That is a great NSV. I love hearing storied like that. Keep up the good work.

The first thing I would do is make sure you have the right level of restriction. If you can eat too much that is why you aren't losing. I would definitely go back in for a fill first.

The only way to deal with it sadly enough is to just ignore it. Know that you are on your way to a healther you. Just stay positive. He isn't worth the energy.

Happy to find this forum

Hi Jen, you can have anything that fits through a straw. I would try creamy soups if I were you. They really helped me through that rough patch. Good luck. -
Sorry to hear about the delay. I too had many delays. Just try and be patient. YOu have a lot to look forward to.

How To Tell When You Are Perfectly Adjusted
juliegeraci replied to Woodys's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you are always hungry you either are not eating enough solid protein or you need a fill. Since I don't know your diet I am assuming you need a fill. You should be losing 1-2 lbs a week. Your consumption shouldn't be more than 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food at a time. Good luck. -
Coming Up On 10 Days Since Surgery - Post Op Diet Questions
juliegeraci replied to Jobstud's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is very common. I believe I was back on solids anywhere from 4-6 weeks. You are right on track. -
I am still about 25 lbs from goal. People do not treat me any different. I am an average loser at 1-2 lb a week. I've lost 58 lbs in 13 months.

I'm So Disappointed
juliegeraci replied to mariaxoxo4u's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sorry to hear that. Keep the faith. It will be worth it. -
I always start my day with a 30 gram protein shake. If you throw in some ice you can make it really nice. You may want to substitute your ice cream for a chocolate shake. They are 300 calories. I bet a pint of Ben & Jerry's is 800 calories. That is death! Do you need a fill? How is the job search. That is a very stressful time. Take good care of yourself.

How will I do looong business dinners?
juliegeraci replied to NewCC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The secret is to just pace yourself. I would take a bite or 2 of each dish waiting in between dishes. Also, I read a book recently and the doctor in the book said take a sip of wine in between. It will not kill you and it will space the food out. Have fun and enjoy. -
Please tell me not to lose hope - please!

Ask your doctor if you can make payments. That is the only way I can get a fill too. -
You look great. Keep up the good work.

Hi Dorothy. They probably will direct you at the seminar. You most likely will have to have blood work, psych eval and meeting with a nutritionist. Hopefully your insurance will cover everything for you. Mine did, accept fot the fills.

Can you ever drink through a straw again?
juliegeraci replied to Maurdan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I drink through a straw perfectly. No problems here. -
You are not alone. I have been banded since June of last year. I have only lost 50 lbs. I have had so many fills I have lost count. Last fill was to 3ccs which was about 3 weeks ago. I have no lost my fill yet again. It is so frustrating. I go back into the surgeon on Thursday to find out if my fill was lost again. I had that happen once already. I am totally disgusted with myself right now. I don't really know what to do other than try and get yet anoter fill.
-
Surby, you sound just like me. I have been banded a year and have only lost 50 lbs. I can eat everything, just less of it. I am going back in for a fill this Thursday. You are not alone.

Mine is just about at the waist line and I love it. I can never feel it.

Another Newby! Self Payer
juliegeraci replied to ParaGirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to lapband talk forum. I love being banded. My weight loss is just average at 50 lbs this year. The band is simply a tool. Don't expect rapid weight loss. Some bandsters lose really fast but you may be average like me. Just follow the rules, exercise and enjoy being banded. -
Don't worry too much about weight loss. If your insurance company doesn't care you shouldn't. Just eat and stop when you are full. The preop diet is to shrink your liver. You may only lose 5 - 10 lbs on it. You will be okay with that. Good luck.
-
Yes, you need another fill. You shouldn't be able to eat 5 shrimps with a large caesar salad. You should only be able to eat a little bit of a hamburger patty as well. Go back in until you can only eat 1/4 cup of food. Good luck.

Hi Janie, I was banded a year ago June 6th and I can honestly say I am very discouraged. I have lost approximately 50 lbs. I swear I haven't lost an ounce in 6 months. I keep going back for fills, one after the other. Somedays I have good restriction, other days I feel like its lost. I go back into my surgeon on Thursday of this week so I am hoping he can give me some solid advice. I would go to another surgeon if I were you. I bet you ten bucks you have lost some of your supposed fill. Almost 3 years out with no fills, that is just crazy. Good luck.

Sounds like you are well on your way. Good job! Congrats and I hope you get your band soon.
