    Manitoba anyone?

DIVA & MANDINE; Have either of you had your psychologist appointments? Your fears may be something to discuss there. Perhaps one of the docs would be willing to answer your concerns as well. I would talk to Jen and see what advice she has for you. Good luck to you both.

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi everyone, I just got a call from Jen, changing my next fill appointment. Apparently they have a nurse practictioner who will be doing the fills from now on.

DIVA: I didn't meet with the anestitist ahead of time....only saw him briefly right before surgery....but your concerns should be mentioned to Jen and she'll pass them on to the docs. I met with the psychologist about three weeks before surgery and the dietian about two weeks before just intime for me to start the optifast.

    Manitoba anyone?

Diva: I only waited about a month between the initial consultation and the surgery.....but as you just indicated with the docs are off for a period of time in August. From what I understand they are already booking into September. Jen will contact you once all your prelim exam results have been gone over....I know with me they had to consult the anestitist as well before booking a date. I would call and talk to Jen if you have concerns.

    Manitoba anyone?

WANNA BE; I do agree with you in that I don't find myself thinking about food all the time....other than how I'm going to adjust what I'm making for supper to suit how I need to eat. I can't honestly say that I'm ever really hungry.....now that's not to say I'm a saint either lol. Its all about getting back on track if I've slipped and forgiving myself instead of beating myself up like I would have in the past.

WANNA BE; Thanks for the info about the bathing suit shop at Polo Park.....I also was told about 'Swimming Matters' on Waverly and Grant, it carries only polyester bathing suits which are the kind you want if you're going to be in the pool any amount. I also wonder about the purging thing.....I haven't experienced any of that ....thank goodness....but I do wonder why I don't feel the intense restriction that some of you talk about. I am supposed to be at 5cc and only have a slight restriction...if I eat slow enough and don't drink with my meals (sheesh thats not an easy habit to break) I'm usually okay. I suppose I shouldn't focus on the restriction as long as I'm losing

Speaking of Lulu Lemon, a friend of mine who is about an 18/20 bought a pair of workout pants there that look fantastic on her....very flattering and slimming! I have no idea how much they cost though.

    Manitoba anyone?

My exercise is in the pool, so my 'workout clothes' are bathing suits lol. Peekers on Stafford is where I've gotten mine these past few years.

I just read the thread about the summer special at the Maples.....with the lapband surgery being $2000 less! Wow,shouda, coulda, woulda... *sigh* still I'm glad I had it done no matter that I paid more. I'm also glad that I haven't experienced 'sliming' it sounds nasty!

    Manitoba anyone?

hi moonbeam, I know what you mean about feeling happy about feeling discomfort LOL. What does 'slime' mean? I haven't had anything like that...only the 'stuck' feeling.

    Manitoba anyone?

Hey moonbean, how did you make out today? I got another 1/2cc put in....will see how "restricted" that makes it. I was down another 6lbs whoo hoo!!

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi everyone, I am going for my fifth fill today...so far am only feeling a slight restriction. I also have experienced that burning sensation ....and yes did drink water trying go get the 'lump' to pass....and yes that made it MUCH worse so I won't be doing that to myself again! Hard as it is to do, smaller bites and stopping between bites does work....trying hard not to slip back into my old habits.

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi Moonbeam, My fill is scheduled for 12:40.....it was changed from 5:10pm. Jen called me last Tuesday evening to let me know about the change. Hope to see you there.

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi leslee, you may find that as you lose weight and there is less fat around the stomach and the band that you will need more 'fill' to feel that same restriction. Anyone else going for their fills on Tuesday the 7th? If so perhaps will see you there.

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi wanna be, I had my surgery Feb. 3rd. I go for my next fill July 7th.

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi everyone, I hadn't heard the term "bandster hell'. I guess that is what I've been in waiting to have restriction. It's taking me to 5cc to finally feel some. Weight loss has been slow, though I don't feel too discouraged as I have stated before that any downward turn of the scale is good news to me!

    Manitoba anyone?

hi Canadian girl, I was on Naproxin before surgery...was told by the docs to discontinue because of how hard it can be on the stomach....because our digestion is slowed down the medication may sit in the 'pouch' damaging the lining of said pouch. I muddle along using tylenol arthritis, but it certainly doesn't have the same effect as the anti inflams.

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi everyone, I have only told my family and a few close friends about my lapband surgery. I know that it can be viewed by some as too drastic or the "easy way " etc. instead of a tool to help me with my weight problem. I did have one friend who tried to discourage me from having the surgery and now we talk about everything but the lapband. Kind of like the elephant in the room no one talks about....no pun intended lol. I do,however, get plenty of support from other friends and family for which I am very grateful.

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi Want to be a Loser, I think you'll find that once you get the staples out that you'll feel soooo much better. I waited 3 weeks to get them out and they were so itchy. Once they were out most the discomfort disappeared. My shoulder pain took awhile longer but eventually eased as well. I was surprised to hear they do fills on Saturday.....I thought all the fills were done on Tuesdays. I guess this has to do with the increase in clients the clinic now has. It's actually fun getting to chat with others on "fill day".

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi Moonbeam, I think my first two fills were 1 and a half cc's and the next two were 1cc each. Its taken me 4 fills to get to 5cc's. My weight loss since surgery has been slow....but as far as I'm concerned any downward turn on the scale is a good thing! I'm looking forward to better results in the coming months now that some restriction has kicked in. I would have liked to be one of those who had immediate results with minimal fills but alas that was not to be. I am VERY optomistic that I will be a much thinner version of myself a year from now

    Manitoba anyone?

hi Moonbeam, I'm currently at 5cc's. I go back in July for more.....well hopefully I'll see by then if i need more.

    Manitoba anyone?

Good news! I am finally feeling some restriction! WHOO HOO!! Who knew one could be happy with this uncomfortable feeling LOL!
  23. mimi5757

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi Mandine, I understand what you mean about the cost.... you have to weigh...pardon the pun....your options. I know that most of us here have done every weight loss program out there....lost and gained back the same pounds.... sometimes plus! I for one really think its about time that this kind of surgery was offered through Manitoba health! Make a list of all your questions and concerns and talk to the docs about them during your consultation. The docs at the Maples are very patient and understanding about all our concerns. Good luck! :wink2:

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi everyone I am 4 months post op and have had 4 'fills' .... approx 5cc in a 10cc band. I am still not feeling any restriction :ihih:. Anyone else having this problem, I have lost a small amount of weight post op but it has more to do with me being very careful with portions and exercising than the band. I realize that more factors into weight loss than the amount of 'fill' in the band but it is very frustrating. Thanks for letting me vent!

    Manitoba anyone?

Hi Moonbeam, the doc just says to be patient as everyone is different. I will be more persistant if I still don't feel restriction with the next fill. The first fill comes at 6 weeks post op. Then at 4 week intervals.....again this is individual depending on how you feel. Hope all is well with you I know you'll feel MUCH better after the staples come out.
