Marion, are you still on antibitoics? Will a nose spray help? I would wait until early July to change your mind. How much more weight do you have to lose?
-
Nettie, it really comes down to loving yourself at any weight. Do you think you need some counseling? What if you buy some cute new outfits to wear. Will that help? Love yourself.

Are you on liquids or mushies yet? If you are on liquids try creamy soups. If you are on mushies try chili, tuna sald or chicken salad.

Congrats on your impending surgery. You will love being banded. -
This is my 2 year band anniversary. I am now 15 lbs from goal with 75% of my weight gone for good. I love my lapband!
-
Lapband is great. I've been banded years and have lost 70 lbs. I am 15 lbs from goal. You will enjoy food more. You will not be as hungry and food will satisify you more while you lose! Its the best thing I've ever done.

I have been banded 2 years. I was banded at 285 and am down to 215. I have 15 lbs until goal. My lapband surgeon said I am a success at 75% weight loss. I had a tummy tuck 6 weeks ago and feel good. I started in a size 24 and now wear a size 16. I am 5'8 and am happy at that size. One day I may get down to 185 but for now I am happy at 200 lbs. Thanks for the post.

Does anyone know the success rate of lapband surgery?
juliegeraci replied to slim2be's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, I discussed this with my surgeon recently. Its 60% lapband the first year and 80-85% gastic bypass the first year. At year 3 it comes out to about 60-65% for both. Most gastic bypass patients gain back 20-25%. Some people do say lapband is 50%. I'm at 70% year 2. Good luck and I hope this helps. -
As a matter of fact, yesterday at 3pm I was starving and went through the McDonald's drive through and bought a double cheeseburger. I at it all over the course of 3 hours. It does happen. Move on.

Had first fill - How much is too much food per day?
juliegeraci replied to momof5's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
momof5, protein first, vegie second, carb last. 1 cup of food is good. That will decline once you get good restriction so just be aware. -
Just had some almonds as a matter of fact. Just chew well.
-
You are very normal without a fill. It will take you a few fills to hit your sweet spot so you have to be patient. At some point you will go down to 2-4oz. Good luck/.

Perhaps I am Not Bright Enough to be Banded

That is hysterical! I am so glad you laughed at yourself. Thanks for the share. -
Bren649, you can have anything that fits through a straw on the liquid phase. If I were you I would heat up some creamy soup. Its typically made with milk and it was a life saver for me. Good luck.
-
I would consult with your surgeon first and foremost. Sounds like you just need a fill.
-
It took me 5-6 fills to get to my sweet spot.

Hi Holly, it may be because you moved to the mushie stage. It is quite common to gain weight between mushy and even solids. Your caloric intake should be anywhere between 600-800 or 1k maximum. That is what the Dieticians recommend. I would wait it out a few more days or up your calories to 900-1k and see how you do. Don't be too discouraged. Now is the time to heal. The weight loss will come after you begin fills. Good luck.

Hi Bre, I have been banded for 2 years. I have lost 75% of my excess weight. I too tried everything you did. The band is a great tool. I hope you have much success. Julie -
Constant Mucus and Saliva Production
juliegeraci replied to kmays's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would go back to your surgeon. What you are describing is serious reflux which probably means you are too tight. I would start there. -
I am so sorry you have had difficulties. Once you heal you should really like your band. Hang in there!

Time for 2nd fill...errr maybe not?
juliegeraci replied to newhope4me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is quite common. I would see how it goes for you in the next couple days. You can always cancel your appointment. Good luck. -
This is quite common. You may want to move to a protein shake or yogurt in the a.m. until you loosen up. Also, sometimes something warm will help. You are normal.

Found the money so I'm moving forward!!!
juliegeraci replied to ladyinred66's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't be scared. The surgery was a breeze. I was just sore at the port site. You will be fine. -
I would go back to your surgeon. These things can happen. I would suggest seeing if you have stretched your pouch out first. Then I would have a good fill and be on my way. You can take that off in a years time. You can do it.
