2 weeks after surgery and hungry
juliegeraci replied to tnix's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it is normal to be hungry. You will get a lot of help after your first fill. Good luck. -
Newly Banded and very emotional
juliegeraci replied to bsoutherngirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon instructed me to eat anything that moved through a straw. That included creamy soups. They saved my life. YOu just can't eat the meat or other items you may find in them. Cream of broccoli goes down great and will not hurt your band. Good luck. -
Congrats on being banded. You will love it.

You are starting exactly where I was. I am 5'8" and was banded at 282. YOu will do great. Good luck. -
Omg...i Gotta Stop Reading
juliegeraci replied to JULLEE71's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Its natural to be scared. I cried before my surgery. YOu will do fine. Just don't read too much into the negative threads. -
New and looking for advice!
juliegeraci replied to Rhonda's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Try and keep you calories to 1k a day, you should lose at a good pace this way. Try to also keep your meal intake to no more than a cup. If you do this you are sure to lose. BTW, the hunger will go away after your fill. Good luck. -
I'm a newbie with questions :)

I start my day with a protein shake, that really helps get the protein in, 25 grams. Good luck.

did the first fill work for you did you loose or gain ?
juliegeraci replied to CLAUDIAGDLMEX's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I lost a little bit but I had to go back in within 2-4 weeks for another fill. It took me 5 fills to hit my sweet spot. Good luck. -
You are probably irritated right now. If you feel like you can't eat move to liquids for a day then mushy stage for a day. You should be fine. I would be shocked if you slipped your band. You probably just go irritation with pouch packing. Good luck.

Sherri, let us know how you do with your surgery. YOu will love being banded.

Hi Neveragain, I was banded last June and I remember being totally devastated and worried that I was giving up food. YOu mentioned scared about being hungry. You may find before your fill you do have hunger, however it is very common to not be hungry at all. Because they place the band high on the stomach there are sensors at the top of the stomach that send the full message. Because you will have a smaller stomach you will find that meals last you longer. I can eat breakfast sometimes as late as noon because I am not hungry. Best of luck to you. I love being banded.

Congrats on being banded. YOu will love it.

You are suppose to eat 60 grams of protein a day. I would go for a mild unfill. HOpefully that will help.
-
Thanks for the inspiration. Sometimes I forget this is going to take me 1.5-2 years. I want it now!
-
I have a 10cc band which holds 4.2cc. I now have 3ccs in it. It took me 5 fills to get to that level of sweet spot. I am never hungry and I'm losing weight now. Good luck.

BigThunder, if yoiu feel you are in the 300 range you probably are. You probably wouldn't be mobile if you were in the 500 range so relax. Just do the 3 month preop and get the surgery. You will have a whole new life. Good luck.

Mollysmom, I love the fact that the "jock" is now 120 lbs overweight. Serves the bastard right! -
Dr. McKeen or Dr. Barry Sanchez?
juliegeraci replied to christellini's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I love Dr. McKeen. He is wonderful. I had my surgery in San Jose, CA. I would highly recommend him. He has great bedside manner and he is available 24x7 on his cell phone. No may surgeons give you that. -
I have the same issue. That is what plastic surgery is for :-}
-
Lauren, take it in steps. YOu can do it.
-
You are doing great, Keep up the good work.

To Weigh or Not to Weigh
juliegeraci replied to benbax's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh myself every morning and go into the surgeon to be weighed every 2 months. That way I make sure my scale is accurate. -
Congrats. You will loe being banded.

Can I make this work???
juliegeraci replied to LstNTranslation's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I thlnk it will be important to keep in touch with your surgeon to make sure you have the correct fill level prior to travel. The band will do its job with the restriction. Just make sure you eat your protein first, vegies 2nd and so on.
