My goal is 4 more lbs to hit the 50 lbs mark. I can do this within the next few weeks. Yippeee!

Yes, it does take time. It may take you several fills. It took me 5 fills to feel optimal level. You will be fine. Just be patient.

Allow myself to re-introduce myself

I'm glad they found this pre surgery. Good for you. Keep us posted on your progress. -

Good for you. You will love being banded. -
The only thing I can say is maybe you could find a local Surgeon or support group where they can hear real live stories of the successes and the trials of the lapband. I think they would change their minds. Good luck.

Judi, welcome to lapband talk forum. You are in the right place. Congrats on making the decision to be banded.

When should you get your first fill?
juliegeraci replied to NONNI's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, you are in range. Your doctor filled you a little sooner than mine would. He makes you wait 6 weeks. You are doing great though. Sounds like the perfect time to get a fill if a. you are consuming too much b. you are hungry or c. you aren't losing. In your case, the hunger warranted a fill. Good luck. -
I had the same reaction. I cried for a long time before my surgery saying to myself "how did I get here". Take it easy and enjoy the ride. You will love being banded.

Good for you! I can't wait to hit the 100 lbs mark from my high weight. Good job!

Man on the brink of surgery
juliegeraci replied to bigsexy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bigsexy, you can expect 1-2 lbs a week. Some people do lose a little faster. In my case I am at 1.5 lbs per week. Good luck. -
You handled that nicely. I wouldn't have been much more rude back to her. Good job.

If you want the true wrinkle remover go with Botox. Retin A takes way too long and doesn't show the same affect.
-
Very interesting. Thanks for the share.

Initial consulation...complete! Yeah!
juliegeraci replied to NurseLaureli's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a class on nutrition and exercise together. My class was individual $300 nutritional consult. I met for the psych eval and basically he went over whether or not I had depressions, what diets I followed, do I see spiders, those types of questions. They just want to make sure you are of sound mind. Good luck to you! -
Post op relationship with food
juliegeraci replied to Lily's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Lily, I typically start my day with a meal replacement and milk. It is about 200 calories with 25 grams of protein. I then move onto foods like tuna salad 1/3 to 1/2 cup. I can't eat more than 1/2c to 1 c of food at a time. I snack on yogurts and almonds (just a small hand full). I then proceed to eat a little protein and maybe some vegies at dinner. I can eat salad better than most foods but eating stuff like raw broccoli for example really fills me up fast. Hope this information is helpful. -
How long was your hospital stay?
juliegeraci replied to ATRAVOLTA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was an overnight stay but now they do them outpatient. -
Hi Michelle, welcome to lapband. Isn't it great. Just take care of yourself the next 6 weeks. You will do fantastic.
-
Bubblebut, once again you are making sense. People think I'm crazy when I tell them I can survive on a protein shake a.m., tuna salad lunch, almonds or yogurt for a snack, protein and vegie for dinner. I am stuffed and not hungry all day. I can lose 3-5 lbs a week this way.

Man on the brink of surgery
juliegeraci replied to bigsexy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you feel. I have to be truthful with you though about the exercise. I haven't done any since I was banded and I'm a slow loser losing 45 lbs since June. They want you to exercise to speed things up but if you don't you will still have some good results. Hang in there. -
Being banded IS the easy way out!
juliegeraci replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, I agree. It hasn't been easy for me to lose 45 lbs since June. Its a daily struggle to make sure I use my band in my favor. -
Lauren, I bet he did. Good for you sticking up to yourself. Good luck with your approval.

I had to sip it. I can PB if I drink too fast.

How much weight do you have to lose to change a size?
juliegeraci replied to annieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My next size is an 18 and I think it is going to take me 30 additional lbs. For some reason I feel like I will be a size 18 at 200 lbs.
