Same happened to me... do you think there may be any chance of gaining the weight back with the bypass? All the best with your operation! :wink2:

    Reflux Poll

HI Stephanie, I know what you are going through, pretty terrible... I went through this for a long time... had my band almost emptied and all symptoms disappeared... problem is, I am putting the weight back on and am nearly back to square one.... can;'t win! Doctor was a little angry and simply said, "you don;t need to band to loose weight, you could just exercise and control yourself" ! Well, I guess that's true, but that's why I had the band fitted in the first place. My metabolism is in disarray and even with samll amounts of food, i put on weight... I have to keep to very low calorie intakes to keep weight at bay... All the best with it all! Makana
  5. Hello makana, i too have had my band 3 years and i ws 96kg at the time and got down to 72kg at my lowest. i have since put on inthe past 21 months or so and are back to 85kg, and i feel like a failer big time. i do feel that i have just slipped back into my old patten and eat allt he time. my choise of food is wrong and i have to get myself out of this old habit. - intersting as i have only just started writing on this site, actually this would be my 3rd time, i have been just reading other peoples questions. yet tonight i felt i would reply to you, so i guess i too have to find that ( i feel good about myself ) again and get back on track. :) Happy days to you :)

    Reflux Poll

That must be hard!! I would get hungry , 4 hours before bed without eating anything? Because of the small portions of food, I need to eat more frequently... and feel hungry in the evening... I also wake up in the middle of the night with severe left shoulder pain. Do you experience that?

    Reflux Poll

I was banded 5 years ago and have had serious problems with reflux which has resulted in ulcers. These are very painful and continually exacerbated by the acid reflux. I am on medication for reflux and ulcers but the ulcers are not healing due the acid reflux. Not easy...

    difficulties with band

Thanks very much for that your comment Jack. I will ask for a GI contrast . Have you had any of those issues yourself? All the best Lisa
  11. I was banded 5 years ago in Australia. I initially lost a lot of weight: over 30 kg. So I dropped from 85 kg to 52 kg. It felt wonderful to be slim, fit in any clothes and look fabulous! I got a lot of attention to but what no one knew was my physical pain... I was vomiting a lot and had severe left shoulder pain. I also developed gastric ulcers, which are extremely painful, and severe reflux. I was mostly eating Soups. My blood pressure was very low, I was constantly cold, had major constipation issues, seizure like feeling in my head, calf pain, general tiredness, dysphagia, sore throat, left shoulder pain and pain in the left arm and hand due to neural contraction in my neck from the shoulder pain. I had the band adjusted a year ago and within a month, put on 10 kg. I could not eat much but obviously a little more then before. I did have a refill after a month, but was not able to loose the weight I had gained. Instead, I put on 3 kg more. I am still vomiting a lot and unable to eat most solid foods... easiest are snack, biscuits, no vegetables or fruits, only in smoothie form or soups. I worry about stomach cancer due to my ulcers. I am unable to eat as others do and yet am overweight and hate the fact that I have put on all this weight... The band is not always easy... I am going to see the surgeon for a review of my symptoms.

    Are my teeth getting darker?

Yes I noticed that too. I have been banded for 5 years and my teeth are definetly going darker. I have been on smoothies and mushed food, Soups, curries, yogurt, small pieces of fish and chicken for most of the time.
  13. Hey snorkel Rob,

Do you also get left shoulder pain?

  14. Hi Jahut,

Nice to hear that the band worked for you. What is the weight you have been able to maintain?

I was banded 5 years ago and maintained a low weight 53 kg for 4 years. I am now back to 69 kg...

can't seem to shift the weight

    Hope to hear from you
