  1. Yes, it is normal to be hungry. You will get a lot of help after your first fill. Good luck.

    Newly Banded and very emotional

My surgeon instructed me to eat anything that moved through a straw. That included creamy soups. They saved my life. YOu just can't eat the meat or other items you may find in them. Cream of broccoli goes down great and will not hurt your band. Good luck.

    New and looking for advice!

Try and keep you calories to 1k a day, you should lose at a good pace this way. Try to also keep your meal intake to no more than a cup. If you do this you are sure to lose. BTW, the hunger will go away after your fill. Good luck.

    I want to eat

I start my day with a protein shake, that really helps get the protein in, 25 grams. Good luck.
  8. I lost a little bit but I had to go back in within 2-4 weeks for another fill. It took me 5 fills to hit my sweet spot. Good luck.

    eat too much.

You are probably irritated right now. If you feel like you can't eat move to liquids for a day then mushy stage for a day. You should be fine. I would be shocked if you slipped your band. You probably just go irritation with pouch packing. Good luck.

    Pre-op jitters...

Hi Neveragain, I was banded last June and I remember being totally devastated and worried that I was giving up food. YOu mentioned scared about being hungry. You may find before your fill you do have hunger, however it is very common to not be hungry at all. Because they place the band high on the stomach there are sensors at the top of the stomach that send the full message. Because you will have a smaller stomach you will find that meals last you longer. I can eat breakfast sometimes as late as noon because I am not hungry. Best of luck to you. I love being banded.

    help

You are suppose to eat 60 grams of protein a day. I would go for a mild unfill. HOpefully that will help.

How many fills did it take?

I have a 10cc band which holds 4.2cc. I now have 3ccs in it. It took me 5 fills to get to that level of sweet spot. I am never hungry and I'm losing weight now. Good luck.

I just went to the doctors

BigThunder, if yoiu feel you are in the 300 range you probably are. You probably wouldn't be mobile if you were in the 500 range so relax. Just do the 3 month preop and get the surgery. You will have a whole new life. Good luck.
  17. Mollysmom, I love the fact that the "jock" is now 120 lbs overweight. Serves the bastard right!

Dr. McKeen or Dr. Barry Sanchez?

I love Dr. McKeen. He is wonderful. I had my surgery in San Jose, CA. I would highly recommend him. He has great bedside manner and he is available 24x7 on his cell phone. No may surgeons give you that.

To Weigh or Not to Weigh

I weigh myself every morning and go into the surgeon to be weighed every 2 months. That way I make sure my scale is accurate.

    Can I make this work???

I thlnk it will be important to keep in touch with your surgeon to make sure you have the correct fill level prior to travel. The band will do its job with the restriction. Just make sure you eat your protein first, vegies 2nd and so on.
