Jill, congrats on being banded. You're on your way to a new life.

Welcome to the group. Nerves are very common. I remember when I was banded all I could do was cry the 2 days leading up to it. YOu will be fine.
-
Hi there. Congratulations on being banded. Hope your preop diet goes well.
-
I'm a little confused. I thought we weren't suppose to have carbonation because it can irritate the stomach. Can it stretch the band? I don't drink a lot but I would say I like a soda a few days a week. Please advise.
-
I asked Dr. C that question and she responded there is no evidence to support that it actually stretches the pouch. You need to just be careful because it can aggrevate the pouch and you may PB or have a painful burp.

I don't tolerate eggs and chicken very well. Potato skins also get stuck. I do well with meat, pasta. Bread is also difficult. Go have a 6" Subway sandwich for me please. I miss them so much!

Initial consultation rescheduled

Sorry this happened to you. I know how anxious you must feel. I felt the same way. Nothing was fast enough for me. Take it one day at a time and get back in there as soon as you can. You will still feel excited even if its a week away. Good luck. -
2morrow is the BIG day
juliegeraci replied to Marissa424's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Marissa, I've been watching your progress on lapband talk. I'm glad it is finally here for you. Just take it easy the first few days and you will be fine. I didn't have any of the gas people talk about. My recovery was fairly easy. The only thing that hurt a little was a little sorness at the port site where the incisions are. Good luck to you. Let us know how you are doing okay. -
I think I had 1 or 2 days of aftercare by a family member. Mostly just helping me out of bed and feeding me soup. I would stock up on liquids, broth, jello, popsicles, soups and gasx strips. You should be fine.

Watch Video then answer True or False

Very interesting. I would beg to differ with her though. I am NEVER, I mean NEVER, hungry. She didn't have enough of a fill early enough. That is my opinion. The band is definitely a slower process. I've only lost 37 lbs in 8 months. I am considered a slow loser. Good luck to you. I love my band. -
Hi Tuesday35. I am at the point where the work has definitely begun. The first 35 lbs or so were a breeze. I am finding that I can gain weight now when I eat more than I should or drink alcohol. Best of luck to you with your journey.

Question's About My 1st Fill
juliegeraci replied to Ryanband07's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A fill does not hurt. If your surgeon uses a numbing agent for the needle that does sting a little bit. I have heard other bandsters say that even the needles alone without a numbing agent doesn't hurt. If you can get it I would recommend that you use the numbing agent. Especially if they have to prick you more than once at the port. The needle is quite large. Good luck. -
Welcome to lapband forum. I didn't have my band placed over a bypass but I have heard of that being done with good results. You are very brave to be able to admit you have had difficultly losing after 6 months time with the bypass. I know from what I see there are quite a few people who do gain weight back after bypass. I don't know what the stats are, do you with banding? Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with your journey.

Banded Feb 9th, my journey
juliegeraci replied to Platinum's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to lapbandtalk forum. Congrats on your surgery. You will love being banded. Good luck. -
I'm feeling a little down today. I've only lost 37 lbs since being banded. I just can't seem to get my act together.
-
I've never heard of that catheter before. It sounds like it can really help with the pain. Good luck to you in your recovery.

I'm struggling with motivation big time right now. I was down 40 lbs and since I've gained back about 3 lbs. I can't seem to get remotivated. My goal right now is to get under 240. That is about 3 lbs from here. I go in for a fill on Thursday.

surgery 3 months ago. problems just last night
juliegeraci replied to buzzp's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Call you doctor. In the meantime, I would go back in liquids for a couple days to calm things down. -
Don't feel so down. What you are experiencing is normal given you don't have restriction. Go into the doctor get a fill and go back for another and another if you need one. I would simply tell your doctor you haven't had any restriction. You can't lose weight if you are always hungry and don't have restriction. Good luck to you. Keep the lapband faith. I can get better.

Let me tell you what happend to me. I was down to 237 per my scale. Happy as a clam. I then weighed in again one morning and I was up to 245. Needless to say I marched my ass right into the doctors office to weigh. My home scale was off! I had gained 5 lbs. I have been struggling ever since to take that weight off. I would try and weigh at the doctor's office if you can. Scales are the devil!

4th week and can eat everything in sight
juliegeraci replied to Slate2633's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Stacy, I would call the surgeon and find out how long you need to wait for a fill. What you are describing is normal without restriction. I would definitley get in right away for a fill or 2. Good luck. -
Hi Shelley, it took me 6-8 weeks to finally get through all of the approvals. The insurance was the most time.

How will I do it????? :(
juliegeraci replied to waitingtiljan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you have protein shakes? If so I would definitley get on them. Some have as much as 25 grams and that will help you with your energy levels. Good luck. -
I like the fact that the surgery wasn't invasive. I knew going into it the weight loss was a lot slower too. I'm okay if it takes me 2 years to get to my goal.
