Kareyquilts, Mimin, Ghost & BJean The Final Push
juliegeraci replied to kareyquilts's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am around 20 lbs from goal and would like to join your thread. I have been having a devil of a time with restriction. Too little, too much, etc. I have a very fickle band. -
Spursfan, be careful with your unfill. I would do .3 I have been going through the same thing and I'm up 5-7 lbs since the middle of June. 3.2 is too tight., 3.08 is too lose There is a fine line with a sweet spot isn't there!?

Surgery tomorrow (July 2) ~ Unbelievable!
juliegeraci replied to Barbiek's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Barbie congrats on getting banded tomorrow. You will do great. The hardest thing with the band is you have to be patient. Restriction takes a few adjustments so hang in there once you start getting fills. Good luck. -
Froggi, that is fantastic. Way to go. I am in a tight 16. I can zip them so I figure why not wear them. Great NSV

IMHO The hardest part of being banded.
juliegeraci replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The hardest part for me is not getting the right restriction level. I have had probably 20 fills and unfills over the course of the last 2 years. Sometimes I can honestly say it makes me hate my band. I am gaining and too loose, then I am too tight. Go figure. -

Fills and Restriction...what is really taking place?
juliegeraci replied to MSnika3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Annika, don't get discouraged. It takes 3-5 fills to get good restriction. I have battled restriction for 2 years now and still have trouble finding my sweet spot. Good luck. -
I am a smoker who is trying to quit using Chantix for the 2nd time. I was banded 2 years ago as a smoker and smoked up until a few days ago. I have had no problems whatsoever. Ask the surgeon to be sure. I heard 8 weeks is what they make you wait before anastethia.

Getting lapband and tubes tied?
juliegeraci replied to frazzledmomof2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope it works out for you. My insurance covered it with my Gyno all but $10 I believe. It is worth looking into even if you have to have 2 surgeries. Good luck. -
Should I see PC to document skin issues?
juliegeraci replied to Brandy~'s topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My insurance didn't cover PS but if I were you I would go to either a PS if covered to take pics or your regular MD to track. -
not sure if overfilled or just right!!
juliegeraci replied to Kerry3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would only take out .2 or .3. I had a slight unfill with the same issues and he took out too much. I would sip water and see how it goes down after having that much removed. Good luck. -
I talked to someone on lapband talk about the sleeve since she had a revision. 2 things struck me. Going septic and dying and it starts at 1/4 cup and stretches out to 1 cup. Julie

Getting lapband and tubes tied?
juliegeraci replied to frazzledmomof2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my tubes tied about 7 years ago before my lapband. It was the best decision I ever made. Because I was 100 lbs overweight it was a little rough getting them done lapascopically though. I had to have extra incisions. Good luck. -
I am getting discouraged. I was at 3.1 in my 4cc band and was losing pretty well. All of a sudden, it was hard for me to hold down solids and it would take me forever to sip a glass of water. So I went down to 3.0 and then I could eat like a pig and was starving. So now I am at 3.02 (2 drops of saline) and can still eat normal portions. My doctor said that sometimes the stomach lining thickens around the band so you get more restriction. So I am 17-20 lbs from goal with no sweet spot. I have flexuated the same 3-6 lbs for a long time now. Any advice? Should I just live on liquids and mushies until I hit goal?:Angel_anim:

Anyone else have a fickle band?
juliegeraci replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You know you have gotten to your sweet spot when you can get fuller on a smaller amount of food, your hunger doesn't come as fast and you are losing 1-2 lbs a week. For me it has always been hard for me to find. -
Got my Surgery date!!!! what should I do???
juliegeraci replied to blackcherry2002's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Advice on how to proceed with Kaiser?
juliegeraci replied to astone1234's topic in Insurance & Financing
Good luck with Kaiser. You poor girls sure have to jump through hoops to be banded. My closest friend is working to get banded in SF. I am going with her in July to meet with the counselor. she has not lost her 10% yet so I am working on that to help her. -
First fill with Realize band went very well!
juliegeraci replied to MSnika3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good job getting through your fill. I'll be anxious to see how you like your new band. I have an old one and am interested to see how your weight loss and restriction goes. -
Dr. Robert McKeen at Southbay Bariatrics is awesome. He has done thousands of lapbands and does 90% lapbands now. Julie

Hi Lynne, I live in Gilroy CA and have been banded for 2 years now. I am 18 lbs from goal. I love my band. You just need to be patient with it. Good luck and congrats!

Hello from the San Jose, CA
juliegeraci replied to GottaBThin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I live in Gilroy and went to Doctor Robert McKeen . He operates out of Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose. He was out of network for me so I had to do an inclusion with United Healthcare since there was no surgeon 40 miles from my house. -
I live in the Bay Area as well. Who is your surgeon? Dr. Robert McKeen is mine at Southbay Bariatrics. Good luck!
