That is so Great that you are there for your wife ,it does make a difference in the long run .I will never forget all my husband has done for me in my time of need .The love I feel for him can not compare to words .He has been my rock and strengh when I could not do for myself . Once this weight comes off our lives will change only for the better . It's so nice to hear that there are still men who cherish their wives and puts her interest first . I hope you both have a wonderful ,and fun filled life together Best Wishes

I have Aenta POS as my insurance ,and I was approved as a matter of fact tomorrow I will be having the lap-band in place . I gathered all my weights for 5yrs. mostly Weight Watchers cards ,and gym membership (Curves) .I did all my testing and happy I did ,since I never knew I had sleep apena ,and now I am on the CPAP machine level 10. I was always tired out and never rested for about 3 years ,I have had it only 3 days I sleep all night and awake with no headaches I feel GREAT! I was missing 1yr of weights 2007,that's where my Curves came in to play ,I gave that (copies) to my insurance for submission ,and that worked just fine. Everything was sent in on Dec. 22 ,2008 and approved Dec.24TH. My weights were all over the place since 2005 up then down that shows I was attempting to lose the weight, also that I was and am a serious about weightLloss ,this could benefit you . Keep your head up and keep records on names of the people you have spoken to with dates, give copies of all your weights and medical records to the person who is doing your paperwork .I wish you much success and know you will be just fine .Everything has away of working it self out ,again Best Wishes!!!

Hasmik, Well I'm happy you have come to decision ,you know if you think about it what you spend in food and doctors ,and clothing will far exceed what you will spend in a fill. You might not need that many (fills)of them til you hit your sweet spot . I wish your husband was more responsive to your needs not so much the wants ,but the medical decision to get healthy . It is a shame that he does not understand what this could mean for the both of you .Less medical bills ,lower food bills ,and LONGER LIFE SPAN . .I can not imagation having to ask my husband for his suport in a life altaring decison ,and him asking about monies "WHERE THERE IS A WILL THERE IS A WAY'.That's our motto,we take it as it comes .We are far from being rich and struggle daily to make our bills pay check to pay check .I find my life to be blessed and I was given this chance to gain back my life and live it to the fullest. You need to really sit down and have a heart to heart He either stands by you or he doesn't either way it's your body and your responsible for who you are ,and what you wish to be . My heart does feel for you and I hope your husband comes around and will be supportive of you .Things always have a way of working themselves out and I'm sure they will for you as well. Best wishes I send you ,and I will keep you in my prayers .Two more days and I will be in the on my way to a better me .Hooray ,finally it's a new jourany and I'm ready !!!

Congrats Peanutband , I'm so happy you had made it through so well, I did say a pray for you . I'm 2 days away from having mine done and must say still scared as hell ,but I'll be alright (I hope). One thing I wish I had was a recliner my girlfriend gave my her pull out bed (couch) just for the reason of having the surgery .I've slept on it for 2nights just to see it would feel ,and I must say it SUCKS! I can only image how hard it is going be after wards . I do have a king size bed upstairs ,but my bathroom is down stairs. The 1/2 is under construction (upstairs) has been for 2weeks now .I have a lounge in my living room ,I think I'm better off in that and besides it's already broken in . Again best wishes ,and now you on your way !

Question about 3 & 6 month diet on Aetna...
Ronda1966 replied to adagray's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Aetna PPOS, and I did the 3 month program . I did not have to do a diet ,but I did get weighted once a month for three months (doctors ) office. I had been in Weight watchers for 5years(off and on ) ,and Curves for Woman .That showed I tried to lose ,and did at times only to regain . .I go in for my band on January 14TH ,the process went fast for me started Sept.28TH 2009 was approved Dec.24Th. If you feel you need to do the 6 month program you do what you feel is right for you ,and that way you will be successful .I know that Aetna does help with weight lost Programs and I believe Weight Watchers is one of them ,also Jenny Craig .I think you get a discount on the programs and they can use that as weights towards (insurance approval) ,it did for me .I didn't need to do the 6 months and saved money that way ,it cost $39.00 a month and you have E -tools online to help with recipes and excise. Which ever way you go ,I wish you luck and hope you do well ,Best Wishes. -

I'm a failure...PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Ronda1966 replied to ThinDolphin3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't give up on yourself so easily. You will lose the weight ,but you have to stick to the program .Continue to excerise and eat the proper foods(not slider foods). Try and remember back to the first day you stepped on the scale and it moved .How did it make you feel ?? Keep that feeling in your head ,you have been through alot lately ,and you need to STOP beating yourself up .I have this same problem when I excerise I gain Water weight ,the weight you have gain could just be that .Then after a while your body will adjust to the work outs and you will see results. You didn't become overweight over night and you will not lose the weight over night ,this is a tool to help you and you just have to let it . Sounds like you might need a fill if you can eat more than you should .and leave out the bacon bits they contain salt which also retains Fluid in your body. Please take a look at what is in your cabinets and fridge grab a trash bag or give it to somebody who needs it.Remove the products that will not help you in your goal . One thing you must do is not eat that late at night ,I know that 's hard (or I would have never gotten where I am being overweight). That's where your will power has to come in to play here, the tool is to help it won't do all the work for you .I read where you said " I get hurgry at times I shouldn't be ,and not when I should be ",now that you know that work around it eat when you should even a little then when you shouldn't be hungry it won't be . If I come off sounding mean that in not my intention . You've come along very well with losing as far as weight coming off ,but you need encouragement ,so please don't be so hard on yourself .You only will be hurting yourself in the long run .When you are hungry grab a Protein drink it should hold you over till it's meal time ,if not drink favored water . You've put your body throgh all this ,don't give up now ,sit and think about how you felt 9months ago -10 months ago do you really want to be back there ?? I will keep you in my thoughts and hope you find your better off going at it slow and steady Best Wishes. -
Hasmik, Oh sweetie that is so hard when you don't have a support system ,your hubby should be standing by your side encouraging you to do what you need to .I must say you will find the support and strength here . This site has given me so much hope and courage to go forward with my decision. I am a 42 old woman with two grown children and a wonderful husband ,I have a 4 year old grandson to whom I wish to see grow up. I have many medical problems ,and all are due to my weight . I will be having my surgery in less than 5 days from now Jan.14th 2009 (I'm not counting today ,since it's already here ). I had all my pre-testing done yesterday(blood work, and ekg). I have purchased all my liquid drinks ,and things I will need when I get home ( gas x strips ,ect...).I did not have to do a 2 week diet ,but have cut back and have losted 2.3 pounds already .I drink slimfast twice a day ,I freezer to let it get crystals in it (that way it taste like a milk shake ). I wish you luck ,and hope your husband comes around if not do what you feel is right for YOU ! Best Wishes from me to you .

Excited for a new life
Ronda1966 replied to countryblue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well you've taken the first steps and that is something to be proud of . I will be having my surgery on January 14TH (next Weds). I'm scared as hell ,but excited at the same time to begin with you've already checked with your insurance which is a BIGGIE . Next the doctor will have you go through al ot of testing . I had to do all my testing within three months . I have AENTA POS that was their guides lines for my plan .I started out on Sept28th of 2008 and by Dec24Th I was approved, not bad ,but I have heard of people having to wait months or years . The key is NOT to give up hope and continue to see the doctor once a month for weighins.Gather all your weights for however many years your insurance company requires and KEEP COPIES of everything . Make sure they go to the proper person who is putting they packet together for the insurance company ,write down names and dates you spoke with them . Oh and another thing if you ever went to any kind of weight program (Weight watchers ,Jenny Craig ..ect) or were a gym member that will show that you have attempted to lose weight in the past . I wish you good blessing and hope you all the best in your quest -
Wow ! That is amazing ,in just one short month you have lost 36 pounds .I have my surgery January 14Th ,I hope I do just as well as you . Congrats on a job well done and keep up the great work. I hope you meet your goal on Feb.14Th as well .

Thanks for the food tips I have got to try that . I can't believe you have lost 10 pounds already way to go !!! You should be very proud of yourself I know I would be . You asked me how I feel well words really can't explain ,but I will try EXCITED ,THRILLED ,SCARED:scared:. I'm all over the place with emotions every time I think about it (13days away my heart starts to pound out of my chest). Thanks for the food tips I would of never thought of adding favoring to my liquid drinks. Now I won't be making those messed up face as I try and force the drink down .You asked how I feel well I can't even find the right words ,but excited and scared do come to mind .I have never been so nervous in my life and I've had plenty of surgeries. This one is so different because someday in the near future I'm going to wake up to seeing someone I don't know . That really freaks me out in a way ,but I look forward to that . Make sense ? I can't believe you've already lost 10 pounds your doing so good you should be so proud of yourself .Now I gotta get my butt in gear I really should walk ,but my knees are so bad and with this cold air here in New York that's not likely to happen .I have had surgery on my right knee twice so far and the last one really made me worst then ever . I know once the weigh comes off I'll be walking like a normal person again. I had lost 98 pounds in the pass with Weight Watches only to gain it back in a year (after the second surgery). I was in so much pain I was crying all the time ,but when I had lost all that weight walking was no problem . I was a manger of a hotel chain Best Western, then the knee surgery put me out of work and I just could not stand on my legs all day . Now I'm a stay at home house wife .(not for long I hope ) I miss the people and the excitement hell I miss my fat pay check . I say let my new life begin now!!! I'll be here if you ever won't to talk ,and keep me updated talk with you soon . -

I too am getting banded on Jan 14th , I start my liquid phase today ,since I just received my date yesterday . I like you went out and picked up everything I needed for the hospital and home . I also grabbed lip balm for after surgery ,since I've read a lot of people on here say your lips dry out , my pillow is waiting for the ride home . I don't know if I'll be staying overnight due to the fact I have CPAP MACHINE now . I really wouldn't mind that anyway, since I'm a big baby when it comes to pain (LOL). Well please keep me posted on your progress, since we are starting out on the same day ,I think we will have alot to talk about .Congrats to you !!!! -
