Do I Have A "pig Out" Day!!
juliegeraci replied to REDGIRL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will not hurt you if you don't mind what the scale says. I wish I had eaten a double cheeseburger from In N Out! I also miss Subway sandwiches. I don't think it would hurt you. -
What is normal weight loss????
juliegeraci replied to lbunnehe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lose 1-2 lbs per week and nothing more. Given the fact that you lost 5 lbs quickly your body is evening out right now. Just stay focused and the weight will come off. It may only be 1-2 lbs a week which is considered average. -
Please tell me how you know your full.

Sometimes you will feel it in your chest. Sometimes you will feel that your stomach just can't take anymore food. Sometimes you even hiccup. If you overeat you will PB after you start to get fills. As far as eating just to eat, you can certainly eat around the band so you'll have to be careful. Eating several meals a day is not a good idea. You should be able to go hours without eating if you have the right fill level. I can only eat 1/4 cup of food at a time. Sometimes just 1oz of protein. The key too is to eat solid protein first. It keeps you fullest the longest. Once you get on solids that will be important. Soft proteins like cottage cheese go through the band faster and will not keep you satisfied as long. Good luck. -
Lynn, I was a nervous wreck. I couldn't stop crying I was so worried and concerned. Looking back on it now I wouldn't trade my band for anything. The surgery was a breeze. Having my gallbladder out was 2x more difficult. So if you are worried about pain management consult with your surgeon. If not, go for it. Its an easy procedure.

Best to stay on the recommended liquids and move to mushies slowly. If you have trouble going to the bathroom I would recommend a laxative or a stool softner. Your doctor can prescribe the stool softner. Sometimes when we change our diets these things happen. Good luck.

Kaelin's gma - Love your NSV. You are doing great. Keep up the good work. You'll be in a 20 in no time.

Ivarose, I really appreciate your honesty in your post. It sounds like you have gone through a lot. Good for you that you finally have your band diet figured out. It sounds like you really had to go to the extreme to do that. Keep up the good work.

How much can you eat in one meal?
juliegeraci replied to PigsRFlying's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can only eat a out 2 oz at a time. More like 1/4 of a cup of food. I have perfect restriction I think. -
I am tight in the a.m. as well. That is why I drink protein shakes in the a.m. If you can only eat 1/2 cup you are at the right fill level. Also, since you are not hungry that is a great level for you. Just take it slow.

How can I get myself to go to the gym??? I'm too embarrassed.
juliegeraci replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Rain, I felt the same way until I started to work out on a regular basis. First I would go get some new workout gear. I bought mine at Lane Bryant. I would suck it up and do it. You'll feel really good about yourself if you do. Good luck. -
You are doing fabulous. Congrats!

Congrats on your NSV. Good job!

Chris, that is fantastic news. Congrats.

I am such a screw up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
juliegeraci replied to yummieT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YummieT, first don't be so hard on yourself. Start back today and eat solid protein tonight. Tomorrow get up and have a cup of coffee followed by some protein. I start my day with a protein shake. I then move onto solid protein. Sometimes I can eat 1/2 sandwich. Commit yourself today! You can do this. Get on a meal plan. Maybe meet back with the Nutritionist too. -
Overcome By Food-no Band Restriction
juliegeraci replied to embracelve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The band doesn't work until you start getting fills. That is why they make you wait 6 weeks. You are in the healing stage. I gained in between fills too so don't worry. Just schedule your first fill and you will feel better. It took me 5 fills to finally get to my sweet spot so hang in there. It may take some time. -
Embarrassed, ashamed, scared, HELP PLEASE!
juliegeraci replied to Jennifer4118's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jennifer, I live in Gilroy. You want to meet for a drink or dinner sometime. I've been banded for 15 months and am doing great. Let me know. I can meet you in Blossom Hill area off of 85. You are doing great. Don't beat yourself up. Have you had a fill yet? -
Micki, you and I are in the same boat exactly. I weighed 320 post op and I'm down to 224 and a size 18. The only thing I can tell you is a fill will definitely help. You must recommit yourself to your exercise right away too. My goal is to recommit and give up alcohol after I go on vacation in September. Write me anytime. I would love a new friend!

Devistated......sigh..........
juliegeraci replied to mermaidpuppy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
mermaid, that pisses me off when doctors do that. My doctor definitely wouldn't have. That is such a bummer. There is no reason why he shouldn't have give you the lapband. You are overweight for a reason. You just need a kick start. I would go on his diet and report back into him as often as possible until you hit the mark for surgery. Best of luck. -
What do you eat for breakfast? I need ideas!
juliegeraci replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Eggs are really good for you so don't worry too much about that. Protein shakes are my savior. I have them every day. -
As them how the band works, what size they typically use, how much saline they hold, what the recovery time is, how much time off of work, pain control, where they place the port, incisions....all of those types of questions. I am happy for you. Good luck.

Tell me - What's the worst thing & what's the best
juliegeraci replied to Boomer46's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The worse thing to expect is PBing. It happens and you have to accept that with the band. The best thing is how easy it will be to lose weight. You will see a big difference in a short amount of time. Good luck. -
How do you pick a GOAL weight???
juliegeraci replied to Raven5683's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Plain and simple I am picking it as a size. I would love to be a size 14/16. I currently am in a size 18. I think I can hit that with 20-30 more lbs. Wish me luck! -
I'm in the same boat too. I have my last 40 lbs tolose and I feel like it is taking forever. I haven't lost a lb in 3 weeks and I am at the right fill level. Please help!
