I hear really good things about Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Kuri. More on Ortiz though. Good luck with your journey.

    Negative views

Katie, this decision is yours and yours alone. There are a lot of bandsters that don't have success but its up to them to get the medical help to make it work. Just work with your doctor, follow the diet and make sure you gets your fills to have optimal restriction. You will succeed if you do these things. Good luck.

    Any grazers out there?

I eat a protein shake in the a.m. and graze all day. I can't eat big meals so I prefer to have yogurts, almonds, tuna fish and protein shakes throughout the day. I am losing using that diet.
  7. Hi Cindi, welcome to lapbandtalk forum. It sounds like you are doing wonderful. Keep up the good work.

Cathr8, my thoughts go out to you. Don't worry too much about the house sale for 1. That will take care of itself in due time. Try and concentrate on your health and well being first. Break it down in buckets. Is your daughter getting help for her bipolar? I'm bipolar and am doing fantastic on meds. Good luck to you. M&Ms are not your friend. You can do this.

    Rolling again!

Lauren, I've been following your story. I like your enthusiasm. You will be a great bandster! Good luck with all of your doctors, apps, appts, etc. I'm doing well. I'm down 45 lbs since being banded. The easiest 45 lbs I have ever lost! good luck.

I feel like a big baby.

Sherilynn, you are still healing. It can take up to 6 weeks that is why they don't give you a fill until then. Just take it easy and make sure you are getting enough liquids and prtoeins. You will probably wake up one morning and bammm..you will feel wonderful. Good luck.

    2 days out

Sip throughout the day you and will be fine. As long as you are getting in some protein and liquids throughout the day.

Oh Great, Another New Guy. :D

wow, you're a super tall one! Congrats on being banded. You will love your band. It's been a wonderful experience for me. I've never lost 45 lbs so easy in all of my life! Good job.
  14. Hi Tina, its natural to be a bit nervous. Congrats on getting your lapband. I'm down 45 lbs since June. I am actually considered a slow loser. I would say the best advice is to get to optimal fill level as soon as you feel hungry. It may take you several fills to reach that level. I have had 5. I have a 10cc band which holds 4.2 and I'm at 3.0. I eat like a bird now and I'm super happy. Good luck.

Barbara12375, the only thing that save me during the day when I get the muchies is 100 calorie popcorn. I like the fact that I can fit it into my diet and it fills me up. The doctor said it slides down like sand that is why I can eat the entire bag. If you like popcorn it is worth a shot. Good luck.
  17. I was up 5 lbs and feeling really low. I was going to go in for a fill but then I decided that was boggus for me and an excuse. I drink too much alcohol during the week. I was up to 245. Since omitting alcohol and eating only when I am hungry and I back down to 237.5. I feel a lot better knowing there is hope for me. For those of you who are not losing keep the faith. The band does work. Just adjust what you are doing. Good luck.

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

Hopeworks, the way you tell if you need another fill is a)if you are hungry b)are ravenous c)aren't losing. If you are losing at 1.5 cups of food I would stay there. If it seems a bit much I would get a fill.

SuperDaddy: Back to the Starting Line(?)

Jon, thank you for all your prayers. I am doing much better. I am down to 237.5 from 245. I am following my hunger patterns nicely and keeping filled during the day. I also omitted alcohol which is a bad one for me. I'm back on track! Keep up the prayers. They work.

I would add drinking alcohol as one of the definite no=nos.

You'll be fine. Just get back to the basics as soon as possible. I didn't have a preop diet so I was one of the lucky ones.

    I'm a newbie from MO

Hi Gene, welcome to lapband talk forum. I hear you when you say elephant. My top weight was 320 and I'm down to 239.5 today. I have lost just a little bit over 40 lbs since being banded. I lost a ton more prior to surgery. I look a lot better in a bathing suit already but one of my goals is to really look good in one. Congrats to you. Keep the faith. Lapband is wonderful.
  24. Welcome to bandland. Congratulations on taking the first step to better health.

    give me real food help!!

Move to creamy soups. They were a life saver for me. Are you on mushies yet? If so you can have the creamy ones with vegies in them like cream or broccoli. If not, eat them anyways and just avoid what is in them like the chicken . They will really fill you up. Good luck.
