juliegeraci replied to Dave01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dave, it sounds like you are on the right track. Good for you! You will love it when you get some good restriction. -
Two Days to Go!!!!
juliegeraci replied to justwant2lose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just relax and take care of yourself. Ask for pain meds if you need them and get plenty of rest. -
Heather, congrats on your surgery date. You will love the restriction the band gives you! Good luck.

Mushies phase question
juliegeraci replied to fairydust's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you aren't filled you don't have restriction. What you are experiencing is normal. It will change when you start getting fills. -
Don't be so down on yourself. You need a fill if you can eat more than 1/4-1/2 cup of food. Don't worry if it take you several fills to reach that level. You are normal. Just keep going back for me. Don't be shy.

Considering Lapband..should I? or shouldn't I?
juliegeraci replied to iluvronniejr's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Bridget, I break the rules and drink with meals without a problem. I can still only consume 1/4 cup of food. Also, 800 calories is pretty low. You may find that you can still lose 1-2 lbs per week at 1k to 1200 calories. Good luck. -
I DID IT!!!!(warning...shameless joy inside!!!)
juliegeraci replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Rain, isn't it great to have that level of restriction!? Welcome to bandland. Good job. -
Do you have correct restriction? Are you making poor food choices? Recommit yourself, go in for a fill and get back on the band wagon!

Good Restriction/Tight In The AM (need ideas)
juliegeraci replied to ShellMarr's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I always start my day with a protein shake. It gives me 30 grams of protein. -
Protien shake recommendations...Please
juliegeraci replied to mbanja's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I use GNC's protein shake. 1 scoop with a cup of non fat milk gives you 30 grams of protein. -
has anyone lost 50lbs or more and how long did it take?
juliegeraci replied to andielmt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Andrea, I lost about 60 lbs my first year. That is about 1.1 lbs per week. You may lose faster, it just depends on if you exercise or not. Don't be discouraged. Yes, it will probable take you 2 years to lose 140. Julie -
I would go in for another fill. There is nothing better than good restriction. Good luck.
-
I would try eating some grapes with the skin on first. They went down my band fine.

1-2 lbs per week loss...thoughts and such
juliegeraci replied to musicalmomma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is no concern on losing 3 lbs. I would be more concerned if you are losing more than 5 lbs in a week. You will lose muscle mass. I lose 1 lb a week and am 40 lbs from goal. -
I would wait. The Holidays are always a tough time.
-
The first fill usually isn't that much so you may not feel the difference. It took me 5 fills to feel real restriction. Hang in there.

2 days til surgery - - - LAST SUPPER?!!
juliegeraci replied to hazeleyegrl1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Besides eating a sandwich, I probably would eat one big ass plate of pasta or I would have had steak and lobster. Yummy. -
My surgeon said I could eat anything that fit through a straw. That being said, I enjoyed creamy soups a lot. They really helped my hunger pains. Yogurt should be okay as well, especially the liquid yogurt drinks. Make sure you just double check with your surgeon.

Which weight do they use for approval?
juliegeraci replied to CandyE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would definitely eat until your BMI is 40%. You will have plenty of time to lose the weight. Good luck. -
I would have no problem following up with the surgeon. I would call him every 2 weeks or so. My approval took about 3 months.
-
I think you should be on the mushie stage. Be very careful of solids until your surgeon tells you it is okay. Also, it is normal to eat like a normal person if you have started your fills. My surgeon recommends 6 weeks after surgery to begin the process of fills. It took me several months to get the spot that I eat less. Good luck.
-
How is your restriction? You need to omit all bad foods from you cupboards as well. You can do this.
-
You are right on track, great work. 1-2 lbs a week is perfect. It is slower but is better for you in the end. Good job.
-
I can only eat 1/4 cup of food and I'm happy with that. I always drink a protein shake for breakfast followed by lean protein for my lunch and dinner. I typically snack on cheese or more protein.

You look great. Keep up the good work.
