Hello and congratulations and best wishes on your new journey. I live in PA but I was banded in Jersey in October 08'. This forum is great I use it alot. If I get bored and want to eat or tired and dont want to exercise I come here read whats new and it helps me get motivated. The band was the best decision I made.

The recovery is very easy and you could probably pass it off as a stomach virus. But if the recovery is a little harder on you then what. However you could tell her you were having a hernia operation, I would. I wish I did tell my mother it was a different type of operation. Everyone is already judgmental of heavy people it is something we have all dealt with. If she already thinks that the band is a cop out then when she finds out she will have nothing good to say and discourage you. I had issues with my mother. Except she had the RNY surgery and thinks the band isnt as good. (Actually she lied to everyone and told us she had her gallbladder out till months after the operation.) So when I had a little complication first thing was see I told you the band isnt as good. This was a choice I made I have been heavy since 6th grade and am done. Now every time she calls she hounds me on how much I have lost. It is aggravating. Do what you think is best, this is a great support forum and there are always great people here to listen and help. You will do great you are changing your life and will be ahppy with your decision. I am! Rae

I was 316 on surgery date October 20,2008. I got my second fill last Tuesday and I am now down to 276. It is a wonderful tool and I am glad I had it done. Keep positive any everything is possible. 199 feels far away for me to but I know I will get there with the help of my band.

My first port was put in the end of July, with in one week it started to leak and the entire thing opened. I went to the hospital and they cleaned it and sent me home with (what I thought) a huge hole that I had to pack with gauze, and was told it would close and be ok. A week later and it stated to leak again and got red outside the area. Went back to the hospital and had to have my port removed. The took the port out and left me with a hole in my body that I could put and egg in and you would not see the egg, it was over 2" wide by 2" deep. I had to pack it twice a day. It took 5 weeks, and scared me to death. I was scared of the wound and scared about the port replacement. However I had my second port put in in the end of October, I had my second fill Tuesday 2/03 and am doing great. I was very sad and scared and discouraged but it is all fine now and I am losing. Hang in there it will get better and you will heal. I cried sometimes looking at the hole in my body and though it would never heal but it did and I am moving forward now. Hang in there it will be worth it. :cursing:

it was very frustrating after my first port had to come out but you move on and hope for the best. It was scary because they wound had to be left open to heal :confused: but we are all better now and moving forward. the Wave is a stepping program but the step is shaped like a 1/2 circle so you can sept on it them turn it over and it rocks back and forth it is neat but higher aerobic work out.

Hello I'm Rae I had my second band put in 10/20/08. The first one's port got infected and had to come out, and then I had to heal. My first one was put in in July. I had my first fill 12/16/08 7cc in a 14cc band no real restriction. However this Tuesday I got 2.4 cc more for a total of 9.04 and I feel the restriction. It feels different this time. I have lost 3 lbs since Tuesday. I do Wii fit almost everyday for 45 minutes at least and I did get the Wave so I am hoping to start that soon. I didnt really lose in December or January I had no restriction and just ate, I didn't gain weight but wasnt doing anything to try to lose weight. New beginnings _________________ 35yrs old ~ 5'0" Start weight was 316 lbs. Todays weight 282 lbs. I've lost 34 lbs so far :confused:

Hello. I had the same thing happen to me. I had my band put in in October within a week it open and I had a huge hole it was a bit bigger then yours. My doctor told me the same thing that it looked good and there was no infection. A few days later it started to get red around it and I had the puss leaking again. I called the doctor and he told me to go to the hospital. My port had to come out it was infected. They had to take the port out it was the scariest thing ever. They could not close the wound it had to heal from the inside out. The hole it left that i was packing with gauze I could fit an egg sideways into me and you would not see it. It healed in six weeks then they put my new port back in and everyting was fine. I dont want to scare you but watch the area mine got hotter and red around it and thats when I went to the hospital. I was lucky my neighbor is a nurse and she checked on it. It was really scary but it did all work out and my new port is great. I just stunk that it took three months for all the healing. Rae

:crying:does it take a day or two to get the full feeling from my fill. This is my second band the first one got infected and had to be replaced. After the wound healed, I had the second one put in in October and now I really want to start feeling full. After I ate tonight I got a little upset. I had my first fill yesterday i had liquids last night and then today i had an egg for lunch and for dinner harder food. I really didn't feel full after i ate i felt a little sick. So my question is does it take a day or two to get that full feeling or is my fill not enough do you all think? I had 7cc
