Marijuana Use After Surgery
juliegeraci replied to KBates's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be fine. I smoke once in a while with no complications. I don't get the munchies anymore either. -
Slow down the weight loss and exercise. You should be fine. I have lost 50+ lbs and will definitely need a tummy tuck. Good luck.

im half way there and getting nervous
juliegeraci replied to andielmt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Andrea, what you are experiencing is normal. I remember right before surgery crying to myself because I felt so overwhelmed. You'll need to slow down the eating but you can do that easily. Small bites the size of an eraser will also help. I am so happy I am banded now. You will love it. Julie -
Banded 1 Year Ago Today July 6 06
juliegeraci replied to Tomander's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Tom, congrats on your bandiversary. You have done awesome. Keep up the good work. -
Yes, I feel really good in a size 18 now but all I see is my droopy stomach. I try not to look too much because I am not at goal to get a TT. You may want to try some therapy and visualization techniques. Good luck.

Congrats Lauren. I am really excited for you.

Would you give them a chance again?
juliegeraci replied to Lee4love1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Personally I would give them a second chance. There are a lot of people who are uncomfortable around obese people. If you are feeling and looking good it shows. I would definitely reconsider, but that's just me. -
Yes, I drink 1 protein shake a day in the a.m. It keeps me full for at least 3 hours. I like them because it gives me 1/2 of my daily protein intake.

Hi Kim, fill amounts depend solely on the doctor. You may want to tell him not to fill you conservatively. The reason why they do gradual is because they want you to get use to the fill level. For me, however, I never really had a good fill so it took me at least 6 months to really start on the program. I had 5 fills before I truly felt restriction. I hope that doesn't happen to you. Good luck.

How soon back to work?
juliegeraci replied to justwant2lose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on a Tuesday and was back to work the following Monday without a problem. I do, however, have a desk job so I don't need to walk around much. -
A small handful of almonds always helps me mid day if I am struggling.
-
I would first make sure you are at the right fill level. Second, I would take all those bad foods out of your house. You can do this. Just get back on track!
-
YOu shouldn't be able to eat more than 1/2 cup of food with good restriction. I'm not sure how big an apple you are comparing that to. Yes, you must eat solid protein first. That will keep you fuller longer and will not cause you to snack between meals. Good luck.
-
xray chic, your band most likely has not slipped. I am shocked that the nurse would tell you such a thing. You barely have any saline in your band thus you can eat everything. When you get it checked out I would go back in for a fill immediately. If one doesn't work then go back again. It took me 5 to feel good restriction. Your band is fine. It is just not working properly because you are not filled enough. Julie

If you are losing that is all that matters. In my case I can only eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food and I'm losing. I am fine with that.

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
juliegeraci replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My doctor recommends 24 hours of liquids followed by 24 hours of mushies, then solids, -
You should do much better after your 3rd fill. Also, make sure you are eating enough solid protein. That may help you stop snacking at night.
-
Yes it is time but your surgeon may make you wait 6 weeks for a fill. Try and count calories while you wait for a fill. Try to stay between 1000 and 1200.

telling others about my lapband
juliegeraci replied to alex10's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Alex10, You will just eat smaller quantities. I think the most difficult part is the post op diet. You will have to be on liquids first then mushy then solid. That may be the most obvious part. Good luck. -
Hi TenGal. Getting banded was the best thing I have ever done. I am considered an average loser at 2 lbs per week. I am down 56 lbs since June 6th of last year. I have another 46 to go. I love having restriction and never being hungry. I think you will enjoy eating less and feeling full longer. Good luck.

Jen, you are doing fantastic. Keep up the good work.
