Well said MichiganChic!!!

What I don't understand is why some feel its okay to ask you such personal questions in the first place! I'm talking about the "looky loos" .......casual acquaintances /co-workers who seem to think they have a right to know your business

Hi Connie, I can't say enough about how happy I am that I had the surgery. It's not a miracle procedure, but a wonderful tool that can help you achieve your weight loss goals. The doctors and staff especially Terri and Jen are very supportive and great sources of information to help you. As I've said before I have my struggles but over all am very pleased with what I've achieved thus far. Good Luck in your journey.

hi, looking for anyone that has had or is intending to have lap band surgery @ Maples Surgical Centre. I'm hoping for early 09.

Hey Moonbeam, I find myself in the same boat as you. Losing and gaining the same ten pounds.....dang slider foods! I'm hoping this spring and summer will get me back into the groove. I do feel wonderful with the 90 lbs gone even though that's only half way to my goal * sigh* I'm the only one who can re-kick start this! As to Kedorby, your best bet is to talk to Jen at the Maples about financing arrangements. I had to pay up front but not sure if other methods are accepted. Good Luck to you, even though I may be struggling some I'm sooooooo glad I had the surgery!

Hi everyone, I finally went through my dresser and closets and packed up all the "too big" clothes. I'm sure you all can relate how good that feels! Three garbage bags full going to charity as well as another that went into the garbage. I was amazed how much stuff I was hanging on to.....for what?? Hopefully 6 months from now I'll be doing this all over again as I continue to get closer to my goal . It is nice to be able to 'fit' into clothes as opposed to just being glad you have something that covers. Hope you all are continuing to do well.

Hello everyone, its been ages since I've checked in here. I've had a slow summer no move up or down in weight.....I guess that can be a good thing ...depends how you look at it eh. I had a rotten cold about 6 weeks ago and with all the coughing I was throwing up everything I tried to eat or drink as a result I irritated my stoma and had to have a small defill to ease things up. I feel much better now and hoping to get on the losing track again. Happy Holidays to everyone and here's hoping we all manage well into 2011.

Hi Moonbeam, I find myself in the same boat up and down the same few pounds.....trying not to obsess about though

Hi everyone, I got to meet with Danielle last week, wanted to get my eating back on track. Terri arranged this for me. I didn't even know we COULD see her again after the initial consult. Lesson number one, take advantage of the available resources! I was happy to find out I haven't fallen as far off the wagon as I thought!

Hey sk27, Those 'shots' you're talking about sound interesting ....let us know how they're working for you and how you found out about them.

Hello y'all..... just trying to update my ticker :bored:
-
Hi everyone, I had a .5cc fill last Tuesday and since have been experiencing horrendous heartburn. I have tried over the counter acid reducers and pepto bismal with little success. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve it?
-
Hi everyone, I found like Moonbeam that I can manage a piece of well toasted toast but as for regular bread or buns I don't even bother cause I know they'll get stuck. Pasta is pretty much the same I can handle a very very small portion just to say I had some but any more and I'm asking for trouble. I too went 5-6 months before any "real" restriction. Over all I am still glad that I had the surgery, the weight isn't falling off as I would have liked but all the bits add up.
-
Hello everyone, Anyone else have fill appointments this Tuesday (16th)? I've been losing and gaining the same three pounds for a month now . Hoping to get myself back on the losing track. CONGRATS to all of you who are doing well!!
-
Hello everyone, How did you all do over the holidays? I must confess buttertarts got the best of me....and as Doctor B. says the band isn't buttertart proof :smile2: I went in this morning for my checkup and managed to be down a bit.....good thing all these bits add up! Now to get back on track.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! I am worried about the big dinner tomorrow, finally feeling what seems to be my 'sweet spot' .....have to eat veeeerrrryyy slowly or else! I may have to just eat mushies and leave the rest so I'm not still eating dinner at supper time Here's hoping we all manage well through the holidays. CHEERS!

hello all just trying to update my ticker

Hello everyone, seems like forever since I've checked in, been puttering along, the weight and inches continue to come off SLLLLOOOOOOWWLY! In a much better place than I was six months ago though.

Hi everyone, I too go for my next fill on Oct. 13th so may see some of you there. I feel like I've been struggling the past few weeks.....this is when a local group meeting might prove helpful. The docs keep telling me that slower weight loss is better in the long run, but, oh how I envy those of you who can register those big numbers! *sigh* I guess the idea is not to compare myself and just be happy with what I've been able to accomplish. Well enough of that pity party!! I start core training next week so that should kick start some positive thoughts....funny how as much as I don't like to exercise I always feel better afterwards.
-
Hi all, I get the hiccups all the time .....usually when I eat too fast or too big of bites. Dr. B said it just a reflex of pressure on the diaphram and nothing to be concerned about. On the whole I would rather deal with hiccups than the PB's that some other talk about having.
-
Two thumbs up for Moonbeam! I feel very much the same way.....you did a great job of putting it into words.
-
Moonbeam, you must have went in just as I arrived. My appointment was for 10:50 I got there about 20 to 11. By 11:35 I asked where I was on the wait list cause I had to be at work for 12.....was told there were still two people ahead of me.....so I went and told Jen that I would have to reschedule.....she said the next appointment would be when I was originally scheduled two weeks from now! Then she said she would see how long the docs were going to be there ....as it turned out they didn't finish surgeries till nearly 4pm and then had a consultation so Jen called me at work and asked me to come back in for 4:45. Well as fate would have it I ended up not getting a fill anyhow....doc said why fix what ain't broke....I managed to lose another 7lbs in the past 4 weeks. WAHOO! I must be doing something right, now if i can just figure out what that is !
-
Moonbeam, My appointment is at 10:50, so unless they are really running behind you will be gone before I get there. Let's both hope for painless fills though!
-
Mandine: I don't have any regrets about having the surgery, though I'm still waiting to reach the 'sweet spot' that the docs talk about. Weight loss has been slow but as I've stated previously any downward turn of the scale is a good thing!!
-
I too hope that with more practice when I go on the 11th she will have found her niche and it will be as painless as when the docs do it!
