I sat and read your words ,and I must say my heart goes out to you . Every heavy set person goes through this and you don't have to feel alone . I had my lap-band put into place Jan.14th 2009 . I love it ,but some times I get depressed that the weight is coming off slowly . Then again I'm happy it's coming off ,you are very pretty and have a wonderful smile . I hope you continue to be strong and hold your head up high regardless of people and their remarks . Words can hurt ,but there just words you will have the tool that will change your life forever ,and people around you who judge you will change too . I wish you all the best ,and I will keep you in my prayers.

I also used pictures that I sent in . I did the 3 month jump start program with my surgeon started everything 9-27-2008 I ws approved Dec.24th 2008 ,and had my surgery January 14th of 2009. I have losted to date 56pounds of unhappiness. I feel great !! Yesterday I went to buy a pair of pants from size 22 to petite 14-16, then I decided to pick up a new shirt from 3x to large in the regular size section of clothing . I went to the dressing room to try them on and stepped outside the door to show my husband .I said I looked wonderful . I went back in to look again ,then I started my happy dance just looking at myself and how far I have come since my surgery.I wish everyone the same joy I feel with was worth it .Best wishes to all!!! Hello from IL...thinking about Lap Band
Ronda1966 replied to tbanks's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Tbanks, Good Morning ,I had my surgery done on Feb.14Th,and must say I am happy I did . I really can't help you with what is required for state aid .I did want to welcome you here ,and hope that you can find the help you need for your questions.I can tell you my experience has been a good one for me ,and the weight is coming off . I don't get on the scale ,but I feel the difference in my body . I wait till I see my LB doctor so ,I can get the "WOW " effect, then I get such a rush knowing I made the right choice for me .I will get my first fill on Feb.24TH . That is making me a little nervous ,but I know I will be one happy camper after wards . Summer is just around the corner and I can't wait to hit the pavement with walking outdoors ,the treadmill gets kinda of boring . Please keep me posted on if everything is going smoothly for you ,Best Wishes to a brighter and Happy Healthy Future. -

Hi, I hope your discomfort passes quickly. I had my surgery on 1-14-09 and felt terrible also .Sleeping was a pain in the !@# for me as well .I did speak to my LB doctor he told me that if I felt any kinds of pains don't sleep in that directions could tear away ,and move position . I have lots of pillows and have arranged them to make myself as comfortable as possible during my healing process . I have not tried to sleep on my stomach yet only for fear of flipping my port . I am a left sided sleeper ,and have been resting well lately (Thank God) ,cause I get very mean when I don't get my rest (LOL). The pains will go away in time ,but that doesn't help when you feel tired now .Try getting extra pillows I hope this helps and you feel better soon .

Well at first I started getting hungry ,and I followed through with the liquid phase of this change . It really was hard ,but I did it ,and now that I was told to move on to mushies I can honestly say I 'm no longer hungry . Yesterday I had to force myself to eat .Never thought I would have to force myself to eat in a million years (I Love FOOD!) I also have noticed when I cook for my family I have no desire to taste it no longer . I have always been a picker a little here and a little there (just samples) .but they add up big time . I feel like if this is a restriction I'm in a great spot and might not need a fill ,but then again I'm only 2 and a half weeks out (swelling I'm thinking ) either way I'll take what I can get (LOL).I went to my primary doctor two days after seing my LB Doctor, and when he told me my blood pressure already came down I was so shocked and thrilled at the same time .I was setting myself up for a heart attack or stroke, I 'm only 42 years old a wife ,mother and grandmother ,and I have so much to live for .I'm raising my grandson he is only 4 years old ,and I want to be around to enjoy what God has given me . I already planning on getting a tummy tuck a year from now theses are things I have always wanted to do ,but never took the leap ,now that I took the biggest step in my life I will continue to be a healthier person . I can't wait for summer to get here maybe this year I can go to the beach without a shirt covering me and lay on the beach feeling comfortable in my own skin . These are goals I want to reach .I hope you can do the same soon , do you have any idea when you might have your lap band in place ? I'm sure your getting excited and nervous at the same time ,just think about how much you have to look forward too. Let me know how your psych appointment went ,and I'll keep you in my prayers.

sleep apnea and this surgery
Ronda1966 replied to Kharadriisa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow ,sounds like your pcp is a real nut job . Sleep Apnea is nothing to laugh about ,very serious medical condition . I would think that she all of people would know that ,but then again there are a lot of quack doctors who have no clue about anything . Sounds like she has lack of oxygen to her brain,to sit and laugh at a patient is beyond not having bedside manner ,more like class-less.The next time you go for a visit you might want to rethink who is in charge of your health care. I have never heard of anyone faking a sleep test . I for one would bring her sleep apnea bookets and leave them on her desk( better yet hand them to her) as to clue her in on something she soo apparently has no wisdom in . I'm sorry that you have to deal with such a moron ,not all doctors conduct themselves in this manner. You are attempting to get healthy and that's all that really matters, continue doing for you . I wish you all the best ,and hope you have great success with your up and coming surgery . -

I'm hoping it goes away as time goes on . I will be going to mushies on Tuesday as well ,and I can't wait . It's so hard when I have to cook for the family ,the smells are like calling me .I'm being strong ,and have followed all the doctors orders .I find my main craving is vegetables weird huh ? Well know your not alone in feeling the strange object very alien. How are you feeling other wise ? I hope to get more energy next week starting to get very weak myself . -
sleep apnea and this surgery
Ronda1966 replied to Kharadriisa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This happened with me with the tape ,my hands ,and neck were red and started to peel on the third day after the sleep test ,you might want to mention it when you go for the cpap test . I had to take my machine with me to the hospital ,but did not need it . I was told to use it that evening of the surgery ,and had no problems .I have been on my cpap for 2 weeks and I feel great after a good nights sleep ,it is so refreshing waking up and having energy . Best of luck ,and hope you have much success -
I too have the cpap machine and just had my surgery on 01/14/2009 ,everything went fine . I was told to bring it with me to the hospital (just in case) ,but did not use it till I came home and went to bed that night . You are going to be in good hands ,so please try not to stress too much .I know it's hard . I send you Best Wishes for a great recovery .

surgery scheduled 2/12/09...wow i'm scared
Ronda1966 replied to iwalktheline's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow ,do I remember that feeling .I was banded last week 01/14/2009 .I was so scared I thought that my heart was going to jump out of my chest .I also knew this was my last chance at finding the really me . I have been overweight a greater part of my life and have heard so many rude comments ." Oh your so pretty ,Why don't you lose the weight ",or I had one lady ask me when I was "due ",well that hurts . Being the big girl I just laugh it off when deep down my self esteem was so low I did not know how else to handle it . I came to the conclusion I needed to take control of my life .This so far has been the best thing I could of done for myself .The surgery went fine ,and as the days go by I feel better ,and better. Today I will go for my first walk outdoors ,and I 'm looking forward to it . I wish you much success and know you will be fine just breathe deep and remember why your doing this . -
Congrats to getting approved for the lap band. I have had mine only a week and must say I am so happy I did this for me . This is a whole new beginning and I can't be more excited . I go back to the LB Doctor on the 27TH ,and I have not weighed myself yet I 'm waiting for the shocker affect I know most of it will be water weight ,but the less pounds the better .I will take anything I can get for now .Again Best Wishes and welcome to the forum

Hi Lena, I was banded on January 14Th ,and I'm doing soo much better the first 4 days were the worst for me . I'm still on my clear liquid diet ,and go to see my LB Doctor on the 27TH. I have one more week of liquids then I move on to mushie foods (I can't wait ).I am surprised at how well my incisions have healed up I've been putting Vitamin E on them . I hope everyone else is doing as well ,and hope to hear of all your good news .Blessings

Ronda1966 replied to Peanutband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am doing Great now finally the pain is gone ,but still a little discomfort.I really don't know how much weigh I have lost yet ,since I threw my scale out months ago .I guess it's time to buy another one . I think I will wait till I go to the LB doctor first I want that BIG moment (you know what I mean ) . That shows me I did a WONDERFUL job and a perfect decision for me .I can see my belly going down ,and not just from the surgery gases, but really going down . I can move so much better and did sleep a little bit on my left side last night (prefer side to sleep ). CONGRATS to all the New Year Hotties for a job well done so far. In a month I will be posting pictures of my progress is there a special page just for us ? Or do we just post . -

Hi Ladies, I was prescribed Oxycod/apap 5/325 every 4 hours for pain :tongue:and I also purchased liquid Tylenol (EXTRA STRENGH) ADULT RAPID BLAST ,as pre gas pain meds I did buy Gas X Strips ,but they did not work well enough for me ,so my hubby went back to the pharmacy and asked 'What was the Best over the counter "? He then brought home PhaZyme(softgel caspules) and that worked wonders for me . The meds they give are in pill form ,but don't worry the dissolve very fast and do not cause pain .I might add you would want to request pain pills before you leave the hospital for the ride home. That way some one can go to the pharmacy for you while you wait at home relaxing:sleep:. I really don't know if it is possible to go to work two days out ,but then again it depends on your job and how you deal with pain. Personally I'm still home and will be for another weekI hope this helps everyone ,and Best Wishes to you all as the days go bythe pain does ease up I won't lie and say it doesn't hurt some ,but you will get better soon .:wink2: -
I know what you mean it does hurt ,but it will be worth every ounce of pain .I'm 3 days out and I'm feeling better everyday that passes ,so will you .Congrats and Best Wishes

I went to Wal-Mart and bought the Wal-mart brand $.50 a can absolutely the best tasting broth I have ever had, as for the protein drinks Special K2o Protein Waters already mixed (different favors) . I also bought the powered mix drinks you add to water Crystal Light makes them too. Do get a case of water ,and keep some cold you will need them ,and plenty of ice. I used an ice pack for my belly to keep swelling down ,and a heating pad for my back to help with the gas pains.I walked over to the pharmacy and was looking for the powered Whey Protein it contains 66 grams of protein (2 scoops)another great tasting drink I grabbed the vanilla favor(skim milk ). I figured I'll be drinking this stuff for some time so to which it up I grabbed Slim Fast chocolate (I put them in the freezer and the get like frosty texture (like a milk shake ) pretty good . I hope this helps OOh one more thing do get GASX STRIPS YOU WILL NEED THEM .I think I covered all ,but if I didn't I will write you again. I 'm not back at work I'm only 3 days out ,and need the relaxation ,the pain does subsides as the days go by.I hope you don't rush yourself.I also hope you have help at home ,my husband has been a God sent for me ,helping me up ,and fixing my pillows have one always near me because of coughing to press against my stomach ease the pain .I find it hard to get down my liquids but I try, not really hungry for anything except ice chips. I am so happy I had this surgery and I keep saying it will be worth it in the end .I will be much more healthy ,happy ,and that helps with ever aspect of my life . Let me know if you need to know anything else I'm here to help .Best Wishes -

Congrats Rhonda, I have Aetna and just had my surgery on January 14TH. My paper work was sent in on Dec 22nd 2008 and was approves Dec.24Th . I had to wait two weeks for surgery ,and you will need that time to get yourself together ,so go buy everything you will need cause you really won't feel like going out right away . I went an bought protein waters ,protein drinks , sugar free ice pops ,chicken and beef broth fat free (Wal-mart sells the best tasting broth I've ever had in cans ) you get two serving out of them . I also bought fat free jello . I suggest bring chap stick to the hospital cause your going to need it ,and big pj's you really don't want anything around your surgery area. Best of wishes to you ,and Congrats again .
