juliegeraci replied to workofart's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Jessica, you are doing great. Keep up the good work. -
Deb, my poswt op has been a breeze. I will say that the weight loss has been slow for me but there are a ton of other people who have lost a lot more than me. I'm down about 45 lbs since last June. Good luck.

Hi Tracey, welcome to lapband talk forum. You will find some great folks here. I have been banded 9 months and I'm down around 45 lbs. Its been slow for me to say the least but at least I haven't gained! Keep up the great work.
-
Sherilynn, you have now officially entered bandland. Good for you!
-
Good for you. Keep up the great work.

I would make an appointment to go back to the other surgeon and let him know your experience. While weight loss is slow for some of us, I would take 45 lbs loss in 9 months more than a gain any day. And while you can have chocolate and sweets I think you will find your taste buds change after surgery. Good luck.

Yes, it is very common. Just try and eat as much as you can. Make sure you get in a lot of fluids.

I need your support... Please say a prayer for me :)

Smoking and Lap Banding
juliegeraci replied to Daisalana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't stop smoking before surgery and I healed up very quickly. -
If you can eat a great deal of food without difficulty plus you are also hungry you should get a fill for sure. Good luck.
-
Mine were about 2-3 weeks apart initially. I haven't had a fill in about a month.
-
a. no hunger b. good restriction c. steady weight loss d. no PBing.

Lauren, sorry your mom isn't supportive. Just do this for yourself and you'll be fine.

Banded, Confused, and Bummed Out...Should I Remove It?
juliegeraci replied to bbw1924's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
First of all, you definitely need a fill. You shouldn't be able to eat more than a cup of food at a time. In my case, its more like 1/2 cup of food at a time. Restriction is really important. -
What do you love most about your band?
juliegeraci replied to lianna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love having restriction and never feeling hungry. -
Right now you are healing so I wouldn't worry too much about losing weight. The weight loss will come especially after you get restriction (fills). Good luck.

No, you should be fine. As long as you don't feel like PBing you are doing okay. -
LapBand requirements .. ?
juliegeraci replied to kiwi201000's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What is the BMI requirement to have the lapband surgery? It depends on your insurance company. YOu need to check with them. Some only take patients with a BMI of 40+. I was 40 I believer. I read that it can be between 35-40 if you have health problems relating to your obesity, I have had terrible knee problems and am wondering if that will even be considered? Yes, probably. Will my families history affect whether or not I can get the surgery? Probably not. Also, do having the fills hurt at all? No, not at all. And the scar that is the port, does it take longer to heal than the other scars? Yes, because that is where the incision is made. And can you feel the port under your skin? I can feel my port just under the skin. You don't feel is pertrude or anything like that. YOu really need to search for it to find it. -
