I consider eating a protein shake for breakfast perfect. I can only eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food and it seems perfect for me. I'm at 3ccs in a 10cc band (which holds 4.2) and I'm still losing. I would say I've hit my sweet spot.

My worst fear has come true.....my band has slipped
juliegeraci replied to KatzGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If health is permitted and you can have it replaced that is exactly what I would do. Especially if your doctor says it is okay. Good luck to you. -
Yes, to me it is the sign of being full. I think it has something to do with the diaphram.
-
Pamela, this is an exciting time for you. Congratulations.

new, young, and kinda scared
juliegeraci replied to purplegirl1818's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Take your mom for sure. The youngest bandster my doctor did was around your age. I think it is great you are looking into it. I will really help that you are so active. That is a great plus. -
I was a snacker before. Now I am not hungry so I don't find myself wanting to eat. You will probably change after surgery, especially your hunger patterns. I would move to hot tea or water if you feel like you just want to eat. Good luck.

Clear Liquid diet choices???
juliegeraci replied to skinnyrebal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are really hungry I would move to creamy soups. They are really filling and liquid. Good luck. -
I ate a lot of creamy soups. I just didn't eat the chicken if there was chicken in them. Cream of broccoli, celery went down fine. Anything that can fit through a straw worked for me. My surgeon said that was okay. Good luck.

No big deal. Its easy to give up. Good luck.

juliegeraci replied to a1m1bishop's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know it is a lot to go through to get the procedure but it is well worth it. Good luck. -
Good for you. Just take it easy and I'll feel great.

Good job. You are taking it slow and moving. That is great. Congrats on your 10 lbs so far!

Over-researched - thinking about cancelling surgery
juliegeraci replied to MCOBandita's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been banded 9 months and haven't had any problems. My surgery was easy and pain free. Everyone is different. If you really want this bad enough just know that things can happen but most likely will not. Good luck. -
Lauren, keep up the good work. YOu'll get approved soon and everything will be smooth sailing from here on out.

11 Days; and I TURNED the corner!
juliegeraci replied to sherilynn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Glad you are feeling better. I've been following your story. I guess some of us take a little bit longer to feel good. Hope you continue on the road to recovery. Good job sticking with it. -
That is fantastic. You are an inspiration. I'm out 9 months and I feel good too. congrats.

Its normal to be nervous. I cried a couple day leading up to my surgery. That is completely normal. You will be fine.

Are you losing weight differently?
juliegeraci replied to christy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, the scale goes up and down like a yo yo. I can definitely feel the difference in my sizes though. -
Were you a "grazer"?
juliegeraci replied to msmargaretanne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use grazing to my advantage. I eat small portions throughout the day and it works for me. If you use it that way and try to omit the bad foods you should be okay. -
I would have a protein shake in the a.m. if I were you. That will help you get through those weaker moments when you don't have restriction. Good luck.

Long term weight loss results questions?
juliegeraci replied to mikedny334's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with her. I have seen a lot of postings about bypass patients gaining weight back and stretching their new stomachs. I like the fact that I control the fill levels so that will not happen. I love my band and I wouldn't have it any other way. With that being said, you have to realize that the weight loss is slower with the band. I have the feeling that it can be kept off for a longer period of time though. -
Is it normal to be burbing?
juliegeraci replied to colleensunshine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Burping is normal. Its your body telling you that you are full now. Its one of the signs. Good luck. -

Newbie here...Is it really worth it?
juliegeraci replied to Destiny's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm considered a slow loser at 45 lbs in 8 months but I would do it again in a heartbeat. I can honestly say this has been the easiest 45 lbs I have ever lost, without hunger. He will be fine. He will do well if he follows the surgeon's dietary restriction and gets restriction by fills. Good luck.
