Man I am discouraged! I love chicken! I have not been banded yet, but will get my date within the next 48 hours. Any tips on successful ways to eat chicken? Also, what is "slime?"

    Kaiser fremont

Ok, how do you ensure your safety being as though it is in Mexico? They do not have the same regulations on health facilities that we do in the US. That is coming from a friend of mine who is Mexican and from Mexico. Help!
  5. So I have a doctor at Kaiser that is so anti weight loss surgery. She says that my comorbids do not qualify (GERD & Depression). I cannot afford to pay out of pocket because I am so financially screwed right now. I am so bummed. I will continue on my yo yo dieting because it is so damn hard!!!!!!!!!! I feel like I just have to starve sometimes because I am always hungry or have cravings. Then I get bummed out because I can't have a piece of cake or ice cream with my family. I am so lost and depressed. I thought I found something that would actually work and now I am knocked down again. Helllppp!!:huh2:

I agree with the last lady's post. Kaiser is really pissing me off!! I pay for the damned insurance and I am significantly overweight (60-70 lbs). I need help and the only help that they can offer me is a pay for support group! This is bullsh*t!! Pardon my french!:huh2::cursing::cursing:
  7. I have been on this uphill battle with weight since I was 18 years old. I have lost weight with Weight Watchers and starving and always gained it back and then some. I heard about this weight loss band concept from Sharon Osborne of all people (who was overweight her entire life preband) after reading her book. So at this point I am desperate. I have been between 50-70 pounds over the to of my healthy range for over 5 years now. I am embarrassed to go to family functions, meet friends, or really even leave the house. I take medications for Bipolar Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which are not kind to me in the weight department. Since starting the medications, even Weight Watchers has been unsuccessful for me. :cursing: I have concerns that I would so appreciate anyone providing input on. I have a BMI of 35.5 (5'6" 218 pounds)...all the research I have done has said that I qualify because I have the BMI of 35 or greater and at least 2 comorbids (GERD, Depression, & borderline sleep apnea) but I have not really noticed anyone in the 60-80 pound goal range. Do you think this surgery is reasonable for me? How much vomiting and nausea is involved post op? Is it unreasonable to feel relieved that there is an option that may actually be successful? I am afraid of the "not a quick fix" term being thrown out because while the band is not the only tool in losing weight, it sure seems like there is a common denominator with the band and the people on this board and others losing weight. Where is the happy medium in terms of relief and excitement vs. reality? :w00t: Again, any words of encouragement or advice are so very appreciated! I was so hopeless feeling before I learned that this may be an option for me. Now, I have this "this is probably not going to work for me because I am not a candidate" scared feeling. I just want the weight gone once and for all. It is truly my biggest hinderance and just making me a frumpy person that I do not want to be. It seriously controls my life, as much as I am embarrassed to admit it. :bored: Thanks for your patience and time in reading this! God Bless you! Kim in Nor Cal

    My fantasy love

  9. Hi there! My name is Kim and I am from Elk Grove. I saw that you had your surgery in Modesto and wanted to contact you. Congrats on your success with the lapband surgery!

I am in the "considering" stage right now and have asked for a bariatric referral from my primary physician. I have a BMI of 35.5 w/ 2 comorbids so I guess I barely make it. I really am hoping this is for me. I have struggled sooo long with my weight and I am so depressed about it!

May I ask you how your recovery has been? Have you had a lot of nausea or vomiting? I am concerned about that part!

Any input you can give me is so appreciated!! Happy Holidays!

    Kim
