds perfect. I would see how you do in the next week. But from where I sit it doesn't look like you are too tight. Good luck.

Non scale victory ie. losing a size.

Hello - Considering Lap Band - NYC
juliegeraci replied to benbax's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Benbax, welcome to the lapband forum. The lapband is a great tool. My weight loss has been a little slower than I would have liked. I am losing 1 lb a week. So keep in mind all of us are different. Remember its a tool. I love my band though. I've lost 32 lbs in 6 months. The first time in my life I have lost without trying. Good luck. -
Dr C question regarding Carbonation

That you all for your responses. -
I don't ever feel the band or the port.
-
Overall I would say my family and friends were very supportive. Be careful who you tell. Its 100% your decision on what you do with your body. I would just keep the communication to a bare minimum. Good luck.
-
congrats on your success. It is so great to hear!

Its normal to be stressed out about the surgery. I had a complete meltdown prior. Don't worry too much about your job. You will probably be back and up within 5 days. The surgery is very easy. Good luck.
-
Mine took between 6 and 8 weeks. I had to go to a physh eval, dietician, lab work and insurance approval. I would say that is ample time. Good luck.

I have United Healthcare. They covered 100%.

questions for a newbie who is doing this alone
juliegeraci replied to flowerpot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, hunger can appear after lapband surgery. Just make sure you stay on your diet you are suppose to follow. The healing stage is a minimum of 4 weeks. As far as a fill goes, my doctor did my first fill in the first 6 weeks. You may not feel restriction in the beginning and it make take more than 1 fill. I am on my 4th fill since June. Good luck. -
a newbie in need of some support.....
juliegeraci replied to shalina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Shalina, liquid passes really quickly through the band so if you feel the need to eat every 15 minutes you will be okay. The band will not stretch if the liquids are through it. I would take it easy and just continue to do what you are doing. Good luck. -

Two Days After Surgry & Hurting
juliegeraci replied to Scorpio's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please take it slow my dear. You can do major damage by eating too soon. Go back on the doctors diet right away. You need to call the doctor and tell them about the gas and ask them what to do for it. You should be fine in a few days. -
Dr. Phil tomorrow with Sharon Osborne
juliegeraci replied to Chris S. - L.I.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That makes sense. I could swear she had bipass but when I heard the commercial it definitely said gastric "banding". -
Dr. Phil tomorrow with Sharon Osborne

She was big years ago. She definitely needed some intervention then but I don't know how much weight she actually lost up until now. -
Before First Fill question.....Or is it just me ...
juliegeraci replied to mikkozoe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Laura, be good to yourself during this phase. Without restriction you truly don't know what the band is capable of. You may not find that 1 fill will give you the level of restriction you desire so be patient. -
Tired of negative press from weight loss companies
juliegeraci replied to derbygirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I completely agree. Its sad that weight loss companies only look at the negative sides of weight loss surgery. The band is a great alternative to gastric bypass. Good luck.
