Now I'm having 2nd thoughts...Need some feedback!
juliegeraci replied to dotofoz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wasn't hungry before my first fill at 6 weeks. I just needed more restriction. Everyone is different. You doctor might be an agressive filler or not. Mine tended to just add a little then a little more. You will be fine. The lapband is the best. You may find that you don't lose as fast as your friend but just remember this is a life long change. It may take you up to 2 years to reach your goal. Best of luck. -
Been gone a while, but I'm back and on track with my band baby!
juliegeraci replied to StartingOver's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Corinne, be good to yourself. Having a baby is a huge life change. I probably would have gained 50 lbs too. Keep the faith, go in for your fills and just move on from this experience. Good luck. -
Banded 11/22/06 - Lost so far 23 lbs
juliegeraci replied to luving4aliving's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
23 lbs is really good in such a short amount of time. You are doing really well. I would definitely go in for another fill. You should only be able to eat up to 1 cup of food. Try and stay away from the fast food. Its a real killer. Good luck. -

Karen, what a great story. Sorry you went through so much early on. I'm glad you had your health issues resolved and you are on the weight loss road again. Best of luck. -
Hi Spark, welcome to lapbandtalk forum. Congrats on starting your banding process.

Psych Evaluation by Surgeon's Psych
juliegeraci replied to Cats's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its quite common to be referred to a doctors physch eval. You will do fine. -
Its not uncommon to stay at the not hungry stage before your first fill. Its quite common to lose hunger. You may not get it back.
-
How exciting. Good luck with your plastic surgery.
-
I would go in for another fill as soon as possible. It is normal not to feel restriction after your first fill. Don't feel bad. Good luck.

I always ask for the rolls to be cut smaller. They always do it for me.

Question about Recovery
juliegeraci replied to lapband4meNOW's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery was a breeze for me. The only pain I experienced was at the port site incisions. I took off Tues-Fri . My surgery was on a Tues and I was back to work on that Monday. I would say you don't need more than a week. Good luck. -
Welcome and congrats on your life changing decision. The only advice I can give you is if you get really hungry eat creamy soups. Those were a life saver for me. Good luck.
-
Hi Carol, glad you are feeling so well prebanded. Congrats on making this life changing decision.

Difference between Dilated pouch and just needing a fill
juliegeraci replied to AngieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
3.25 is pretty low for a 10cc band. I have seen other threads where some people don't get restriction until at least 4 cc. I would try and get a fill. Chances you have pouch dialation is minimal. It just sounds like you need a fill. Good luck. -
Can you gulp water or drinks?
juliegeraci replied to lapband4meNOW's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes it hurts if I gulp too fast. You need to just be careful. -
Keeping the band a "secret"???
juliegeraci replied to kity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My family and friends definitely know. There were only 2 coworkers that I told . One was a good friend and the other one was my boss. I trusted both of them. -
it won't be long now...
juliegeraci replied to Ravenheart's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Jen, congrats on your impending surgery. You will love your band. -
Spicy food don't bother me or my band at all. I say try them.
-
Angela, congrats on your weight loss to date. Keep up the good work.
-
Mslynn, I'm down about 40 lbs since June. It is really discouraging. Hang in there.
-
It must be because he did my surgery. That is so expensive though. I would be broke if I had to pay that out of pocket. I've had 5 fills in 8 months. I'm going for another one in 2 weeks. Good luck.
-
Cheryl, I'm glad you went to the doctor. You could have really damaged your band. You may see a slight flexuationi in your weight but over time you should be fine. Glad you are feeling better.
-
Okay seriously seeking advice, help, support, whatever you guys can give me!!
juliegeraci replied to apinksoprano's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would call your doctor to have another fill. You should be as hungry nor should you have such an appetite. Good luck. -
I think my doctor is around $10k or so. My fills are out of pocket for $200 each. I've had 5 fills.

A cup is pretty typical until you get a fill. I can only eat 1/4 to 1/2 a cup. Sometimes I can squeeze down a cup if its really soft food like spaghetti. Good luck.
