Greetings from Tennessee

My surgery was a breeze so it is good you don't have any complaints. Now is the time to heal. Good luck. -
We are in the same boat but I am 10 months post op and only down 45 lbs. Do you exercise? Drink plenty of water?

Help!!!!! I have questions
juliegeraci replied to lctexas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Stacey, I would just make sure your house is packed with all the right foods. Plenty of chicken brother, popsicles, crystal light. I would also stop your pureed foods like instant mashed potatoes, creamy soups (those were a life saver for me). I understand how you feel about being nervous. I had a break down prior to my surgery like "what in the heck am I doing". It is natural to be scared. Good luck. -
Newly-banded But These Posts Are Discouraging!
juliegeraci replied to Daffodil's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Daffodil, I am considered a slow loser at 1 lb per week. Its been discouraging but my doctor did tell me you can expect to lose 30-50% of your excess weight the first year. That puts me right on track at 46 lbs with about 40 more to go. I don't exercise and I know that plays a big/huge role in not losing faster. Follow the band rules and you'll do fine. -
Tabitha, get back on the program as soon as you can. YOu can create damage in the pouch if you don't. YOu are in the healing stages right now so it is very important to follow the doctors order. You are okay probably but prolonging eating of solids is not going to be good for you. Just get back on track.......now!

I rarely go to my support group. Its a 45 minutes drive. I would rather come to this forum.

Stages I have went had in my 8 mos as a lapbander
juliegeraci replied to edieparks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm in between stage 1 and 2 being down almost 50 lbs with another 40 or so to go. You have done remarkable. Good job! -
I want to say about 20-30 minutes. That is why it takes sometimes 45 to get a cup down.

I did see the Larry King interview where she admitted to medical intervention and that she couldn't lose that much weight through diet and exercise. I am glad she looks good. She did have plastic surgery as well.

How much weight loss to expect???
juliegeraci replied to gravy21210's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
YOu are incorrect. You will lose 1-2 lbs a week no matter when. The first month obviously you will lose more because of the liquid phase. It is quite common to actually gain weight once you get on solid until you get a fill or 2. Don't set yourself up for disappointment. I would say 10 lbs in the first month would be good, maybe 20 if you're lucky. Good luck. -
You should be fine after a couple days. The hardest part will not to be able to lift him. Is that possible?

Hi Danielle, welcome to lapband talk forum. You will love being banded. It will really help you with eating those large portions you were describing. Good luck.

Best Thing I ever did
juliegeraci replied to Desiree1970's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I love my band. It is wonderful. Congrats on your surgery. -
I don't have a physical job so I only took off a week. I would say that 2 weeks should be better for you. Good luck.
-
You will do great. I think you can lose 60 lbs in a year. Just follow the plan.
-
Berry, how much protein are you getting in. I would up your protein with protein shakes if you can. Your energy will come back but it might be when you move back to solids. Congrats.
-
Welcome to lapbandtalk forum. Congrats on your impending surgery.
-
Bandita, congrats on being banded. I think it is great that you and your husband are both banded. Way to go!
-
I always start my day with a protein shake. They have 25 grams in them. I also ate a chicken soft taco from Taco Bell today. It took me about 45 minutes to eat the entire thing.
-
Yes you can just not much of it. I order pepper chicken and spicy beef. I can only get down 1/2 to 1 cup of food at at time. I do well with fried rice too.
-
Ginger, this is very common with the band. They are very fickle. You just have to follow your body for that day and see what you can get down. There is no other way of telling unfortunately. Good luck.
-
Congrats on getting banded. You will love it.
-
lshontz, you are really swollen right now. Just continue to sip your liquids. You may be swollen for a week or 2. Good luck.
-
Fergie, you will be okay. Just move to liquids until you see the doctor. He can unfill you and the band can move back into position if indeed it is a slip. That is very common to work. Good luck to you. Everything will be fine.
