Don't give up. Go in for fills until you can only hand 1/4 cup of food. That is a good restriction. You can do this.

Looking for striaght talk/advice:)
juliegeraci replied to Topaz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I always start my day with a protein shake. That gets me 30 grams of protein. You can be okay if you even eat 45 grams so don't worry too much about it. -
Hi Helen, don't feel like a failure. You are doing great. Hang in there.

Isn't restrictioin the best! The better part is when you aren't hungry all day long either.

You can have anything that fits through a straw. I loved creamy soups the best. They kept me satisfied.

Sounds like you need another fill. My friend has 4.2 in her band. I think it just depends on what size band you have. Hers holds 5 ccs.

Danny, congrats on getting banded. It sounds like you are doing great. Keep up the good work. -
Kim, it took me 5 fills to finally feel restriction. I still have problems finding the right fill level. You will be fine. Just go back and get more saline if you aren't filled enough. good luck.

Mary, congrats on looking into the band again. It will be life changing. Good luck.

There is no scientific evidence that soda stretches the pouch. That being said, it typically will irritate you. You just need to sip slowly and see how it goes. Good luck.

Patti, congrats on taking the first step to a healthier life. You will love being banded. -
Yes, you may see a difference after waiting a week. I would give it a week and see how you are feeling . You may need a slight unfill.
-
Stacie, you need to make sure you are eating plenty of solid protein. You shouldn't be eating after you have eaten an hour prior. I would definitely talk to your surgeon about it. This might be habit but it has to stop. Good luck.

Help! I cant get motivated to exercise...plus some other questions..
juliegeraci replied to JA4602's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The answer is a tough one. First I would start with your restriction. Good restriction is when you can only consume 1/4 go 1/2 cup of food. It sounds like you are at the 1/2 cup mark which is good. If you are not losing, however I would go in for a minor adjustment. Exercise is a tough thing. You really need to make it a priority. The only motivation I have is that I have a personal trainer. That gets me to the gym 2x a week. I am not losing as fast as I could if I walked more during the week. You really need to make it a priority. How about a double stroller to hold both of your kids? That way you could get out ane take a walk during the day. Good luck. -

juliegeraci replied to KMEArnold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me about 8 weeks before I had my surgery. -
I am about the same size as you and I can fit fine on the rides at the amusement park. I say go for it.
-
Nursinggal, I would definitely go if I were you. You are not alone as a slow loser. Trust yourself and continue on your journey.

Tuna or chicken salad are good.

I am not sure if it will subside or not. You may want to ask your surgeon. I can tell you that sometimes with restriction comes burping and/or hiccups. It is quite common.
