Lucly, welcome to band land. Congrats on making this life changing decision. I think your head is in the right place regarding your concern about overeating. You can overeat with the band. You can eat around it. High fat foods, milkshakes, candy, you name it. Just go into this knowing you will have to give those foods up to be successful. I no longer want those foods. Occasionally I prefer a Jamba Juice over a milkshake. They are great replacements. Mind you, they can be 400 calories though. Anyway, glad you posted. Good luck to you.

Puddin, glad you came through with flying colors. You will look great!

I have no problem with ab work. I'm 7 months post op right now. I've been doing ab work since 8 weeks post op without problems.

I'm at my sweet spot. I have 3ccs in a 10cc band (which holds up to 4.2ccs). It feels really good. I eat like a bird, I'm losing and I don't PB that much. That is what I call a sweet spot. You can get there too. The fainting you felt is probably normal if you were in pain at all. It might have been a side affect and you may have not even been aware that you were in pain. Hang in there, it should be better next time.

Fluoro shows restriction but I don't feel it!

Betsy, what size band do you have and how many ccs are in it? I have a 10cc band which holds 4.2 and I'm at 3ccs. -
My doctor just used that on me and it is working. I had 2.5ccs out when he had put 3ccs in. So it was a very slow leak. He said the solution always works. Best of luck to you.

I had .5cc evaporate. My doctor put in a syrum that is like fixing a flat tire. He said it always works. Ask your doctor about it. That may be what you need. I have a 10cc band that holds 4.2ccs. Good luck.

Hi Lbutts, congrats on getting the ball rolling. It is so exciting. I love my band. I wish you the best of luck. -
60 grams but I have also read that you will not kill yourself if you stay in the 40-45 gram range. You may lose some hair though. I have a tough time getting all my protein in.

I don't have a specific diet. I eat what I want and stop when I'm full. I do lean towards yogurts, cottage cheese and foods like that. I do like meat but chicken doesn't seem to set as well with me. Anyway, congrats on being banded. I love my band.

Sherilynn, congrats on being able to join your support group with the doctor. It just amazed me about that gentleman that asked so stupid questions. He obviously isn't ready like you. You will love your band. I love mine too. Good luck to you. -
Current weight 241.5 with 3.5 lbs to goal.

Courtney, best of luck to you.

Hi everyone, its been a while since I posted to this thread. I had my 5th fill to 3ccs in my 10cc band (which holds 4.2cc). I finally am at my sweet spot. I am never hungry, I swear. Anyway, I am 1/2 way to goal as of this a.m. I am down 41 lbs since being banded in June. I lost 40 lbs preop so that make 81 lbs total. I feel like a new person. I just need to start exercising so I don't end up a flabby mess. Thanks for listening.

I'm obsessed with the scale. I weigh myself every day. That way I know what I am eating is affecting me from the day before. So it helps me to know what not to eat.

I've been banded since June 6th and today I am 1/2 way to goal. I've lost 41 lbs to date and I want to lose another 41 lbs. I lost 40 lbs preop as well. I want to reach 200 lbs in the next 6-7 months. That would put me a year+ out and at goal. This is great. Thanks for your support. I love this forum. God bless!:rose:

It sounds like you are doing the right things. A hot cup of tea is exactly what your doctor will tell you. If that doesn't work you may want a slight unfill. I wouldn't go tighter. That way you could eat more consistently throughout the day and not be as hungry at night. That is what I would do. Best of luck.

is restriction simply feeling full sooner?
juliegeraci replied to susandavis's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Susan, it sounds like you might need another fill. I read on another post that her first fill in a 10cc band was 4ccs and she now has restriction. Some doctors gradually fill others are more agressive. Good luck. -
I never feel my band. I do feel it working though. I don't have food cravings like I use to. I love my band. I'm so happy with it. Good luck.
-
Bret, what you are experiencing is restriction. That is normal. If you have difficulty eating just make sure you really cut down your portions down and chew really well. You will know if u are filled too much believe me. Best of luck.

Cheryl, welcome to lapbandtalk forum. Congrats on making this life changing decision. I've been banded since June and I've lost 41 lbs so far. You will do great.

Liz, I wish you nothing but the best. You are doing great. Congrats on making this life changing decision. -
Hi Lisas, welcome to lapband talk forum. You will love it here. Best of luck to you with your surgery.

My doctor sat me down and talked all about the difference between banding and bipasss. He showed me the band and we talked about obesity as a non curable disease. It can only be monitored through diet and exercise. We talked all about my dieting history, how I had tried everything. It was a great meeting. I didn't go to the support group before being banded. I just wanted it. Anyway, it took me about 8 weeks before I was banded after I put the wheels in motion. Hope your surgery is quick. It gets really exciting and once you make up your mind and you want it it is good if it is sooner than later. Best of luck.

Here is my reality: The surgery itself was a breeze for me. I felt a little nausea but took medicine for it. My port side was the most painful. I had to sleep on my other side. I think it took me a few weeks to feel less pain to sleep on my left side. I had no restriction initially but I also didn't feel any hunger. I've had 5 fills to date. My fills are out of pocket at $200 each. Finally I'm at my sweet spot. The sweet spot is when you are losing at a good pace, don't feel hungry and aren't PB'ing regularly. If I overeat I do PB. That is a given. I especially can eat Mexican food the best. I love it. Chili rellenos go down perfectly. I think it is because they are mushy. Anyway, I am considered a slow loser at 1 lb a week. I have just hit the 41 lb mark which is 1/2 way to goal. My goal was 82 lbs post op. I also lost 40 lbs in 2 years before banding. I love my band. I wouldn't take it out for anything. I hope your journey is successful and you enjoy your band as much. Good luck.
