Congrats on the NSV. Sometimes if we treat ourselves to a new outfit it really helps us to realize just how far we have come. Keep up the great work.

Congrats to you. Keep it going.

Lauren, I am thinking of you. I hope things turn in your favor soon.

My weight is up and down like a yo-yo. Down 1, up 2, down 2, up 3. Is there anyone else out there that goes through the same thing?

I don't remember exactly but I believe I had lost about 10-15 lbs. I had also gained back 7 of those lbs before my first fill. Fills really make the difference. Good luck.

I finally had the cinnamon non fat sugar free dolce no whip cream latte. Whooooo long words. It was fabulous.

My doctor uses a numbing agent. He lays you down on a table and feels for the port area. Once he finds that he injects you with the numbing agent. He waits a minute or 2 to make sure you are numb then he inserts the bigger needle into the port with saline. After that he leaves the needle in the port and sits you up to drink water. He wants to make sure you aren't too tight. Once that is done depending on whether or not he has to remove any saline he sits you back up and removes the needles. The only thing that hurts is a little bit of stinging for the numbing agent needle. Other than that, it is pain free. Good luck.

It really depends on whether or not you want to lose faster. If you are losing at a good clip and don't feel deprived I would stay there. If you feel like you are eating too much then I would go in for a fill. I eat around 1k calories a day so your calorie intake will definitely drop with a fill. Good luck.

How Long After Surgery (1st Fill) ?
juliegeraci replied to thatgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine recommends 6 weeks post op. That is when I got my first fill. Good luck. -
My doctor said I could eat anything that passed through a straw. Creamy soup really helped me feel satisfied. I just avoided the chicken if there was chicken in it. Good luck.

I eat almonds, yogurt, 100 calorie popcorn

Hi Paladin, I have an update on my brother. . They ended up not keeping him the 30 days. He went through detox and they let him go. Don't ask me why. He is now attending AA meetings. Truthfully, I would be shocked if he stayed sober. But maybe he will. Its been discouraging to say the least.

Tightness in AM only?
juliegeraci replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is very very common. I am tight in the a.m. and that is why I use a protein shake to get some protein in first thing in the a.m. It works out well. -
Make sure you get a numbing agent first. That will make it not hurt for sure. The needle is bigger than usual buck doesn't hurt.

I can tolerate wheat bread but not much of it. On occassion I mix up a little tun with may and put it on 1/2 a sandwich. It take me a lot of time to eat the entire thing. It is about 1/4 sandwich serving at a time. I can eat all rice no problem. I can also eat pasta no problem. Just not too much of it.

Bandster with first time problem
juliegeraci replied to beachgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Once you have first bite syndrome it typically stays with you. My best advice is since you are going to have it no matter what I would go in for a fill. You shouldn't be hungry as often and you should be only able to eat 1/2c of so. Good luck. -
what do I turn to now? Starting to feel low!
juliegeraci replied to tinker0614's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are normal. I mourned the loss of my friend "food" right after the surgery. The good news is that you can still eat all your favorite foods just smaller portions. Good luck.. -
scared to get banded now
juliegeraci replied to aluckygem's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hear what you are saying. I stay away from mainstream diets now. I eat when I'm hungry and stop when I am full. YOu will be fine. -
Don't know where to begin.
juliegeraci replied to davethesailor's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Typically clear liquids and mushies discussion is post op information. YOu have to be on a select diet the first month or so after surgery moving to solid foods a bit later. Some doctors also have preop diets. Mine didn't though. Good luck. -
Hi Tgagliardi, I am from Gilroy, CA. I hope your consult goes well. Congrats.

11 pizzas, crazy bread, 30 cookies
juliegeraci replied to Exude's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jason, creamy soups really helped me through the slump. You should try them. Just avoid any chicken that might be in them. Eat around it. -
Don't worry. The same thing happened to me. I took off the 7 lbs when I get a fill. You will be okay.
