Hello ? about Mexico GLB
juliegeraci replied to Dedee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for the tip on Dr. Ortiz's book. I ordered it this am. from Amazon.com. -
Angela, I would definitely follow your instinct on this one. If I were you I would get a fill as soon as you can. It will jump start your weight loss again. Good luck.
-
Helen, I learned something yesterday about being hungry. I too thought I needed a fill because I was hungry every 2 hours. I called the surgeon's office and spoke to him. Apparently my diet is too soft. She he told me to eat more lean meats and take out the foods like tuna salad, cheese sticks and yogurt. I am hoping it helps me stay full longer. You may want to monitor your diet. Julie

Anyone's band get tighter as you lose more weight?
juliegeraci replied to housecatgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is strange. Mine loosens. -
Shesha, you are probably just sore from the PB. If you feel sore today move to liquids for a day. You are okay. I wouldn't worry about calling the surgeon. What you experienced is normal if you overextend yourself. Don't worry.

Met woman with same surgical date
juliegeraci replied to mariecarmen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Marie, just goes to show you there is a journey for everyone. Being lapbanded isn't the easy way out. Poor thing, I hope she has enough restriction. Nice of you to reach out to her. -
Yes, if you think about exercising now and you don't want to sit around that is definitely an NSV. Good for you!
-
I love the fact that I have restriction and can only consume 1k calories a day. I love the fact that I am not longer hungry. I love the fact that my relationship with food has changed tremendously. I no longer live to eat, I eat to live. Good luck with your decision. Its the best thing I have ever done.

tuna salad, yogurt, cheese, chili, cottage cheese, soups (no meat) pasta, those types of foods. Go to the "food" section and there will be a post on Mushy stage recipes. Good luck.

No protein drinks?
juliegeraci replied to anonemouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only reason why I drink them is it gets me in 25 grams of protein first thing in the a.m. Otherwise I wouldn't drink them. YOu may find them helpful because of that simple fact. Good luck Lauren. -
Rocko, it depends on your surgeon. He may have you stay overnight or do it outpatient. As far as the pain goes, I stayed on liquid Tylenol and I was fine. Good luck.
-
Welcome to lapbandtalk forum. You will do great with your surgery. Good luck.
-
Melisa, its okay to be worried and scared. That is natural. I had a major meltdown before my surgery and they also had to give me an anti anxiety pill when I got to the hospital. Just let them know how you are feeling the day of surgery and they will take care of you. Good luck.
-
Rebecca, actually warm foods slide down easier with the band. It loosens it up. You will be fine. You will be able to enjoy all the foods with your hubby, just less of them! Congrats on being banded.
-
Victoriana, thank you for the kind words. I like the fact that you have sons too. Yes, he did dabble with alcohol and marijuana. He is only 14 so I am concerned for him. I am trying to get him into the Psychiatrist I see to make sure he isn't depressed. Thanks for the insite.

I have a dilema. I have good restriction at 3.0 in my 10cc band (which holds 4.2). Recently I determined that I am always hungry. I am down 8 lbs since my last fill. I don't know whether or not a fill can help with the hunger or not. Please help!:help:

Julissita, no he said it was okay if I have the protein shake. I just have to be use to the fact that I may be hungry 2 hours later. If that is the case he said to add a solid to breakfast or start right on solids when I get hungry, like some chicken breast. Egg whites are okay too but they are still considered soft.
-
I can definitely eat bread, just not much of it. I spoke to my surgeon earlier and its determined that I eat too soft of a diet. He wants me to move to more solids so that is the course of action I am following for a week.

Do our bodies adapt by 6 months and then stall?
juliegeraci replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Terry, how many calories a day do you consume? Do you need another fill? I had to get another fill to jump start me again after 6 months. Good luck. -
I can eat spicy tuna roll without a problem. I just need to chew it slow and swallow and wait. You should be fine. Give it a try when you move to mushy stage. Good luck.
-
Autumn, thanks for the share. I am really happy for you. Just take a deep breath and enjoy the process. Before you know it you'll be in bandland like me. Congrats!

Approved, Approved, Approved...

Jay, good for you! Congrats on being persistent! -
ladyvase and Kat817, thanks for the posts! I called my surgeon's office to explain to them what I've been eating. I start with a protein shake in the a.m. followed by tuna fish salad then cheese stick, yogurts then beef at night. Everything I was eating with the exception of the beef is soft! Therefore he instructed me to add solids proteins back in. I am a little scared. Isn't that funny. But I am so use to eating a certain way. So that is what I am going to do for a week to see if I can still lose my lb or 2. Thanks again.
-
I spoke to my surgeon today and since I am getting hungry every 2 hours he asked me what I have been eating. I guess I haven't been eating enough solid foods. So tomorrow I am starting on more foods like chicken breasts, fish filets and shrimp. That way I can see if that will keep me full longer.

band size who decides
juliegeraci replied to healthny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jack, if you don't mind me asking what is the difference in those band sizes. I am with a 10cc band and I have lost really slow. Mine holds 4.2 cc and I'm at 3cc right now. It took me 5 fills to feel restriction.
