can you drink alcohol after your body has been banded and healed?
juliegeraci replied to Summer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can drink alcohol with no problem. Just remember the empty calories but other than that you are okay. Good luck. -

Not positive I should go thru with lap band
juliegeraci replied to njmomof3's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Rhonda, I know this is a personal decision, but the lapband has very low minimal affects. I wouldn't trade my lapband for anything. Best of luck to you on your decision. -

How long should it take to eat?
juliegeraci replied to tardisintime's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think if you keep your meal down to 30 minutes you aren't eating too much . Anything over that I think you are trying to trick your band. Good luck. -
protein shakes, yogurt, meat, cheese sticks, cottage cheese with a baked potato. Alcohol is what kills me.

I'm just sick of being obese. I was able to lose 40 lbs on my own from 320 to 282 before surgery. This has been so freeing. I've never been able to lose weight without hunger before. The lapband has set me free. I'm down 34 lbs since June. I'm considered a slow loser. Although my doctor says I am average at 1 lb a week. I still an thrilled to have my lapband. 6 more lbs and I'm 1/2 way to goal. Happy Holidays

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
juliegeraci replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It depends on if your doctor is agressive filler or not. You may want to try over 2ccs at first. Mine started at 1 and I needed another fill within 2 weeks. So far I've had 4 fills at $200 each =$800 out of pocket. -

2 days since surgery

Hiccups are completely normal. That is one sign of being full. So make sure you stop if you get hiccups. You will probably be sore and a little tired the next week. Make sure you are taking it easy. My port was sore that I remember for sure. Make sure you stay on the doctors diet. It is really important while you heal. Good luck. -
For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

Hi Bret, I have the 10cc band. My first fill was somewhere at 1.0. I am on fill #4 and finally at 3.0. I think if you want good restriction I would start there. My doctor mentioned that sometimes when you lose weight you also lose it inside, thus he had to adjust me so much. I feel good at 3.0 but I'm sure soon I'll be looking for 3.2 or more. Good luck. You'll love your band. -
You look great. Its time for some new clothes!

Sorry for your loss. That motivates me even more. Thank you.

Hi Sherilynn, that is a great way to look at things. I have to remind myself of that every day. I'm down 34 lbs and 72 lbs since my high. It nicr to not be in a size 24 anymore. Good luck.

Carlene, that is a sad story. What a jerk. I really hope this young woman can mature in the right direction. How can you mature when you are constantly treated like a child. That is really unfortunate. My Space isn't that bad. You can protect yourself on the web you just need to know how.

I tolerate egg salad the best. I get really sick on tuna salad. Must be the consistency. Good luck.

Kitty, I eat chinese food all the time. I try and stay on course with a chicken dish. I eat all the chicken first to make sure I get in my protein. I then move to the broccoli beef. So far I am surprised I am able to eat as much as I am. Probably a sign of needing a fill. Have fun and I say go for it. Enjoy. Just stop when you feel full.

Happy Birthday, thanks for all your insight.

Alyssa, don't be too hard on yourself. Getting the right fill level makes all the difference in the world. I would just try and cut your portions down until you can get another fill. Keep the faith and use the fills as a tool. I'm on #4 and I'm not sure if I need another one or not. Keep the faith. You can do this. Good luck.
