    Manitoba anyone?

I have a date!!!! Surgery is scheduled for Feb. 2nd. I start the opti-fast next week. Not looking forward to being on that for two weeks but very much looking forward to the changes I will be able to make afterwards. Now have to figure out how to have my own ticker thingy with my posts.
  4. Thanks guys, er gals :cursing: for all your responses. I agree with you also in that I appreciate Doddie's attention and positive attitude.
  5. Hello, What is the difference between the 'slimband' and the 'lapband'? I am scheduled to have the 'lapband' done at the Maples Centre in Wpg. in Feb. Just curious if there was any real difference other than brand. Thanks.
  6. Hi again Lucy, Just to let you know that the Lapband is offered at the Maples Surgical Centre in Winnipeg, cost is 17,500 plus taxes. :tongue2:

    Hello all, I"m new here

Hey Lucy, Winnipeg also has clinic that does lapband, although it is selfpay as well . I understand what you mean about the ridiculous waiting times to get it covered thru your provincial medicare...IF you're lucky enough to live in a Province that covers it! I am in the process myself just waiting for a surgery date.

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi Joanne, Consultation went well, certainly feel very comfortable with the folks at the Maples Centre. I go see my GP today for the physical and blood work etc. I don't know yet how long I'll have to wait to set a surgery date. Jen had indicated that she had a few dates open for Feb. but that they had done lots of consults thru Dec. so it was kind of a first come first choice basis. Hopefully will have all paper work back to her by the end of next week. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Glad to hear that your surgery went well and that you seem to have little discomfort!! :tongue2:
  9. Had my consultation yesterday and feeling much better...got lots of questions answered. Now going forward, have to get physical and blood work done before I can schedule a surgery date. VERY HAPPY!
  10. hi Kat, thanks for the encouragement. I'm a bundle of nerves today and its only the consultation! I'm hoping that once I get more info on what the process is leading up to the actually surgery I will be calmer.

    Considering banding in Manitoba

hello everyone, I am going for my first consultation on Dec. 30th. I am not sure how long after that surgery can be scheduled. I HATE the idea of having to pay for the whole procedure myself, but there are no doctors in Manitoba that do it through Manitoba health. My family doctor tried to get me into see a doc in Alberta, however, he has a cutoff age of 50 for the patients he sees. I'm hoping that I can get the surgery done in early 09.
