Welcome to lapband talk forum. Congrats on your surgery coming up. -
When did people start noticing your weight loss?
juliegeraci replied to mypov's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm down 37 lbs and it is starting to be noticeble now. -
Marissa, it is true that the lapband is more difficult to lose than the bypass. You need to know this. I'm only down 37 lbs in 8 months. My surgeon told me that 30% of your total weight loss is expected in the first year. I am moving along fine but you need to know this. That is why he is trying to persuade you. Everyone is different. You may be a fast loser. I have seen people lose 70 lbs in the same amount of time it took me to lose 40. I hope it goes smoothly for you. Good luck.

I had really bad reflux early on . Are you taking anything for it? I took Pepcid AC and that did the trick. Try it. It took me about a week to feel better.
-
I'm pissed off today. My home scale has been off by 8 lbs. I have to reset my goal again. My starting weight is now 245 with a goal of 10 lbs by 2/14. Nothing like weighing in on your surgeons scale. I learned my lesson the hard way.
-
I am going to go weigh in today at the doctors office. My home scale is playing tricks on me. It has me at 245 today which is off by 8 lbs. That would put me up 7.5 lbs from the beginning. I'll post later today.

Good for you Julie. I'm excited about my weight loss. I can't believe I am under 240 now. Good luck. Next goals we should do St. Patty's Day after V Day.
-
Jules, it is the only way to go. It totally puts me on track as well! You are doing great! Keep up the good work.

I hit my goal! I'm at 237. Please put a stretch goal of 5 more lbs by Valentines Day. -11.5 so far.

Counting my calories, how many should I eat?
juliegeraci replied to HamuChan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I feel bad not eating more than 800 calories a day because I thought it was bad for you. Now I don't feel so bad. Sometimes its difficult to get in much more than that. I feel reassured now. Thanks. -
French onion soup goes down really well. I say go for it.
-
I do well on sushi but I can't eat very much of it. I am lucky to get down 1 roll and maybe to pieces of Unagi. I order the spicy tuna roll and Unagi. Those 2 seem to be the best combination for me. Good luck. I know what it is like to love sushi. Go try some when you are on solids.
-
I would definitley drive 3.5 hours for a fill. You will find them necessary. I have had 5 fills in almost 8 months. I don't know what your restriction level will be so its hard to tell. Good luck.
-
Liberty, hope everything works out for you. I would hate to lose my band too. Good luck.
-
Some bandsters don't believe in this but it works for me. I go back on protein shakes for 1-2 meals a day. That keeps me full and they are only 200 calories each. I then eat a small dinner. Besides exercise and water I would say you should try it.

Larry, congrats on getting banded. The mourning stage is very common. For me, I just let myself mourn and I got over it. I now don't miss food very much. The only thing I miss is a big Subway sandwich believe it or not. I have had 5 fills and I eat like a bird now. I truly do not miss food as much as I thought. The feeling you have will go away, trust me.

I Know this is a BIG NO! But...????
juliegeraci replied to 2boys2cute's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It will not kill you if its once in a while. My doctor said the carbonation can stretch the pouch. When I asked Dr. C the question she said there is no medical evidence of that. I just think you need to be careful that is all. Good luck. -
Pre-Op /Clear Liquid Question
juliegeraci replied to Nella337's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, you can have sugar or sweetners. You can also have creamy soups if you get really hungry. -
Welcome to lapband forum. I eat out all the time. I don't have to tell anyone that I am banded. I like to eat salads the most or a filet mignon. You can also order an appetizer if that is easier for you. I take home what is left or just discard. About the hunger. I am 8 months post op and I am never hungry. On occasion I'll get a growl in my lower stomach but it isn't frequent. Good luck.

You should be fine. The surgery is easy, just a little soreness. I would say you will have no problems.

Banded Yesterday-Need Advice
juliegeraci replied to Nella337's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did your doctor give you any pain meds? If not I would call them and ask for some. I took over the counter liquid Advil. My surgeon said that was okay but in reading these threads I see that Tylenol is the better choice for the band. I would call your surgeon. Gas X worked for me. -
How much did you pay total for pre-op labs, exam & consults?
juliegeraci replied to DooneyJC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My labs were a $10 copay. The nutritionist was a couple hundred. The phsych eval wsa another few hundred. I would say total it was $500-600. -
Hiccups are very commons. I have them all the time. Most of the time it is after I eat though. Good luck to you.

Wanting the Lap Band!
juliegeraci replied to flowergirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Flowergirl, welcome to bandland. I love my band. I don't know what it would be like getting banded at 60 but I do understand how your weight affects you. Best of luck to you on your journey. -
I got banded yesterday!
juliegeraci replied to shannonh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Shannon, I think I was on liquids for 2 weeks then mushies for 2 then solids. I believe that is what I did. It may have been 1 week then 1 week then onto solids. I don't remember. Just follow your doctors orders. Congrats on getting banded.
