Second Guessing - Surgery next week!!
juliegeraci replied to Jeter2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Gail, I am 2 years post op and have lost 105 lbs. I love my band. The surgery was pretty easy. The main objective with the band is to get good restriction as soon as you can. Good luck. -
My doctor makes you wait 2 weeks. You do need another fill it sounds like. good luck.

Am I doing something wrong?
juliegeraci replied to MrsCooper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do feel food get stuck when I eat too fast or don't chew enough, but if I eat small bites and chew a lot I don't fill up any easier than I did pre-surgery. If this is the case and you can eat larger portions after your first few bites you need a fill. This will help with the weight loss. -

No Info For After Surgery!!!
juliegeraci replied to Bigjedda's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. Make sure you get a prescription for pain medication and have some liquid Tylenol in the house. You also may want to get a liquid anti naseau medication from the doctor. Stock up on liquids, popsicles, jello, broth and water. You most likely will be on liquids for 2 weeks followed by full liquids, mushies and solids. It takes at least 4 weeks to move to a solid diet. The surgery itself was easy for me. I was only sore at the port site. I did have some naseau but the medication helped. Stick to the post op diet. It is very important not to move to solid foods too early. Good luck to you! -
I had minimal pain although he did prescribe me a liquid medication for it. I think I moved to liquid Tylenol just a couple days after that. That should help.

I have no support and no-one to talk to: Surgery 18th June
juliegeraci replied to kizzie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Louise, I have been banded 2 years last week. I've lost 105 lbs total including my preop diet. I am 15 lbs from goal. I have had some difficulties with fills. It seems like I have had approximately 20 in the last 2 years. Fills, unfills. Starving, too tight. That is the one thing about the band. It can be fickle. I do eat around the band by drinking with meals. That is the one thing I do. I do not exercise like I should either. I had a tummy tuck on 4/21 and he removed 6.5 lbs of fat from my abdomen. I started in a size 24 and now am in a size 16. I never set out to get skinny. I just wanted to be in a nice size. I am 5'8" tall. My doctor said I am a success since I have lost 70% of my excess weight. Anything over 50% is considered a success. I am married with 2 children, 15 and 6. They keep me very busy with sports and school. When exactly is your surgery? I think there are plenty of doctors in Florida. -
You are doing great. 1-2 lbs a week is the norm.

I guess I should vote for him then. At least he says it.

I want to know how Obama will pay for all his programs.

Kizzie, I have been banded 2 years and would love to chat with you on your journey. Congrats on your decision! -
Hi Shome, I am 5'8" tall and started at 320. I am at 215 right now. Weight Watchers has my goal at 165. My doctor and I originally said 185 but my goal was size 16 which I am in now. I would like to lose another 15 lbs. I had a tummy tuck at 220.

I am voting for McCain because I am afraid that Obama will raise taxes.

Lap Band Question.. Please help!
juliegeraci replied to Megbenz04's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Megan, you are right on track with your weight loss, good job! As far as restriction goes the band can be really fickle. Sounds like you are at the right fill level if you PB sometimes. That is what happens. Sometimes I can eat 1 taco and other times just a couple bites. -
