Newly banded in Maryland!
juliegeraci replied to bjlang68's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi BJ, what you are experiencing is perfectly normal. You shouldn't be as hungry and you definitely do not have restriction until you start getting your fills. Enjoy the honeymoon period. Julie -
Jen, welcome to lapband talk forum. Congrats on your impending surgery. Julie
-
Good for you. I just got rid of some other 22/24s and I'm down to an 18/20 from a 24 leaning towards 26. It sure feels good!

**Showin' some LBT <3**
juliegeraci replied to Trying2SeekThin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Brit, you will be eating like your thin friends soon. About 1/2 to 1 cup of food is all you will be able to handle. Good luck in your journey. -
I would never have my band removed unless there was a slip or something. I love my band.

Hi Christel, I hear you about the distance. The thing I like a out Dr. McKeen is he has great bedside manners. He gives you his cell phone and is available 24x7 if you have any problems. I'm sure you will do great with Dr. Sanchez. It really makes a difference when you hit it off with them. Good luck.
-
Hi Stephanee, if you are really hungry you may want to consider a fill. It works for me every time. Good luck.
-
I'm down in Gilroy, CA and was banded by Dr. McKeen in San Jose. You will do great. Congrats on your eval. Good luck with your insurance.

Lauren, I would schedule your surgery. You can always cancel it. If you can go down to the doctor's office to get your results you may want to do that. Good luck.
-
It sounds like you may need a fill. How is your restriction level?
-
Its not that you can't eat carbs its that you need to get your protein in first 60 grams a day before you eat carbs. Carbs fill you up faster. You need to stick to protein first, veggies second then carbs. Good luck.

If you PB.... How long after you eat
juliegeraci replied to wendyjoy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Wendy, yes 45 minutes is plenty of time. The longest it took me to PB was 5 or 10 minutes. I typically PB right after a meal. -
Having problems getting all required protein
juliegeraci replied to Crishell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crishell, first of all you only need 60 grams of protein a day. 80 grams is too high. I would start my day off with a protein shake. That will give you almost 1/2 of what you need for the day. I use GNCs shake and it has 25 grams. Then if you move to solid protein the rest of the day you should be okay. I think I read that you can survive on 40 grams a day. I do and I haven't lost my hair. -
It sounds like you are ready for another fill. It sounds right. I had 5 fills so far. If you don't have restriction and aren't losing it is definitely time.
-
Hi Pinkybar, good for you! You will love being banded. Congrats.

Good for you! You will love being banded. Congrats.

Stephanee, when I PB it is typically when I have eaten too much or eaten too fast. You can avoid that by slowing down to ensure you don't overeat. Julie

hi, considering lap band
juliegeraci replied to diva1969's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Diva, I have had 5 fills in 10 months. It really depends on how agressive your surgeon is. Mine starts me out really slowly only added 1cc, then .2, etc. I am at 3ccs now. -
What's the worst thing someone said to you?
juliegeraci replied to annieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Going Down, I would point out to him that your body is going to continue to change. If he doesn't have something positive to say don't say it. -
slimwithin, yes please join this thread. It is great to keep us posted. I am an average loser at a 1lb a week. I am almost t my 50 lb mark since June. I would say that is pretty slow as well.

hi, considering lap band
juliegeraci replied to diva1969's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Diva, I see this as a sign. My sign came to me when I was reading a book abot asking for help in the area of your life you don't have control over or could use the help. Good luck in your journey. -
Please have a 6" Subway sandwich for me. Enjoy your last supers while you can.
-
Yes, I forgot to mention that. Protein shakes are a must.

Broth, jello, popsicles. My doctor said anything that fit through a straw. So when I was really hungry I ate creamy soups.
