I agree with Natliec. Your band isn't working until you start getting fills. You are in the healing stage right now.

How long without losing until you get a fill?
juliegeraci replied to derbygirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine does fills every 2 weeks until you get to optimal fill level. Good luck. -
Not hungry yet - 8 days & counting
juliegeraci replied to Mommy202's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been banded almost 9 months and I still don't get that hungry. Today I am a bit hungry though. I had a protein shake for breakfast, a non fat triple latte from Starbucks, a cheese stick and a yogurt. I'm going to go reach for some almonds in a few minutes. I try and stick to 1k calories a day or there abouts. If you start feeling more hunger you can always get a fill. That really can help. Good luck. -
Nasty Extra Skin????
juliegeraci replied to Angelhope82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost 76 lbs including my preop diet and I'll definitely need a tummy tuck and some lipo when I am done. I am looking forward to it. -
Big day tomorrow.....
juliegeraci replied to Big Trouble's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was an overnight stay. The surgery was a breeze. I was back to work within 6 days. No problems to report, not even gas. -
I am 5'8" and 185lbs (40-45 lbs overweight)
juliegeraci replied to kristendesig9er's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Since you don't have too much to lose you may find yourself a slow loser at 1 lb a week. That is the average weight loss so keep that in mind. I don't know how many calories you take in during a day so it is hard to figure out where you need to be. You may have to only eat 800-1k calories for optimal weight loss. Good luck. -
Loss of a good friend by her choice

I really hope so. I wrote her an email on Sunday telling her how sorry I was for everything. I hope she can forgive me. -
Loss of a good friend by her choice
juliegeraci replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nope, my name is definitey Julie. Funny how our stories are so familiar. Thanks for cheering me up today. I've been crying alot. I am devastated. I just hope she remember that while I may have not been "attentive" the last couple years....I was for 23 of them. Thanks. -
I have the exact symptoms that you do. I can't eat anything until noon time. At noon I have a protein shake with 25 grams of protein. I then proceed to eat 1-2 oz of tuna fish mixed with mayo and relish, no bread. I often snack on almonds, yogurt or cheese sticks. I eat just a tiny bit of protein at dinner. I consume 800-1k calories a day on this diet. I try and sneak in a non fat latte during the day too. I love the caffeine. Also, the golf ball feeling you are getting sounds exactly like what I get. My surgeon said it was more like first bite syndrome. It usually passes then you can proceed to eat. You just have to take it slow.

3 Years Out...Disillusioned, frightened and ashamed-Any takers?
juliegeraci replied to ABP's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
ABP, you are very courageous to tell us exactly what has been going on with you. The beauty of the band is we can always get back on track. Put the past behind you. We always make mistakes, I know I have. Meet with your surgeon and let him know you would like an upper GI and see what he says. It will not hurt. In the meantime, try and eat like a bandster no more than the allottment and you should be okay. You will be on the losing track again now. Oh and BTW, it might be time to get yourself a digital scale. You need to be accountable. Good luck. -
My goal this week is to not drink any alcohol until a family party on Sunday and to lose 2 lbs.
-
Fabuless, you look fantastic! Keep up the good work.

Thanks. I thought I was losing my mind!

Tom, I generally know if I am going to PB within a couple minutes of eating. I would say I PB within 2-3 minutes. Good luck.

Loss of a good friend by her choice
juliegeraci replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Travelgirl, thanks for the different perspective. I've been racking my brain trying to figure this out. She told me it has been going on for a few years. The only thing I can think of is we moved away from each other and we don't see each other very often, often communicating via email threads and such. At any rate, I appreciate your honesty. My only hope and prayer is that she will come to her senses soon. -
Wheetsin, I'm confused. Aren't you already banded?
-
Hi Buckwheat, I love that name BTW. You are doing great. I am glad to see you came through the surgery with a breeze. That is how it was for me. Congrats. Keep up the good work.

Does Anybody Lose Serious Weight?
juliegeraci replied to tinker0614's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm considered a slow loser at 1 lb a week. I have lost almost 50 lbs in 9 months. It can be a long process. It depends on if you follow the band rules, how much you exercise, drink water, etc. etc. Good luck. -
Concerned about proper nourishment pre and post-op!
juliegeraci replied to luv2bingo07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Judy, can you do protein shakes? I'm not sure how much sugar are in them but they are a life saver for me. I eat one a day then a small lunch and dinner. I think the life saver for you will be to eat a ton of small meals a day. Like a cheese stick, some protein, maybe even a protein bar. That way your insulin will stay okay. -
Snickers bar? Tell me why that would be a healthy choice? How much protein is in one of those!?
-
Lauren, good for you. You are always in my thoughts. I know how much you want this. Everything will turn out for you.
-
I'm a smoker and it didn't affect me with the surgery at all. I healed perfectly. Thanks for the tip on Chantix. I go into my doctor next week and I'm going to see if he will help me quit too. Good luck with your surgery. You will love being banded.

Not sure what your doctor will do at your preop appointment but mine went over the procedure again. Good luck. -
The Final Countdown...Finally!!!
juliegeraci replied to Rockn4u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rocko, you sure are handsome. Congrats on getting your band. You will love being banded. Its a whole new life. You will not be hungry and when you are you will eat like a bird. Be prepared for the weight to miraculously melt off. Good luck. -
Helen, you are doing great! If you are worried about your doctor not mentioning going on liquids do liquids for 1 day then mushies then solids. You will be fine. Good luck.
