How long after Psych evaluation...
juliegeraci replied to ShayDee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was probably within 2-3 weeks. The insurance is the only thing that hung me up. Good luck. -
Hi welcome to lapbandtalk forum. You are doing great. Keep up the good work.

What Foods Do You Miss?
juliegeraci replied to carmillejoanita's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can honestly say that I miss eating a nice big Subway sandwich. I was able to eat only 1 before my last fill. It was the best sandwich I have ever eaten! -
Great to hear. Now it is time to heal. Please make sure you stick to the doctors recommended diet. I cheated and got into trouble! Good luck.

I'm sitting here typing and it has dawned on me that my wedding ring is about ready to fly off my hand. Never before has it felt so loose. I have a scale victory to report as well. I went to the doctor yesterday and I was down another 5 lbs for a total of 37 lbs so far. I'm happy today.

My fills are $200 but I know it can vary.

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
juliegeraci replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I learned something new yesterday. Apparently my 10cc band only hold 4.2cc of saline. -
Sounds like you may not be filled enough. I would wait another week and see. If you are still hungry and aren't losing I would bump up the fill. What size band do you have? How much was put in?

yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. is considered a mushy stage. If you are suppose to be only on liquids then it is anything that can fit through a straw. Soups is a good one for example.

Poll: Post Op restriction vs. sweet spot
juliegeraci replied to BabyGotBack's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sometimes you can have restriction like what you are explaining and other time you don't. In my case I could easily eat a normal portioned meal so I needed a fill. Sounds like you are still early in the healing stage and may have some swelling which feels like restriction. I would be curious if you have the same level of restriction in a few weeks. Glad you are doing well. I love my band. -
I had my gall bladder removed 5 years ago right after the birth of my son. I didn't have it out post lapband.

Poll: Post Op restriction vs. sweet spot
juliegeraci replied to BabyGotBack's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm at my sweet spot. I have 3ccs in a 10cc band (which holds up to 4.2cc). A sweet spot is when you a)are losing steadily b)don't feel as much hunger c)can eat a fair amount of food and not PB. Its great. I am not hungry all day and eat like a bird now. It took me 5 fills to get to this level. How are you doing post op? -
this will be interesting!

I found it before surgery. I love this site. -
1cc fill on Dec 15. Can't eat much. Pain.
juliegeraci replied to buzzp's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would have a slight unfill. It sounds like you are just too tight. -

My 10cc band only holds 4.2 ccs. I found this out yesterday at my fill. I have 3ccs and am now at the sweet spot. -
Welcome back. Good job making the decision to get another fill. That should really help you in the long run.
-
The first fill doesn't do too much. I would definitely go back in for a 2nd fill. Good luck.
-
I have a 10cc band that holds 4.2ccs. I am currently at 3cc fill level and I've hit my sweet spot. Good luck.
-
Sherilynn, that is great news. It is always nice to have someone in your corner. Good job.

I never double guessed my decision. I know the lapband has risks but I also know there are rare slippage and erosion. I am so happy with my lapband. Dr. Ortiz has a wonderful program. I would go for it. The facility is suppose to be really nice and he is a wonderful doctor. Don't second guess yourself. You can do this. The band is wonderful. Keep in mind the people who have only lost 20 lbs might not be working with the band properly. You have to get fills for restriction and you have to watch your portion control along with exercise. That being said, I am considered a slow loser at 1 lb a week. I have lost 39 lbs since June. I love my band. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Go for it. Its wonderful.

On A Road To Find The Sweet Spot
juliegeraci replied to gottaluvave's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You don't have very much in your band. What size band do you have? I'm at 3cc in a 10cc band. It can hold up to 4.2cc. I am just finding my sweet spot now. Good luck. -
Should I get my passport in order before making scheduling LBS?
juliegeraci replied to luv2bingo07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Get it now. -
That is fabulous news. I can't wait until I hit that too. Good job.

Help! Pain! Has this ever happen to you too?
juliegeraci replied to sweetsue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all I think you are overfilled. You should be able to eat far more than you are. Second, I think you need to address the acid reflux. I would get on some Pepcid AC or one of those drugs. That should really help you out. Good luck.
