Thanks, I love the name too! I'm using Dr. Kim and my surgery is November 4th. Worth the wait, I'm so happy with him and his office so far. Everyone has been great. Your surgery is right around the corner. I'm sure you are excited and nervous. I'd love to keep in touch and chat with you about your progress. -

It has been recommended to me and I keep hearing this pop up that if my Dr. does a scope prior to surgery and finds a Hiatal Hernia that I may receive some assistance with insurance. Just curious if this has happened to anyone out there. I have Blue Cross and there is a specific exclusion in my plan for bariatric surgery. I had a surgeon tell me he has seen some patients save up to $4,000 after discovering a hiatal hernia. TIA -

Hey Jen, I ended up getting my surgery cost down to $4900. Still a lot of money but I'm ready to spend that kind of money on taking a healthy step for myself. It took me a long time to get to where I could swallow spending that kind of cash but I'm there now. I had my gal bladder removed back in 2000 so that's one thing I don't have to pay for now. I'm guessing they will remove your gal bladder at the same time as the sleeve? -

Hi Bry, I have heard mixing crystal light with the Isopure really helps as well as diluting it with Water. Hope you find what works for you. I also live in Keller! I'm in limbo right now waiting to see a new Dr. Good luck!!!! -
Worried and scared, feeling alone

I have an appointment with a 2nd surgeon on the 21st of this month. I canceled my surgery with my original surgeon because I didn't feel comfortable I was getting all the information I wanted. This Dr. was great, but at the end of the day all that matters is how I feel and I didn't feel right with him. I would recommend getting a second opinion. All doctors are different and it is up to us as the patients to not accept everything just because it's a doctor saying it. Go see another doctor and see what he says. I'm in Texas, most doctors here do free consultations. I'm assuming that's fairly standard. Did he suggest bypass instead of sleeve? Are you open to that? I know that it's sometimes more successful for someone who has a higher starting rate. You are doing the right thing by coming here for advice, keep searching for the right answer (something you're comfortable with) and you will find it. -

Hi Morganne, I live in Keller. I was scheduled for surgery on the 21st with Dr. Clayton Frenzel but I started to have some doubts about using him so I am meeting with Dr. Nicholson in Dallas on the 26th. I hate waiting but I want to make sure I am comfortable with the doctor. I love the idea of having people to meet with after I get started on my path to better health. -

Lyndsey, Despite some peoples lack of respect I personally am thankful for your story. I just finished reading ALL of the post and I wanted to reach out to you and thank you for sharing your sisters story as well as your own. I am scheduled for surgery January 21st and I have spent about 7 years making this decision. Death still scares me but obviously this was not a decision I made lightly. I wanted to see if you could give us a little information about the symptoms she was having after surgery that differed from your own. Maybe some things that those of us who are heading towards surgery can be on the look out for. Your sister will be remembered. Her story may save lives, thank you again for sharing. -

I really believe that Lap Band is the way to go for me. Now I have to decided if I can handle the idea of having a foreign object in my body...seems strange. And the band fill maintenance seems costly. In the end I'm sure losing weight and getting healthy makes it all worth it. -

I just worry that if I can't stop eating now....how am I going to stop after surgery? My problem is I don't hurt for a long time when I'm over eating....but I do stop when it hurts...is that what its like with the band? I've heard people talk about eating around the band...what does this mean and how can I avoid it? -

How can you tell if your an addict or an over eater? I eat all the time.....hungry or not. I eat 10 minutes after I finish a meal. I eat huge meals, I eat inbetween meals, I eat lots of sweets...lots of sweets. I mean aren't we all addicted to food? I've been debating getting the band for years now and I still have so many questions. Band slips, bands eroding and now trying to figure out what kind of eater I am.....CONFUSING! -

I was going to go through TLC edge and they are charging $10k which is the cheapest I've found. I really like the office staff but then I read something a little scary today about the Dr. so I'm doing some more research. How much was yours - if you dont mind me asking??? I am familiar with the hospital you went to - had my gal bladder removed there!
Fortunately I have been able to set aside about 6k and I would only have to finance the remainder but I am still going through the worrying about after I pay that money and what if we need it???

I've been out of town for a bit, just saw your message.
Girl...I canceled. Yep, I canceled. I can't believe it but I did. It was getting down to the wire and I started freaking out about money (I am a cash patient). I kept thinking how can I spend all this money when my family has other needs? That and I thought how guilty I'd feel if we needed the money after the surgery.
I still want this so bad but I don't know if I can do it.
