Thanks for the advice LadyRoz! I am continuing to go to all the appointments for my clearances. Had my psych eval, and they didn't lock me up,so guess I am good there... LOL Had the appointment with the pulmonologist because of the asthma, and he said he doesn't see a problem with recommending me for surgery, although the pulmonology tests that were done after that appointment were HARD! Darn allergies have my asthma acting up! Hoping they turned out ok. Next wednesday I go for the sleep study;really don't know if I have sleep apnea or not-guess I will know soon. I know if that is the case, you have to be on the bipap machine six weeks before being a surgery candidate... NOOOO!!! I am making appointments as fast as I can to expedite the process. Have an appointment two weeks later to get the sleep study results... I have also been wondering about something that maybe you all could help me with. What if it isn't all hunger;what if you're an emotional eater? Will the lapband still help? I guess if you're full,it won't allow you to eat out of emotion because there is no room? So many thoughts swirling through my head!!:smile2: Then I read posts from you all-I can only dream of how my body would feel minus 60,80,90,118 pounds lighter!!! That is awesome!!! Keep up the good work everybody, and I will keep forging on! Joyce -

That is so cool to know a little personal stuff about the surgeon. I had my first appointment with her (Choban) last week, and ofcoarse now I am starting to make all the appointments for the clearances. She was in,and out so fast. I am excited, but unfortunately my partner isn't as happy about the possibility of the surgery as I am... We are both overweight, but she is totally against the surgery. After reading the booklet they give you at the doctor's visit,my partner seems to think nobody ever reaches their ideal weight, and that I will go through the surgery, and ONLY lose about 66 pounds. I think a lot of it depends on how devoted you are to losing the weight; like making the good food choices, and commiting to excercising. And at this point 66 pounds would be awesome! I have a huge kidney stone that can't be lithrotripsied until my body mass is less, and being that much lighter on my feet when I work 13 and 14 hour days would be helpful too. I am a dialysis technician right now,but would love to go back to school to get my R.N. At this weight I do NOT have the stamina to do that, and work. It is hard enough to make the decision to have surgery, but even harder when your partner, wife, husband, whatever, doesn't support you. Anyone else in this situation? I know she is insecure, and thinks I will leave if I lose the weight, and who knows what will happen, but I HAVE to get healthier. Thank God my Mom,and sister are supportive. I keep trying to reassure her that I need this surgery to help me get healthy. This is the first year my bp has been high, and I have been lucky so far by not being diabetic. I feel that isn't far off if I don't do something now. So far I have three of my appointments made for the clearances, and am trying to remain positive. You all help me keep my chin up,and my hope for a normal sized body alive. Thanks! Joyce -

Thank you everyone for your support. Hope you enjoyed your birthday,Kathy. I am still nervous, but forging ahead;I have my first consultation with Dr. Choban on February 24. I know I am going to have to figure out a new relationship with food, and I don't even know where/how to even begin. But the possibility of even having 20 pounds off my body right now sounds great!!! More later!! Joyce -

:huh2::Banane27::glare::Banane27::glare::Banane27: Finally got my acceptance letter from Dr. Choban's office yesterday!!!! Yea!! One step closer to hopefully reclaiming my life! Now I guess they will get my 300 dollars this week, and then be calling me for an appointment? I wonder how many clearances you have to go through...Does it depend on each individual? Did you all decide the band was the surgery you wanted,or does the surgeon suggest which surgery would be best for you? My sister had the rueny <sp>several years ago,and has had lots of problems including a revision after the pouch stretched out from overeating...Just don't think that is the route for me. Also, somewhere on this forum somebody suggested a book concerning the food intake after surgery-anyone know what the name of that book is without me going back through all the pages to find it???? Then someone mentioned hair falling out;does that happen with everyone? I already have thin, fine hair!!! My mind is racing!!! I am excited, and scared, but moving on... Thanks in advance from whatever help you can give me!!!! Joyce -

NIki, I used to live in Canal, but now in Pataskala. Did it take you two years to be approved for the surgery? What kind of insurance did you have? I have Cigna;hope it doesn't take that long-ish!! I look at all the before and after pics, and try to imagine what I will look like-I can't! The appearnace isn't my main focus anyway-it is my health, but now risk wondering, dreaming of what I might look like when all is said, and done.... Joyce -

Hello All~ I have followed this thread for a very long time, and it is very comforting reading about everyone's experiences. I went to Dr. Choban's seminar last year, and have just turned in my packet. My Cigna insurance reqiured me to see my physician for six months of weight loss documentation,so that is done already. Anyone know what the next steps will be? In reading so many of the entries on this thread, I know there are a lot of hoops to go through. I am scared, but I know I HAVE to do SOMETHING!!! I am hoping the lap band, combined with the support groups, will help me become the person I know is trapped deep inside the walls of fat I have built. Also, my urologist says bariatric surgery can cause kidney stones-anyone ever heard this?? I will appreciate any information anyone is willing to share!!
