  1. Karlee, don't cry..you will be okay. I would just make sure you are getting in all your protein. Are you losing sizes? You are doing great. There are people who believe in 2 theories. 1 to reduce calories or 2 to up your calories. You may want to go down to 800 or up to 1200 to test the waters. You should find you aren't as hungry now that you have had a fill. Good luck and keep the faith.

    good lapband book?

I don't remember the name of mine but if you go to Amazon.com and type in lapband or bariatric surgery you will find out. That is where I got mine.

    pain at port

How long have you been banded. It may take you 2-4 weeks to feel less pain. I remember I was very sore but it didn't last too long. Good luck.

    Banded Oct/06

Hi Jason, its hard to get in 60 grams of protein. I think we can actually survive on 40 grams. I use GNCs protein powder with skim milk and it give me a solid 25 grams for breakfast. I try and eat up the rest during the day but truthfully I would be surprised if I hit 40 grams. Good luck.

    Banded Oct/06

Jason, this is what my day consists of. Protein shake for breakfast, tuna salad (no bread)or lettuce just tuna, mayo and relish for lunch, lean protein for dinner. I don't eat any carbs. For a snack I eat cheese sticks or yogurt. This day give me about 800-1k calories. I am losing 1 lb a week.

    anyone know???

Mexico is a great alternative. I would start another thread "surgeons in Mexico" to see what response you get. YOu will save a ton of money and they are very reputable. Good luck.

    Hello everyone

Hi Luvinke, I have been banded 10 months and I'm down 45 lbs. My journey has been slow but worth it. Just make sure you follow the doctors order, especially the liquid stage. It is so that you can heal. You will be able to move onto mushy then solids shortly thereafter. You most likely will have to wait 6 weeks before you can get a fill. You may need more than 1 fill to feel it so don't worry if you don't feel restriction after your first fill. Try not to consume more than 800-1k calories a day and you will really lose. Good luck.

    Are we neagative on Lapbandtalk?

Susannah, I went over to the other board today and I didn't like the activity level so I cam back here. There are pluses and minuses with every surgery and I like hearing about them. I really like this forum because I feel like I can be myself.

    Undecided

jnkntrnk, I have been banded for 10 months. I get much easier once you hit the solid stage. I eat normal, just not as much. An example is a protein shake for breakfast and I just had some tuna fish mixed with mayo and relish. I can probably eat 1/2 cup or so. Its not a lot of food. I have had 5 fills. I'm at 3cc in a 4.2cc (10cc) band. I have complete restriction. I don't get as hungry either. My weight loss is slow at 1 lb a week but I am trying to hit the 50 lb mark by my first anniversary. Hopefully I will do that. Good luck.

I think My Surgeon Just Fired Me...

Carrie, sorry you have been through so much. It sounds like it is overdue for you to find a new surgeon along with your husband. He should be doing much better than he is. Good luck.

    Having a Bad Time

Try and stay busy. Get up, get showered and get dressed every day as soon as you can. Once you hit the computer I know it can be hours before the shower. YOu will increase your energy, no only with yourself but universally to find a job. Good luck to you. Get out and take a walk instead of eating.

    Teeter Totter!!

Ginger, your fill will definitely help. You shouldn't be able to eat more than 1/2 to 1 cup of food.

Angel, you will probably have 6 weeks recovery prior to your first fill. Just take it easy and take care of yourself.

When should I tell my parents?

Dave, good job telling your mom. That should be a relief. Congrats on your surgery tomorrow.

    Feeling Down

Kim, thank you for the kind words. I really needed them today. I am feeling really low about my friend today so its nice to get support. I guess crying and feeling bad is part of the mourning process. I can't wait for my fill. I want to be down 50 lbs within a month. Thanks again.

    Moral Dilemma

That is way too fast, OMG. I can't believe it. I am glad your husband said something to the man.

    You'd never know I have a band...

Sherilynn, you are doing great. I know it is difficult when you don't have restriction. Just try and stay on the one cup of food. How long after the first fill can you have a 2nd. It may take you a while to feel restriction.

MV, great work. Keep it up!

    Question

Yes because you will be on solids. If you are really hungry try some creamy soup. If it fits through a straw you can have it. Just avoid the meat if there is meet in it. I ate cream of broccoli and celery and had no trouble with either one. Good luck.

    Jealousy and weight loss!

I agree with you. WLS is not the easy way out. If it were I wouldn't be stirring in my chair because I am only down 45 lbs in 10 months. Go figure. I just think people are uneducated. Good job that woman did losing 150 lbs. Good for her!
