Missed You Guys Haven't been on in a while.
juliegeraci replied to Alexra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good luck with your pregnancy. How exciting. Julie -
You have the option of not getting a fill at 6 weeks if you are losing steadily. If you feel like you are consuming too much you definitely need a fill. Good luck. Julie

I can't be an all or nothing bandster. That is why I was banded. I ate 1/2 of a slice of pizza last night and was stuffed. If you eat what you want and not go over your daily caloric intake you should be fine. Happy pizza. Julie

Ryan, it is very likely that the fill did nothing. It took me 5 fills to get to my sweet spot. I don't have a 4cc band but from what I have read on the posts most restriction comes between 2 and 3ccs. I would call your doctor and schedule another fill. My doctor makes you wait 2 weeks. As far as your calories go you are eating like a bandster. I'm surprised you aren't losing at least 1 lb a week. I plateaued at 1k calories for 2 weeks. I bumped up the exercise this week to 20 min on my treadmill 3 x plus some ab work and I lost 3 lbs. You can do this! Julie

How many calories ?? Help
juliegeraci replied to charsweb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon recommends keeping the calories between 800-1k a day. You will lose consistently that way. Julie -

Flossie, congrats on getting banded. It will change your life. Julie -
I can't eat lunchmeat either. It has to be solid turkey breast. Julie

I can eat rice without a problem.

Hi Guys, I wanted to share a huge NSV for me today. I spent the day with my 14 year old son at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. We had a wonderful time. I was able to ride on all the rides with him. This has been a long journey for me. I'm down 78 lbs from my high 2 years ago. And while I was just banded last June and I'm down 52 lbs I really would like to lose another 50 this year. Its been really hard on me and I just pray I can continue to grow in this journey. I started to exercise again this week in the hopes of continuing to lose the weight. I know how you all feel when I tell you how much it means to me to no longer use a seat belt extender, walk 2 on a treadmill or not be able to ride an amusement park ride. I can honestly say I am happy to report I can do all 3 now. Julie

396power, that is fantastic news. What are your stats? How much do you want to lose? I'm considered an average loser at 1 lb a week. It really adds up though. I'm happy with my 52 lbs in 10 months. I'll take it. Best of luck. Julie

Teri, I have heard this condition from several patients after being banded. It just didn't happen to me. Sometimes my restriction will show in the chest, but not very often. You are probably just swollen.
-
Anniejo, congrats on getting your lapband. Now is the time to heal. Good luck.

It depends on if your insurance has any preop requirement. I had to go to a nutrionist, psych eval and blood work. It took me 6-8 weeks to get through all of it. Julie

Good luck with your interview and lapband process. It is totally worth it in the end. Julie

Please advise-How do you know if you stretch you pouch?
juliegeraci replied to Nursedeeva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like you definitely need another fill. It took me 5 fills to get to optimal fill level. Don't be shy. Call your doctor and schedule it. Julie -
Had my first fill yesterday afternoon

Crishell, glad you got through your fill okay. Hopefully the 2nd will not be as bad. -
Are you on a very low or non fat diet? Fat contributes to how the brain functions. I went on a fat free diet one time and I remember how much it affected my mind. Julie

Good job on finding your restriction. 3/4 a taco is perfect. Julie

4/13 I hit 230 today. I am now down 52 lbs. 78 from my high of 308.

Jules, sorry this happened to you. I wonder if you were just too tight from the beginning or something? Sounds like the band wasn't placed correctly or something. You lost a ton of weight so fast, OMG. Hope you do well on WW and with Curves. Good luck. Julie

I would call your doctor regarding being tight in the chest. It is probably swelling or something. It also may be a sign of your restriction too. Do you get it without even eating? The sore port is common. I had that. Julie
