I too had that happen a few weeks after surgery, I was told that it was perfectly normal just not to overdo it. I am 10 months post op and every now and then I do something to aggravate it. Don't do crunches or situps, I learned the hard way about that! Lol !

is anyone noticeing your weight loss?
LPAYTON88 replied to Elliottsmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery in January and have lost 70 pounds so far, and within the last few weeks I started to get comments about how I have lost. It feels so good when people notice what I have accomplished. Sadly my weightloss has stalled and am now at a plateau, but I am very proud of the weight loss I have and wouldn't change a thing. Don't worry people will start noticing, and maybe they already have but just hadn't said anything to you! -
Don't feel bad, it can be very depressing at times. I had surgery in January and lost 70 pounds so far and the one thing that has helped is exercise. At first I didn't exercise but once I started it made a huge difference. I don't feel like I've lost very quickly but at least I haven't gained anything back. I have hit a plateau now and believe me I'm so frustrated I don't know what to do. All I know is that with this tool I have lost 70 pounds that I wouldn't have lost otherwise. Try exercising and journaling everything you eat and hopefully that will get the ball rolling.

I can understand where you are coming from, I have a 16 year old that is overweight and probably my fault. I have conquered my eating habits but for a teenager it is so much harder. I have considered LAPBAND for my son but he is not in the right mind set yet. He has watched me go through all of this and he doesn't think he can do it. I try to encourage him but in the end he has to want it for himself because it won't work unless you make it work. They have to understand that the weight is not magically going to come off, you have to be dedicated and work hard to get the weight off. I would wait if I were you and try other options first like counseling or take him to the family doctor and have him explain to the child what can happen to him if he doesn't get more active. Hopefully the scare tactic might work for now, give it a couple of years and then see how his mind set is then.

relatinship changes after weight loss/surgery
LPAYTON88 replied to purple3797's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well for me my relationship has gotten so much better because I feel more confident and sexier ! My boyfriend seems to love the new me too! -
I know how you feel, I have 7cc in a 9cc band and I get stuck all the time. I do think alot of it is my fault because I think I eat too fast or take bigger bites, I still haven't mastered that yet. Just start out slow and try one thing at a time to see how it goes. I was really scared too but what is really weird to me is that one day I can eat a slice of pizza or a piece of chicken and the next day I can't. I always try to stick to a protein and vegetables for lunch and dinner so far that still goes down pretty good.

Eat or Drink before a fill?
LPAYTON88 replied to jenpen2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All my appts. are in the afternoon and I've always did like I do everyday, eat and drinking should not be a problem. -
My doctor told me that with the lapband it was ok but gastric bypass patients could not ever again. Since I have been losing weight and eating better my headaches have almost vanished. I rarely get them anymore.

I guess you're right BetsyB, I didn't really look at it that way, I think I'm a little anxious, I want to get under 200 lbs by June if possible, I haven't been under 200 lbs in over 15 years so I guess I'm trying to hurry it up a little.

experiencing terrible pain in port area when bending over
LPAYTON88 replied to Katy517's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I'm 3 months post op and I still have pain from time to time. I made the mistake of wearing panty hose the other day and by the end of the day I thought I was dying! After that I hurt for 2 weeks. The doctor told me that where the port is I will have to be careful, but as I lose weight it should get better. You just have to not wear anything too tight for awhile. -
6cc no restriction !!!!!!!
LPAYTON88 replied to riggs99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey BetsyB! I am new on here and I was banded 1-20-10 but I've only lost 30 pounds so far. We started at the same weight too! How did you lose so much so quickly? I have 6.5cc in a 9cc band and I feel some restriction but I'm still eating about 900-1200 calories a day. I understand everyone's frustration, I stick to the plan very well and exercise every chance I get and I feel like I'm a failure! But I'm not giving up! At least I'm not gaining! Thank you guys for all the posts this really helps me. -
I was banded January 20, 2010 and have only lost 30 pounds, it is really frustrating to me because I'm doing what I'm suppose to do, I think. I ate some potatoes the other day and I was a pound heavier after I did that! I guess you have to really watch the carbs and exercise more. I've already have my 4th fill and have 6.5cc in a 9cc band.

I was banded 1-20-2010, and am needing people to talk to. My follow up appt is tomorrow so I guess I'll find out more then. But the support group is great!

Add me, mine is lmpayton@cox.net, I was banded January 20th and would love someone to talk to about it!

I was banded on Jan. 20th and my stomach is getting better day by day. I am not bloated like I was a couple of days ago, but I still am sore and by the end of my work day I can sure feel it. I've only lost 13 pounds total so far but that is from the diet. I'm trying hard to stick to everything but what is helping me is eating a snack in the morning and in the afternoon and that usually satifies me.

I'm on day 13 after surgery, and I'm still uncomfortable, it's tolerable but if I do too much or walk to much I can sure feel it.
