    September Bandster Check-in

I have a treadmill in my bedroom with a 19in. TV with DVD player hooked uped. It makes it nice to go watch a movie and walk at the same time. The bike is at the gym, which is not something I like to do all the time, but I am getting more used to it. I just went shopping for some pants this weekend and I bought 2 pairs of size 16!!!!!!!!! I started at a size 22...WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!! How did the string cheese go down? Any Superbowl plans??

    September Bandster Check-in

That is GREAT!! I am glad that you didn't have any problems getting it down. You would be surprised how much meat you can eat at one setting. Have you tried Laughing Cow cheese? It is just like cream cheese with 1/2 the calories. I just got back from the gym! I rode almost 9 miles on the bike in 45 minutes and was done before I knew it!

    September Bandster Check-in

That sounds good! You also might want to try lean lunch meat wrapped in a slice of cheese..That is good too. I know what you mean by slow going, but at least its going. My brother lost about 90 pounds in a year so that type of weight loss is what I am shooting for. I recently started reading the Twilight Book from Stephenie Meyer and I don't read it unless I am on the bike at the gym..So that has helped me stay motivated to excersise.. Keep up the good work! Who would of thought that Twilight would help in losing weight.. LOL!!~!~!

    September Bandster Check-in

I usually eat my chicken with Heinz 57 sauce or something similar. I eat it right after I have cooked it being careful not to dry it out. You will be fine with chicken, just chew good, no need to psych yourself out it is a piece of cake( not literally..THat would be yummy LOL) I usually start to losen up around lunch time actually. My breakfast I eat is usually slow going then I can eat more for lunch. I have even eaten microwave chicken, which is supposed to be difficult because it dries it out..You just have to make sure you chew really good and small bites you will be fine! I have yet to throw up nor do I want to, so this seems to work for me. I have had only 2 soft stops and they are not fun! You learn as you go! I hope to be at 160 by the end of June.. How about you? What state do you live in?

    September Bandster Check-in

Yes, that is what I mean.. My typical day would consist of Yogurt, cottage cheese, or oatmeal for breakfast. For lunch was soup, chili etc. (no crackers or bread) then for dinner I ate scrambled eggs with cheese etc. So what he said is that it is still ok to eat soft foods for breakfast since that is when I am the tightest, then after that no more soft foods. For lunch I now eat a can of chicken (at costco) with some light miracle whip and sweet pickles. A Smart One frozen meal with chicken and veggies, protein bars, sandwich meat with a cheese stick. For dinner I eat grilled chicken breast (4 oz.) with a veggie of some kind, salad or otherwise. It has made a huge difference. I am not hungry in-between meals either.

    September Bandster Check-in

Good for you..Yes, once you get the restriction you will start seeing a BIG difference. I went in a couple of weeks ago to get a fill and my dr. said that he didn't think I needed one, and to change my diet to eat "Dry Meals" which I had not been doing. Since I started doing that I have lost 6 pounds. I have to remind myself to eat and when I do I try for Protein first, then veggies, then if I am still wanting more, I go for the carbs.. I have another appt. on Monday Jan 26th so I will let you guys know how it goes after that. I have had three fills so far. :tt2:

That exersise video sounds like you work up a sweat.. Good for you! Any movement is GOOD!! Two miles twice a week is a great start, I still have not worked up to that yet. I to have not had any issues with my fills, however 6 months post op fills are covered by my doctor even if I have 2 or 20 fills. I finally broke my pleateau I have been at for about 3 weeks. YEA!!!!!!!!!! We are going to be so healthy for the summer time! Keep up the good work girls and thanks so much for the support! :grouphug:

    September Bandster Check-in

That's the truth! I have always been "Stocky" but after I had my son at the age of 29 I gained 65 pounds with him and at full term I was 265. I started my weight loss journey at 260 pounds..I a looking forward getting under 200 then under 190 etc. I have set 10 pound goals for myself, I think that might be better than trying to tackle 100 pounds all at once!

    September Bandster Check-in

I am very glad that she is making the change, sad however it took losing two family members to shake her up. Hind site is 20/20 though..THe good thing is that she is going to make a difference and save her life! I made an agreement with myself to at least get 30 min of excersise no matter if in a gym, outside, skiing, etc. I used to be an avid excersiser..I don't know what happened.. Life maybe.:thumbs_up:

    September Bandster Check-in

That is GREAT that she is going to do it, it isn't for EVERYONE, but people who have battled weight their whole life, it is really worth it. I know its not a miracle fix, but a tool that will help with portion sizes. If you go into it knowing that..You'll be GOLDEN! I am going to go to my first support group here in Boise on the fouth Monday of the month. It should be interesting! Are you doing any excersise?

    September Bandster Check-in

I am glad that I found this thread for September banders because it really makes a difference for those who where banded in Sept. versus October etc. We are on our way and need to keep focused. My brother has been a year post op the week of Christmas and he has lost almost 90 pounds and only has 30 more to go..He inspires me everyday!

    September Bandster Check-in

THANKS!! I think that worked!! I am going to be patient, I have lost 37 pounds and am feeling so much better. I went skiining last weekend for the first time in a long time and it went really good, my ski pants still fit me (however they were big on me) but still felt comfortable when before they were extremely tight.. I can also help my son strap up his snow-board after we get off the lift without taking off my skiis to help him.. Small steps to the BIG PICTURE.. Shawna

    September Bandster Check-in

Hi THere.. I was banded on Sept. 23rd 2008 and so far I have lost 36 pounds.. 19 pounds since surgery. I lost 14 pounds of that 1 1/2 weeks after my surgery,so I am a bit frustrated. I can't figure out how to link my ticker to this email.. I started at 260 and my goal weight is 160. My surgeon was Dr. Anderson in Boise ID. I really like him, he has been very supportive and listens to my concerns. I have a 14cc band and am 7.5 so far. I went into have my fill on Monday (5Jan09) he said he thought I was tight enough even though I had only lost 1 pound since my las fill three weeks prior. HE says he wants me to start eating "Dry meals" I guess I have been eating soft foods and not realizing that I was not getting my Protein in. So I will start that! I need to excersise also.. Any of you excersising yet? Shawna in Idaho

    Shoulder Pain

Hi Angie! I too had the shoulder pain and I was banded on 9/23/08 and for the last month have not had any gas pains. Yes the gas pain in your shoulder is most likely from the gas they bloat you up with during surgery, that is what my surgeon told me and it sounds like your having the same issues. It does go away, a heating pad and IB Motrin helped me! Let me know how things are going! GO BANDERS!!!!!! Shawna in Idaho!
  16. Hi Rachel1969! I was banded on the 23rd of Sept. this year and it was also sore to take deep breaths, the important thing is to get off the couch and walk around and try to take in as deep of breaths as you can, it gets better. I had pain in my shoulder due to the gas they bloat you up with during surgery, it took about a month for the uncomfortable pain to go away. I am now feeling like everything is back to normal. I have lost 37 pounds so far and am feeling great. I make sure I don't overeat to cause me to have that pressure feeling in my chest. I just don't go there. Drink your protein shakes and try to drink lots of water. It will get better! It is sooooooooooooooooo worth it! Shawna in Idaho!

It could have something to do with your gallbladder depending on which side the pain is. Shawna

    Coughing and my band

I was banded on the 23rd of Sept 2008 and my mentor told me that when I needed to cough, to hold a pillow onto my stomach for extra support and that helped me tons! Good luck Shawna
  19. I think it has alot to do with what you eat, if you eat lots of protein and not carbs and carbination, it seems to help..Try that.
  20. I haven't tried the Beano, but I do like the Gas X thin strips that you put right on your tongue, that helps with my burps and my guggerling and fits really nice in my purse and has a minty flavor..Anything at this point would help .. LOL!!!
  21. Hi There..I have been banded since Sept. 23rd 2008 and have lost a total of 36 pounds as of yesterday. I have lost 20 pounds since surgery and 16 pounds pre-op diet. I am loving my weight loss, and have had my 3rd fill yesterday. I have restriction, but I am still eating out of habit. I am not hungry in-between meals so I have to think about why I am eating when I do eat. Am I hungry or am I bored or is this just the normal time of day that I usually snack on something. When I focus on why I am eating I do really well with staying away from the foods that do no fuel my body. I am probably going to have a few more fills before I get to where I want to be at. I started in a size 22 and am down to a size 18 and some 16's. Snow ski season is going to start up and I am almost 40 pounds lighter than last year and my knees thank me.. :huh2:

Hi There.. Yes, I lost 14 pounds 1 1/2 weeks after surgery..It fell off right after surgery, but after I started eating chocolate and liquid calories, the weight didn't move..of course..It was all my doing. I have had my 3rd fill on the 17th of Dec. and it was a big one. I have lost 5 pounds in the last three weeks. Everyone loses differently. My sister in law has lost 37 pounds in 2 months. It is what you put into it and I am realizing it and am back on track. Please don't let my lack of motivation for a couple of months discourage you! You will do as good as your efforts! Now that I am back on track I have lost 2 more pounds since my fill on Wednesday! Slow and steady wins the race.. S
  23. After my surgery, it was over 1 1/2 weeks before I had a BW so don't worry it will come! :cursing: The burps are like a fermented burp and it is gross, and comes any time in the day, it is embarrassing when I am talking to a customer and then POW!!!!!!! THere it goes and it stinks to high heaven!!:huh2:
